I agree that everyone is different...my daughter is 5'-7" and ranges between 125-130 and does NOT look too thin. She has a small frame. -

I'm hoping I like it because I found it at the grocery store today and bought some...Will post a review after I've tried it. -
Unflavored Protein Powder?
Flab-U-Less Forever replied to Esi's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You can buy a sample packet of the Unjury unflavored for just over $2 the only drawback is going to be the shipping. I thinks its around $7 but $9 to try it is and maybe not like it is better than $25 to buy a container of it and not like it. -
My program allows a protein shake to have no more than 6 g of sugar and I am to drink them 4 times per day pre op for 2 weeks. Post op I am to have diluted fruit juice/gatorade (50/50 split with water) for the first week and then the shakes again for one week (4 per day). So from my calculations it would seem that they do not want me to have more than 24 g pre op and post op (minus the first week post op). Once I get to the soft food stage (weeks 3 and 4 post op) it seems the 24 ish grams per day is still in effect as they only want me to have 2 soft food meals and 2 shakes per day. Soft food is about a 1/4 cup of either minced protein or pureed carbohydrates like mashed banana. I looked and 1/4 mashed banana is 7 g of sugar. I used banana as it seems to be higher in sugar than berries or apples. I do not yet have direction for 4 weeks plus from surgery. Hopefully this was helpful.

7 yrs post sleeve---now revising to RNY due to GERD
Flab-U-Less Forever replied to gabbykittyvsg's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Sorry to hear of your GERD problems! I too have GERD and a sliding hiatal hernia so I know how painful and GROSS tasting all of that is. I was thinking of the sleeve but changed my mind due to these issues (surgery is Jan 18). Hopefully insurance will move quickly so you can put all of this behind you. Good Luck! -

Great...thanks for the info about the sampler pack. I think I will order one to check them out. I have put out a question to the forum regarding Isopure unflavored. My thought is if I can't find a flavored one I like, I can use an unflavored and make my own shakes as long as they are low in fat and sugar. I'm thinking protein powder + frozen strawberries + FF milk or something along those lines. -

I am trying different shakes too. So far I do NOT like Muscle Milk...way too sweet with a chemically aftertaste. I have some Premiere Protein vanilla to try. Any suggestions? -

Sorry to hear of you got Covid and hope you are doing well! This is a fear I have so although I am fully vaccinated and am getting my booster today, I am planning on wearing a mask while I am out and about. I live in a rural area where social distancing is the norm anyways. -

I find it interesting that the pre op diet is not the same from surgeon to surgeon. Some are all liquid for 2 weeks, some are protein and veggies with max portion sizes, and some are one day liquid. My surgeon has given me the choice between shakes and low carb high protein low calorie meals (aka chicken/fish and veggies). I am worried about the liver shrinkage so my current plan is to do as many shakes as possible. I say that now but come Jan 4-17 all bets are off (surgery is the 18th). -

Another Jan 18th here! I wished it could be before the end of the year but the more I think about the timing the more I like the date. I can still enjoy holiday cooking and start my 2 week pre op diet just as I would have started a diet in any other year LOL. My birthday is a few days before surgery so I told my family we would celebrate with a nice meal and small cake BEFORE I have to start the pre op diet. The surgery will be the perfect birthday present to myself! -
My surgeon is super busy as well. I started with the initial consultation mid May and finished my pre op testing beginning of Sept. I was not able to get my pre-pre-op appointment till mid Nov. Last week I received a surgery date for mid Jan. Trying to be patient but am excited to see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Acid Reflux or GERD post surgery
Flab-U-Less Forever replied to Angelina1210's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just decided to switch from the sleeve to the RNY because I realized I have heartburn a LOT and was diagnosed with GERD and hiatal hernia via my endoscopy. I never realized how much I got it until I started to track it. I do not want to have it get worse or stay at the same level. My doctor said about 20% develop it post op. -

Finally see the light at the end of the tunnel...
Flab-U-Less Forever posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My first post here after lurking for MANY months! I just had my appointment with my doctor after completing all my testing. It took me 2 1/2 months to get the appointment which was very frustrating. I'm glad I called to schedule it when I did! I had no idea how backed up she was due to Covid. She will be getting information from the hospital within the next two weeks for January OR availability and will be able to give me a surgery date soon. It feels like this process has taken forever! When I was done with all my pre-op labs/testing in the beginning of September and couldn't get an appointment till mid November, I started to lose focus. I couldn't even start to prepare myself dietwise and ate whatever I wanted. Now that I can see the end (or beginning depending on how you look at it), I am excited and can start my preparations. What did you do or not do to help prepare yourself prior to surgery? -

Great advice! I hadn't thought about trying to get used to "sipping" water. Thanks! I have heard that many find the RTD protein drinks too sweet after surgery. I just bought some Premier Protein Vanilla to try. Any favorites? -
Fantastic!

good idea with the vitamins! I know I need to stop drinking diet coke and up my water intake immensely. I am not looking forward to the caffeine headaches when I stop the diet coke (I don't drink coffee) but I know they will only be temporary. -
Any December 2021 bypass people?
Flab-U-Less Forever replied to mrsjo's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I was diagnosed with moderate sleep apnea when I had my sleep study required for surgery. The neurologist never called me so I asked by bariatric surgeon about it. She said that it most likely will go away by 6 months post op. She said it wasn't worth going through all the hassle of getting a CPAP machine and the various sleep studies required to have it calibrated for me for such a short time. If it does not go away by 6 mos post op, then she said I should look into CPAP.
