    Hair Shedding & Hair Loss

I have had 3 cycles of really noticeable hair loss since my sleeve 16+ months ago. It's finally (I hope!) growing back. I suspect it won't be as thick as it once was but I am totally OK with that. By the time it's falling out the new hair is already growing. I have never seen any decent evidence that any supplement makes any difference. In the same way the people talk about 'breaking' a stall by twiddling with protein and fluids and exercise and goodness knows that else, I think that people might attribute the regrowth to whatever supplement they were taking at the time whereas really it was just gonna grow back anyway. Human nature.

    Worried I won't lose enough

I hope you will find that the sleeve is an extremely effective weight loss tool. I had my surgery at almost the same time as summerseeker and I have also lost well over 130lbs. Beyond my wildest dreams. I wish you all the luck in the world with your sleeve.

    No weightloss 1 month PO

17lbs in 4 weeks is absolutely awesome and not at all 'no weight loss 1 month PO' OP! As the others have said, a stall at this point is completely par for the course. Stick to your plan and you will lose loads more. Best of luck.

    Looking for Easy Protein Snacks

Honestly if you can stay away from ultra processed foods then do - forever! In emergencies we all need to grab the least bad option but for every day if you can get tubs full of proper home cooked from scratch food that you can eat throughout the day lined up, then I think that's preferable. At the minute I have in the fridge: leftover roast dinner from today (one cup servings) x 2, fish pie from yesterday x 1 and spag bol from the day before x 1. I do these up on a rolling basis depending on what I'm cooking for my family. I eat two leftover things late morning and early afternoon and then cook today's thing for dinner - that then makes me leftovers for the following days.

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

So good to hear your update FMO! Totally agree we have to live a normal life. It's fine to take some planned time off our programmes. How has it been getting back on track afterwards? Was the break totally worth it?
  6. I'm sorry I don't really understand your concern OP. If I had lost enormous amounts of weight right after my sleeve then I would have been over the moon, LOL. When you say you think you're losing weight too fast - what do you mean? Too fast for what?? As the others have said - it's likely that some will be water weight and some will be attributable to the different scales you used. It's likely you will settle into a rate of loss that reflects your starting weight and how well you adhere to the rules of whatever surgery you had. If you could share your starting weight and your surgery type (or better still fill in all the stats you can on your profile here) then people here might be able to comment more specifically on your particular situation. There's a lot of expertise - really helped me! Best of luck.
  7. Absolutely amazing. How fab to see such a big loss after such a long stall. So close!!!

    Stalles

Sounds absolutely perfect for 10 months out. You're probably in a stall - keep on doing what you're doing and it will break soon. I know it's frustrating but 91lbs in you are definitely the expert on your own weight loss!

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

I am just going to post an update because this has been kind of my diary thread (never having started an actual weight loss diary). 16 months post op, I have been the same weight for about 6 or 8 weeks now (142lbs) so I think I'm done losing. BMI is 21. I eat about 1500 calories a day and I think I'll have to stay close to that forever (so small compared to what I was eating 16 months ago!!) I can eat a good full cup of food at a sitting. I can chug about 7 or 8 swallows of fluid in one go. Loving my new life. I hope all my November 2021 buddies are too xxx

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

Oh god I agree, it is SOOOOO hard sometimes. Any loss is a good loss FMO - look at that BMI - so fab compared to this time last year 😍

    Kids meals!

Hard agree - I know most of us will eat home-cooked proper food the vast majority of the time. It's nice to see what's out there for times when you need to grab something on the go though. I also focus on protein and tend to completely ignore the carb part of fast food! Thanks for sharing all. Storing some of these up in my memory banks!
  12. Hahaha one element of that mix has to go and because I'm Irish I'm suggesting the orange (never the potato!!) 😂
  13. Food looks amazing - and what a view!
  14. My absolute go-to book is A Pound of Cure by Matthew Weiner. For months after my sleeve I angsted over not getting my 5+ portions of (fruit and) veg every day but now I get that by lunchtime most days. My only other advice would be to stick to protein first, veg second, carbs third at every single meal. It works.
  15. I have a sleeve but I have never measured anything. I suspect it might be different for people with a bypass? My stomach tells me when it's had enough - it has increased steadily from a couple of teaspoons 16 months ago to about half a plate of food at each meal these days. Strangely (with hindsight - having read lots here) I was never given any goals at all - just protein first, veg second, carbs if you need something more, and it's worked out really well for me. I hope you can relax into your surgery and best of luck with your new life 🤗
  16. I feel your frustration OP. Hitting your stride can be really difficult. My advice 5 weeks out would be to try to hit your fluid goal and your protein goal as many days as you can, and to let everything else fall into place around those. Don't fret too much about calories at your stage - you are unlikely to be able to physically get enough in to gain weight, or even be close to maintaining your current weight - you are programmed to lose right now. Be mindful of everything you take in and aim to form habits for a new and healthy life. I wish you the very best of luck.

    Reset

Hi Bridge! Can you fill us in on some of your stats? If you only had a little weight to lose in the first place it might be that your body has gained a little and settled into its new 'set weight' now. If you had loads to lose and you didn't quite get there then it might be helpful instead to unpick exactly what you did straight after your surgery. I think the sleeve 'reset' might in many cases just be going back to the rules your team gave you after your surgery. Lots of fluids, protein first at every meal, veg second, carbs last. You are still early in your journey so I suspect if you go right back to those basics you still have time to lose loads more weight (if you need to). I have only just stopped losing weight 16 months after my sleeve. You will get good advice here, so well done for seeking help and best of luck!

    5 years post op!!

So inspirational so hear your story. It gives the rest of us hope to maintain our losses. You look amazing and happy. Huge congrats.

    Bubbles.

I had my first champagne about 6 weeks after my sleeve and I've drunk carbonated drinks ever since - doesn't bother me but I think there's a LOT of variation. It's one of those things I would take very easy first time round and give yourself plenty of time between sips (to buuuuuuurp - a lot LOL!) Also be really careful with alcohol - you may find your tolerance is virtually zero after surgery.

    GLP-1s

Fascinating article (the first link, LOL) thanks GT!
  21. Yes indeed - I think what the OP was going for was a cheap but lovely pair of size 18s to look at longingly and then love being able to fit into! Totally agree - spending serious money on "in-between" sizes is not to be recommended. You will sail through and out the other end so quickly!
  22. Could you share your stats please @gabbykittyvsg??? When did you have the sleeve?
  23. So annoying. I love the idea of incentive shopping though. I hope you do find those size 18s somewhere else and you're into them in no time!

    back in the hospital

Sounds really rough. I hope you're coming out the far end now OP.
