    First Fill after 9 Years

Just got back from Doctor. Told him the .5 ml didn't feel that different the last 7 days. Have dropped two lbs though. So he put in another .5 ml. So I am up to 4 ml in a 6 ml band. "Onward and Downward" thanks for your support.

    First Fill after 9 Years

Weight before surgery 281 lbs (bad news folks) Got it down to 237 lbs (good news folks) Got on the sacles this week 266 lbs (sad face folks) Booked in for a fill, had 3 ml in there from first fill after surgery. Doc put in another .5 ml and said see me in a week . Been back at the gym all week and taking it a day at a time. Can't beleive I got this complacient when I have a lap band and your ongoing support. It has been almost nine years and you sort of forget its there to be used.

    I'm Ready To Quit.

Also have to say, if you quit you know how you are going to feel, defeated. You have been there before. If you battle ahead it will all be new territory. Feelings you have never had before. Battle on!

    I'm Ready To Quit.

I am a Canadian living in Australia. I can relate to what you are experiencing. The medical profession live in another dimension to us, I have had to accept and live with that. This helps. My band was done here in Melbourne. The Optifast lead up was a real chalenge. I had a real battle getting through it. But faced with the everyday inconvienience of being fat and having low self esteem overcame that. I was out of hope and having the band done was all I had left. There was no future for me as a fat person. I was sick of it. I tried everything and was still suffering from my overweight. Get through it, think about a real, ongoing new future. An experience like never before. Feel like Alice before she went through the looking glass. Yoh have made a good decsion. Go through with it. Don't go back, you know what is behind you. Buick Eight

PB? Worse Experience of My Life!!!

StrawartS, I was warned of this but it was during information overflow time and I didn't understand it. Until you experience the band working and acting like a funnel, backing up, one tends not to 'get it'. Your inital post is excellent. I haven't lost much weight because I have not started 'using the band as a tool' (I hate it when other bandsters give me that term). But unfortunately I thought the band would be a magic procedure that would drop my weight with little or no effort on my behalf. Four months on, reality has set in for me. I have to get my head into gear and work some sort of program that includes diet (hate that word too) exercise and the lap band. It is all in the mind and motivation is the word. When the band is put in they also need to do some brain surgery or a program re-set of our mind. After all if it wasn't for that thing on our shoulders controlling what goes into our guts, we wouldn't be in this sad state to begin with. I am a bit vexed with the whole thing at the moment too. Need some support to get the momentum and mind set into weight loss mode.

BeachBander, I experienced the same thing and the same worries. It is all OK. It takes time. Just had my second fill yesterday and my concerns are over. I am restricted and it is working. Relax and enjoy the journey.

    Food was my friend

Just had a fill yesterday and it is tight! Have found I am eating just a little all day. It has taken all day to go through 3 pieces of bread and 1 /12 pieces of fruit and a 1/2 cup of pasta. If I eat more than a mouthfull every 10 min or so the band LETS ME KNOW IT! Is this anyone elses experience?

    Howdy

Shannon, It is journey like no other. My experience five months down the track is that it takes a bit more time than I expected to begin 'working with the lap band' I'm just starting to learn. You are doing the right thing, relax and enjoy the journey. You have selected the best option.
