You will get there. My Dr told me not to expect more than a pound a week. And if you were on the liquid diet for 4 weeks then you probably lost a big chunk of weight to begin with. Also make sure you are taking in enough good calories. When you limit your caloric intake to very low amounts your body will hold on tight to any calories you take in. Good luck and please be patient.

I to have reached what I think is my first plateau. I have lost about 60 lbs pretty steady since the dreaded liquid diet and surgery last March now im stuck. I missed my last fill appointment because I didnt think I needed a fill but got another appointment made and am going to make it. I still purge almost daily mostly after trying to eat breakfast. Breakfast is my nemisis. I can not do it. Does any one else have that problem?

i to have gas and my kids think its funny. It dosnt bother them and i can control it. If this is the most i have to worry about after surgery then im doing pretty good!

The monster of life seems to hit alot of people just when things are looking brighter. I to have more than my fair share of bad things happening right now. I to find myself eating more than I should untill I had an apyphany (or how ever you spell it). If I get sick then things will be worse. If your healthy things will be easier to get through than if your not. I mean healthy mentally as well. Every thing happens for a reason, but you have the choice to how you react to them. Its a great thing if you think about it. No matter what comes your way you have a choice on how you react to them. wow! So when somthing gets you down then choose to react in a positive light. Its sounds like nothing but positive thinking is contagious. You will find more soulutions to lifes little problems if you react positivly then if you react like its the end of the world. Trust me it works. This is a lifes journey we have began and life is a long process. We will always find the bumps in the road. I find the bumps like a roller coaster thrill ride. I try to enjoy every minute of every day. I hope you find your way and remember to keep posting it truly helps to have a little outlet. Jim

I have never heard of gastric bypass surgery being laproscopic (or however you spell it.). Gastric bypass is a more invasive surgery that my Doctor said is used for the more extream people who have more serious health risk. If you are only 90 lbs over weight will your insurance cover either proceedure? The lap band seems the way to go for you. You could lose all 90 lbs with the lap band Ive lost 40 lbs in one month and thats nearley 50% of what I want to lose. You will feel much better faster with the band than by-pass.

I went shopping today for some new clothes. For the first time in many years I now fit into a 38 waist pants. I have lost nearly 40 lbs in less than 2 months. The thought occured to me that as I lose more weight that the new clothes I just bought are going to be to big (hopefully) in a couple of months. So the thought occured to me that others might have the same problem. I think that it would be fun to possibly do a close exchange for slightly used clothes that dont fit us any more.In this very tough economic time we live in it would be a great way to save people money. Any way it was just an idea.

Tuesdy I went in for my first fill. The process isnt that bad. When the Dr. handed me a cup of water and told me to take a sip to see if every thing is ok, I should of said no but instead i let the discomfort go and 2 days later i was back in his office having some taken out. People we have to tell our Drs exactly how we are feeling. I was dehydrated and needed an I.V. couldnt eat or swallow any thing. I lost 7 lbs in 2 days, this is not healthy. I know i should have said somthing but i thought the discomfort would go away shortly but it didnt and i risked my health because of it. My Doc told me that liquids should pass easily and there shouldnt be any discomfort due to eating. It scared me into not being mach and telling the Doc exactly every thing he wants to know. Thanks to all of you for your support!

Caffine withdrawl is pretty intense besides smoking caffine addiction is almost as hard to quit. The headaches your sufferiing from are probably 2 fold. Sugar and caffine withdrawl and just the hormonal changes in your body. Also your probably not getting enough water. I feel for you because I went through this as well before my surgery. As for the panic attacks have you had panic attacks before? Where they diagnosed by a doctor and are you taking medicine for them. Talk to your doctor and he may need to change your meds. If youve not been diagnosed before then your probably just really nervous. I went through the same thing. This is a life changing event yet it is one that is done alot by our DRs. My surgery wasnt that terribly bad in fact I was ready to start doing every thing I did before the surgery with in 2 days after it.

As I approach the 35 lbs lost mark I thought about the last time I weighed this much. It has been almost 10 years and I feel alot like I did 10 years ago. I remember then i was concerned about how I felt. I feel great right now compared to a month ago. So the question of the day is Do you remember when?

