Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first
Bill Potts replied to chiquitatummy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Being heavy really destroyed my knees and hips. Now they are getting closer and closer to being normal. I have now lost 158 lb and It took 480 days. That number 158 lb happens to be how much my lady friend weighs. So, 480 days ago my life was as if I carried her on my back day-in and day-out, 24 hours a day and seven days a week for all of the preceding years. That is very sobering! -

I can sit in a booth again and behind my steering wheel without rubbing my belly. -

Good Luck😀 Use a digital kitchen timer to drink liquids. Take a small sip every 4 minutes. -

I am also happy that I can climb a step ladder now to change a lightbulb. I live alone so I never turned on overhead lights. Oh, and get up off the floor. -

What foods have you broken up with?
Bill Potts replied to Smanky's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If you want a morning hitch in your giddy-up and you don't want caffeine, try theobromine. It is the major stimulant in cacao beans that is used to make cocoa powder. Theobromine gives these benefits; mood booster, better sleep, breathe better, lowers blood pressure and improves cardiac health accorging to the National Institute of Health. I buy a product from Amazon.com called Fermented Cacao Nibs by Terrasoul. The nibs are broken pieces, easliy chewable, of cocoa beans before they are cooked at high temperatures which destroys the benefits. I put a teaspoon in my cereal in the morning. They have a strong chocolate taste without the sugar. Don't eat too much. Like any good thing, you can overdo it. -
Thanks Vikingbeast, I will look it over. I have already paid for premium mfp, though.

My bariatrics team says that a runny nose is common after eating a large meal for us gastric sleeve people. It's something about a nerve. Does anyone know any more about this.?

My first dumping syndrome happened with raw green lettuce. Second with brussels sprouts, which I loved, but haven't touched since. And I never will ! -

I have a funny one... I have lost 155 lb and have a lot of wrinkles. So, I bought some compression pants and shirt. I had to go to Home Depot to buy a few building supplies. I put my sweat pants on over my brand new compression clothes and was walking through the parking lot with an arm load of stuff. And.... My sweatpants fell down to my ankles. Hahaha, I was so embarrassed. Watch out for those slippery compression pants when your butt is flat as a pancake. 😂😂😂 -

Jerald 180, it's called shoulder tip pain. I had it too. It lasted about 5 or 6 days. It was worse pain than my belly. There is a lot of information about it on the internet. -

Yes Orinskye, you can injure your kidneys eating too much protein, particulary so when you don't drink enough fluids, not to mention to cause gout. -
I am a myfitnesspal paid version fan, though there are several things I don't like. 1. Too many glossy pictures of food. I am trying to avoid all the glamour surrounding food. Food should be a tool to stay alive or prevent illness. Most of the obesity epidemic is due to advertising. The remainder is due to ignorance about nutrition, nutrition labels and the actions of unscrupulous food processors. 2. Much of the data is untrustworthy. People constantly post foods that don't even have all the information on a nutrion panel let alone the correct info. 3. I have to enter the nutrition data myself in my foods section for everthing I eat. 4. Myfitnesspal is not providing support for bariatric people or for people that weigh all of their foods. I have been using myfitnesspal for over 7 years now and lost over 100 lb three times while using it. It otherwise is the best thing out there to use.

I am retired. So, I am not in a hurry to eat when I wake. In fact, I wake at 7 am and have 4 cups of weak decaf coffee before I eat breakfast at 10 or 10:30. I have been trying to slow down my weight loss. I am far past my goal and have lost a lot of muscle. So, I eat between 110 and 125 grams of protein and workout in the gym. -

Am I really going to live on 1000 calories?
Bill Potts replied to doobie31's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Chantrella, I used to be very concerned about not getting 1200 to 1500 calories, so I would purposely add a little oil to my egg whites, vegetables and meats etc. I added either olive or canola oil. Both are high in monounsaturated fats, the good stuff. I am not talking much just a few grams. 14 grams is worth 120 cal. I always tried to get at least 1200 cal. Now a days I typically eat at least 1500 cal daily. It helps a lot to use a kitchen scale and a good food database like myfitnesspal to get a true measure of what you are eating. I am on myfitnesspal and my profile is public. If you want to see, my account is wmpottsjr. Just friend me. -

Hi Shopgirl. Yes I do somthing similar. Breakfast is my largest meal and every morning I eat: Unsalted mixed nuts. 30g Kashi Autumn Wheat Cereal 30g Fat free plain greek yogurt 170g One medium peeled boiled egg 44g 1/2 avacado 60g Slice Swiss Cheese, 35% reduced fat 23g. I sometimes eat 120g of blueberries instead of the avacado. That is really filling. My two other meals are smaller. -
