Inches Lost! Your experience? Expectations?
Spinoza replied to BKJ's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have never measured myself on any diet. Am totally focused on weight loss and have absolutely no idea of any body measurements, LOL. I know that others do the opposite. @GreenTealael your post is super interesting including the before and after bodies. Thank you for sharing!!! -
I don't understand *all* of your post but I do get the thrust I think. I told 3 people about my surgery - my immediate family. I won't tell anyone else ever I think. You need to decide who has the right to the full facts and then decide what to tell others no matter how invested or interested or just gosh darn nosey they decide to be. Everyone else I told I was sticking to a strict low calorie diet. Which is absolutely true (I couldn't have told lies). Could you just adapt this or something like it as a response to all the enquiries OP? Completely factually accurate but just not sharing your private stuff?

Haha I am SUCH a fan of all inclusive food that we've only had one holiday since my surgery that allowed me to indulge. I can always find something to pick at, and usually multiple things to fill up on. NOT GOOD!!! Hope you are having a lovely time wherever you are.

Oh it's the length of that dress that I love most. Any shorter and it would have had less of an impact. Love it on you. I'm tall and particularly sensitive to length but yeessss!

It really is. I am absolutely certain that I would never *ever* have lost the weight I did if I hadn't been here from day 1. 20lbs loss in a month is amazing. Compare that to ANY diet you did in your life before surgery - unbelievable. Yes there will be stalls and regains, but if you stick to your programme then the general trend will be downwards. I hope you will be happy with where you land 🤩

Lessons from my post-weight loss style journey
Spinoza replied to BigSue's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Really interesting post thank you Sue! I haven't thought about this logically. I have no idea what suits and doesn't suit my new body. I'm still just super excited that I can buy stuff because I like it rather than just because they have it in my size. Will now have a big think about the next step and looking fabulous 🤩 -
HELP!! 3 weeks Post Op: I Ate 5-ounce dinner!!
Spinoza replied to Avea9's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is so easy to do immediately post op because your stomach (or pouch, depending on what surgery you had) can't tell you when it's had enough yet. If you can stick to your programme moving forward then you won't go wrong. You won't have done any harm at all hopefully. Agree with the posts above. I hope everything goes really well for you moving forward. WLS is a total game changer for most of us. -

What does "full" feel like to you?
Spinoza replied to LisaCaryl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Please don't wait to get signals a week after surgery. There's little or no feedback from our stomachs because all the nerves have been cut. Takes weeks or months to heal and tell you anything, and even then, as the others have said, the feeling of fullness can be really delayed. I am 28 months post sleeve and I have just learned to eyeball what volume and mix of foods my stomach can manage, and usually stop a bit before that for safety's sake. If I go beyond that I get a runny nose and sneeze (Vagus nerve stimulation). By then it's too late though. You'll learn how to manage as you go along. Just stick to small volumes at the start. At your stage you shouldn't be too hungry so you're just eating for fuel - treasure this time, it passes all too quickly. 😍 Stick strictly to the volumes you have been given. Weirdly I wasn't given any by my team so I asked for advice here and then stuck to THAT and it was very helpful. -
I think in general terms shorter cuts hide hair loss better - IF you do experience significant loss. I lost a lot of hair, in three distinct waves. Plus my hair grows (and regrows) abnormally slowly. I'm 28 months post surgery and my last phase of regrowth is just about below my ears now. I've had to cut my hair shorter than I normally would for about 18 months but I think I'll finally be back to my usual below shoulder length soon. Have to say it's been an opportunity to experiment that I would never have had otherwise! Maybe try new stuff if you need to?

Thanks for your really honest post. I can see this happening to me and others years after surgery - there are just so many pressures to eat and drink things that aren't good. It sounds like you're ready for a change and to lose some of that regain if possible. I agree that there will be headwork as well as diet work to do. Arabesque's post is super sensible and I hope you can take all of that on board. I would just add, returning to the basics of protein first, veg second for a few weeks might let you see a loss again. Maybe set a time limit of 4 weeks adhering strictly to that and see how you progress? I like a glass or two of wine at weekends but if you can cut out alcohol completely (empty calories) then do. If not, then minimise. Think about why you need to have a few drinks in order to socialise online and think about what joy that socialising brings to your life (Vs the joy of being at your ideal weight). When you start losing weight again hopefully this will reinforce your new choices.

Off to a slow start after surgery. Anyone else?
Spinoza replied to NickelChip's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I totally sympathise. But honestly this sounds completely within normal limits. There's no way you're going to have this surgery, stick to your programme, and not lose a heap of weight. It's just that the loss isn't linear. There are times when you lose half a pound a day (early!) and times when you lose a quarter of a pound a week. And all manner of gains and plateaus and whatever in the middle of that. And you'll be eating much the same and exercising much the same so there's no rhyme or reason to it! I hope you don't get hung up on this - you've already proven that you are losing inches. I truly hope you get to where you want to be asap. -
Love this recipe too. I tend to eat porridge more for supper, love it!

6 Months post surgery, minimal to no weight loss
Spinoza replied to invisiblyhappy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds awful. We go through so much to have our surgery that we just expect that we'll get the results we want. I'm so sorry it hasn't gone as you expected so far. When you say you're having to eat the foods you have learned your stomach WILL tolerate, what kinds of foods are they? Can you share an average day's menu with us? I also wouldn't get too hung up on exercise - it doesn't contribute that much, honestly. Although it's good for us generally. Hopefully once you've lost more you will feel more able for that. -
How did you get your water in???
Spinoza replied to Spoole0902's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Oh gosh yes OP it's really really hard at the start. I echo what everyone else has said. Sip sip sip all the time. Try fluids at different temperatures (I found out after people here advised me that I could drink *much* more liquid if it was warm). And if you're getting anywhere close to goal then that's usually good enough. I wish you the best of luck. -
Wow Wow Wow!! Fab before and after photos. Huge congratulations!!! Welcome to your new life 😍

How to get pas a Plateau
Spinoza replied to DCarroll@66's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi OP. Sounds like you had a relatively small amount to lose. 👍 Could you let us know what your starting weight and goal weight are? Also what your procedure was? And when you had your surgery? If so we could probably advise you more specifically! You sound really close to your goal - best of luck to you! -
What are good problems you have?!
Spinoza replied to AmberFL's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
There's a huge thread about this here already OP! -
Hi OP. Firstly - I hope you're OK with where you are. Sounds like your restriction is exceptional 4 years out? If you could provide more information about your current intake/plan/macros then people might be better able to answer your questions. Also, if you could make your actual questions clearer then people will no doubt be able to target their answers better! Is it that you don't want to resort to carbs in order not to lose more weight? If so, what are you currently eating, what is your BMI, what do you want to re-examine??? We're all here and eager to help you xxx

More stats would be really helpful OP - agree with Arabesque. If you're close to your goal weight or a 'normal' BMI then weight loss will naturally slow and can plateau for long periods but then lose some more. A few pounds on shouldn't necessarily mean the end of your loss forever. If you're straying from your programme then it might be good to stick to that rigidly for a few weeks to see if it will get you back on track.
