Post-Surgery Travel
Flab-U-Less Forever replied to Ceej0505's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
At six weeks post RNY, I went to the Turks and Caicos for a week. Absolutely no problems. Just preplan for food and you should be good. -
“Low” BMI Qualifiers?
Flab-U-Less Forever replied to Bluemoon29's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You should call your insurance company and get clarification on what the requirements are. My insurance was 35 with at least one co-morbidity (I was diagnosed with sleep apnea in my pre op sleep study) or over 40 w/o any co-morbidities. At time of surgery my BMI was 41. A agree with a previous poster...check your height. I had always been 5-'5'" but turns out I was 5'-3.5". Since everything was virtual until time of surgery I just rounded down to 5'-3". -
Multi vitamin
Flab-U-Less Forever replied to mysticcrow's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I use the Bariatric Advantage multi chew w/o iron (fruit flavored assorted). The first two days I thought they were gross but now I don't mind them at all. They do not make me nauseous. -
Anyone else have their first consultation over video?

All of my visits were virtual until the day of surgery. Everything was fine😊 -

if you have a Harris Teeter near you or a Stop N Shop, they carry singles -
I used Isopure unflavored powder and mixed it in Lipton Cup O Soup Cream of Chicken flavor. Couldn't taste the protein powder and it tasted good.

I think you took Arabesque the wrong way. It didn't seem to me that she was trying to take away from your accomplishment (she actually said "congrats on hitting your target"). It looked like to me that she was just trying to provide some facts about the origin of the 10,000 steps that Fitbit has engrained in all of us. Getting in 10,000 two weeks after surgery is a GREAT accomplishment and that you did it twice in one week is even better! I am just shy of 3 mos and my goal is 8000 per day. Most days I get it but sometimes I don't. Good luck with your recovery! -
Unflavored Protein Powder
Flab-U-Less Forever replied to IWant ToDelete MyProfile's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Not creamy but I could not taste my Isopure in anything I put it in. I did not just add to water and try that though. Mostly put in soups. -

I second the Fairlife protein shakes. My kids even like them. The chocolate is like chocolate milk and the vanilla is like melted vanilla ice cream. Those are the only flavors I have tried since I don't want to buy bulk and then not like them. Chocolate and vanilla are the only singles I can get at my local grocery stores.

Mixing protein in water or other?
Flab-U-Less Forever replied to mrsjo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I second the Fairlife protein drinks (ready made). I still liked them after surgery. -
Yes... I think also that you actually have to do all the work propelling your body where with a treadmill the "ground" moves under you. I just had my sons plant some plants for me on mother's day so the rain is good for that.
-
yucky day here...I'm in Southern Maryland just below Annapolis so you have yucky weather as well. I will have to time my walk today between rain showers or go to the gym but I find I burn more calories when walking outside instead of on a treadmill.

Is my weight loss on track?
Flab-U-Less Forever replied to vikki401's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you taking anything to help with constipation? I take Miralax and regular Colace daily. My surgeon said this was ok to do so. I had 2 bouts of constipation. Both happened when I didn't take my Miralax for two days in a row. I go #2 daily when I don't mess up with my regime. -

One more try before surgery again
Flab-U-Less Forever replied to Erin18's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I can eat about 1/3 to 1/2 cup of food at a time (I am 9 weeks post op). No I cannot physically feel like anything has been done to me. Currently, I am trying to avoid processed carbs, foods with high sodium content, and high fat foods unless it good fat like an avocado. I don't eat any bread except a extremely tiny piece (about two bites) of good sourdough bread at a nice Sunday dinner. I focus on getting my protein in first and then eating veggies. Most of the time I cannot eat many if any veggies. Snacks are a yogurt or light string cheese with some almonds or fruit. The recovery was more painful than I had thought it would be but by day 10 or so I was almost normal. I did have a large hiatal hernia that was repaired so that is probably why my recovery took a little longer and was more painful. -
Calories per day - 2 months post op?
Flab-U-Less Forever posted a topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I am 2 months post op and was wondering how many calories others at this stage are/were eating per day? My program did not give a specific number just eat X grams of protein per day and try to get in 1/4 to 1/2 cup of soft veggies/fruit after eating protein. -

Wow...1200 seems like a lot. Not sure I could eat that many calories without eating unhealthy stuff or grazing all day at this point. Not enough room. -

Thank you @Tony B - NJ @ShoppGirl @lizonaplane @FutureSylph and @acopas! My calories range from about 650-950. The higher days are where I made some poorer choices for snacks like pretzel thins and regular fat cheese. I think I will aim for about 750. I do get in all my protein and all my water. @FutureSylph we are literally surgery twins...same surgery date and type, same height, just about same starting weight. -

Careful with the beans...they gave me some wicked gas pains the first time I ate them.
