aww...how sweet with your doggies. my kitties are wondering when i'm going to stop flinching when they jump near me on the bed. LOL i hear you about being sick of protein shakes and such. but the time will fly. i'm a little over three weeks out now and back on solid food. it's been an experience i'll tell you that. oh and i agree about the popsicles. they're my lifesaver if my tummy starts to rumble later in the evening. they will always be in my freezer! take care!! and we'll all get there...one day at a time! :tt2:

hi malteselover! i too had a hernia repaired that i didn't know i had when i had my band done back on aug. 5th. they say the extra work they have to do does make you a little bit more uncomfortable and it may take you a bit longer to bounce back. i know i took my pain meds for four days after surgery. but it does get better. and you know everyone is different so don't base how you feel or what you should be doing by how others do. some folks have the surgery and feel wonderful the next day...people like me...well it took me the better part of a week to feel human again. so just take it slow and don't over do. i found that the more i walked around my small house the better i felt. so take care!!! the hard part really is over!! let us know how you are coming along! :smile2:

i totally agree! it would be twice as hard if i didn't have all of you to turn to!

glad to hear that you're doing well!! sorry about your kitty. can't wait to hear how things keep going! take care! steph

something tells me that our bodies have to get used to the abrupt changes. i think the only thing that i really took with me all these years of yo-yo dieting is that when you skip meals or drastically reduce your calorie intake, i seem to remember that your body's first reaction is that your starving so it holds onto all that it can. but i could be completely wrong...but hey it sounds good at least.

oh i so hear you!! i have my next doc appt at 10am and i'm so hoping to be back on regular food! if not...cottage cheese here i come! LOL

When You Say Something Doesn't Go Down Well...
thetvgeneral replied to Ineedalapband's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
hahaah i had that golf ball feeling...only...it's right above my right boob! LOL i figured that's what it meant. but thanks for all the wonderful information. i did in fact eat too fast one night last week...work was horrible, i'd gotten home late, i had a headache and i still had to eat. i wasn't thinking. and half way through my tuna salad i thought i was just going to spew! not a fun feeling and not one i will experience ever again if i can help it. you're so right about learning to eat again. -
wow!! you're one tough cookie! i'm a whimp...and couldn't believe it when i found out i went 7 whole hours without any pain meds. i make the dentist give me novocaine when he rebonds my teeth. LOL
-
in other words...try it i may like it. LOL
-
i agree...i've been able to tolerate much of what i'm allowed to eat...and at first that was scary. i thought there was something wrong. LOL going to have to find some of that powder. i so agree...the more Protein i eat the less hungry i am and the longer i can go before wanting to eat again.

just checking in...feeling the best yet. how sad that i could tell because i could actually bend over and clean out the cats' litter boxes. LOL my dad's been on litter duty for almost three weeks. i'm so anxious to try and eat some real food. i'm tired of the really blended up egg, tuna, and chicken salad. i've tried mixing it up with some protein shakes...but they just don't hold me as long. way to go everyone!!!

how cute!! it was fun for me at first...until i started selling 300-400 bags at a show. it takes me two full weekends to make that much. now this is just like being at work. so i'm glad that i decided to only do three shows this year...especially after i chose to be banded. will do! guess i'll try it this weekend and see what happens!

I'm not much of a cook but I'm finding creative ways to do many things as I wait to start eating solid food again. But I have a question. I know most foods freeze well and will start doing that when I get the go ahead. But in the meantime...does anyone know if tuna, egg, and chicken salad can be frozen? I have no problem with having a serving or two in my fridge to eat a day or so later. But if I made enough say for a week, could I freeze it?? I'm all about making things as easy as possible for myself, especially now with going back to school, working full time and having three crafts shows coming down the pike. I don't want to sabotage myself in anyway just because my time might be limited. I figure the more armed I am...the more I can stick to eating the right food in the right amount. Thanks!!!

thanks for the website! no unfortunately at the age of 34 i decided to go back to school and get my network administration degree as i got transferred to our IT department at work. as for crafts, i make scented Gelatin airfresheners, foam magnets and fun shaped crayons like dora, spongebob, princess etc. the next two months are going to be very interesting and hectic!

Ladies, Did You Get To Wear Your "Skivies" During Surgery?
thetvgeneral replied to Ineedalapband's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
wow! the things you learn on this website. i'd never heard of that beforel. luckily i'm on depo-provera so no periods! as for the question that prompted the thread...i had to remove both. at least you were just all patients. i work where i had surgery. and i work in our IT department so that means going to nursing floors to fix computers, printers, phones etc. so lucky me...those who saw me naked, see me fixing their computer. LOL but honestly everyone is truly a professional and they were nothing but kind and concerned with getting me better. in fact i just went up to fix a pc that wouldn't turn on and get a laptop to connect to our wireless and almost all of the nurses stopped to ask how i was doing. -
Tell the Truth, Did you cheat AT ALL on your Preop Diet?
thetvgeneral replied to Ineedalapband's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
can't speak for anyone but myself...and i didn't take it the wrong way at all. so no worries! i just find it really funny how the meaning of some of these words change as we all enter a new phase of our lives. before "cheating" for me meant eating another piece of cake because the first one tasted so good or having the plate of nachos piled high with all the toppings. and now...with this new mindset (specifically on that preop diet) it's like yeah...cheating is having a banana or drinking some gatorade. no matter what...we're all doing something wonderful for ourselves and only we know how our bodies react. i'd love to see some of the doctors try and do this! i wonder how long they'd last. my doc is a confessed junk food junkie. and everytime you see him walking down the hall, he's eating something. so go us!! we all rock!! -
haha...Boo very nearly got me last night. I had just turned over! thanks goodness she's so heavy...she woke me up just before i had full cat on top of me...LOL i make foam magnets, scented Gelatin air fresheners, and fun shaped crayons (spongebob, dora, robots, princess etc.) how ironic...i have a friend who moved down to charlotte, nc a couple of years ago...small, small world!