Car, Remember this 1 thing : your family depends on you. No matter what you decide or how you go about it people in this world depend on you. That being said youve started the life changing journey that all of us on this web site and many many more have started. Read all you can got to an informational meeting. As for the process once youve started it you will learn so much about your self. Things ive learned about changing my lifestyle is mind blowing to say the least. If I can do this any one can but you have to want to do this and feel the urgency. The lap band isnt the miracle cure for our eating problems, its a tool to help us manage our lives. Going into this knowing this fact is important. Yes the band can help you control alot of the hunger we feel. It does limit how much food we eat. It dosnt decide for us what we eat nor how much we try to force food down our mouths. People for the most part who arnt succesful with the band didnt understand this fact. You will probably have to under go a pshych evaluation, visit a nutrionist for so many months before even having the surgery. I had mine almost a month ago and have lost 33 lbs it hasnt been easy but its been exciting to say the least. I am eating healthier than i ever thought possible and you can to . Good luck

Why is it that only the junk food goes down easy? Why is it that 12 grain bread makes me slime? Why is it that soft boiled eggs run through a chopper hurt and hard boiled eggs the smae way dont? Why is it whenever some one ask about your surgery they want to see the scars but when ever you offer to show some one they run away FAST?!? Why is it that only the skinny people say your not that big? Why is it that plain m&m's go down smooth but the cranberry juice backs up like a slums toilet. Why is it that I am posting this thread! Cause I like to ask why! Stand up and be counted if some one said "your pretty in the face"!

after loosing 70 lbs your body and mind have some what adjusted to your new lifestyle. First off you know what you have to do and avoid to keep your self on track. Now you only have to keep positive and remeber you have lost 70 lbs heroic to say the least. Positive thinking is the key to any successful journey. You are living a life that many others in this world can only dream about. Find the one thing that keeps your mind free of the demon of food and live that to the fullest. Maybe now is the time to take up that new hobby that maybe you couldnt do 70 lbs ago. I hope this helps a bit and remember to keep on posting and reading because this forum has saved me through alot of stuff even if I am just at the start of my journey. Anyone have problems getting "the good stuff" down?
jimdd810 replied to Britalian's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have found whole grain chips and low fat low carb salsa. I have not had my first fill yet and feel like I could still eat every thing in front of me but I found rye bread toated goes down real good and tuna and canned meats work wonders. I found 12 grain bread dosnt work for me. I also found micro-waved steamed veggies are a god send. I was on liquid diet for 2 weeks prior to the band and 1 week after (supposed to be 2). Hearty soups are a blessing. I like Healthy Choice. I found going to the grocery store is fun because I now read all the labels and find interesting different ways to make my meals. I often find some of the stuff I used to eat are not that bad. Lunch meat like very lean ham chopped up and add pickles and onion chopped fine and fat free miracle whip is great on any thing and can even fill wholes in your walls lol Good luck and find the adventure fun! -
I think that most of us who have searched out the lap band and have tendancies to over eat or not eat the right things fall into the trap of "if it makes us feel good then why not" I havnt eaten more than a hamuger patty amount of red meat in over a month. As for chocolate bunnies the easter bunny didnt bring much in the form of chocolate to our house this year to avoid temptation. Great thinking Easter Bunny! As i sit here and eat my morning instant fat free sugar free low carb cardboard tasting oatmeal i think and wonder what the future holds. I also sit here and ask why lol. Whats easy isnt good and whats hard is heroic so I am going to prepare my meals in that way. JIm

Day 7 Post Op - Sharp Pain in Center of Chest
jimdd810 replied to Kage's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I to had this problem. I did the gas-x chewables, with no relief. My wife went to the grocery store to get some more carnation instant breakfast and brought home the sugar free kind with 2x's the fiber. Bingo! that did it. Got every thing moving! My daughter says "papa you sound like a tug boat" lol. I still cant burp well but got the gas getting out like a champ. Try it. Jim -
Ive had the band since yesterday and i wont lie to any one and say i am very sore! but it isnt unbearable. Ive noticed that with the liquid diet i feel fuller longer and it is so far a big help. Onre thing ive noticed is evryone ive told about this surgery has said "are you big enough for it?" or "you dont need that do you you dont look that big". I have found this to be a bit of an annoyance. At first it made me think that I was doing this for vanity. This is not the case. The reason ive done this as yes my body might seem like it wasnt to big by others standards my back ached and knees ached and not to mention my health was starting to suffer. So to all the people who might not understand why we would do this I say its my body and I love me!!!!! I am always here for any one who needs support and an ear to listen. Jim

Tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. I should be rolling into the o.r. for my lap band surgery. I started this whole journey 6 months ago. For every one just starting this it is a tough road but well worth it. I have lost about 20 pounds already and starting to feel good and looking forward to recovering from surgery to get out and do the things i love to do. Jim

First Day Liquid Diet
jimdd810 replied to xandriacharlee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand you! I am on day 9 of 14 days and my surgery is next wednesday. Best advice I can give you is dont skip the shakes. Try to keep a normal meal time plan. It helps and drink lots and lots of fluid. Sugar free jello when you feel like you cant stand it anymore will give you a full stomach for a little while. Good luck! and what a great husband my wife is sitting here eating girl scout cookies and smacking her lips lol!!!!! -
I was told by my doctor that caffine aides in dehydration. That was the major reason for not having the caffine. As for the carbonation from pop stretching your stomach, think about it if it produces gas then that takes up space and can stretch your stomach. Case in point shake up a bottle of pop and see what happens. Jim
