  1. Very much how mine is going, too. Glad to hear I'm not alone.
  2. That's really interesting .They definitely told me the protein shakes counted towards my 64oz fluid goal. Only 32oz needed to be water. No way I could do 64oz of water AND add in more to get 60g protein. Just not enough hours in the day. I'm taking in every 15 minutes as it is. Good luck to you!
  3. Yesterday, my first full day on my own, I was able to get 64oz of fluid including 32oz of water. That's what I've been told to do. Is that what you mean? Or do you have to get 64oz of water alone? No way I could do that right now AND get 60g of protein.

One of the more fascinating things being a part of these boards is all the different pre-op and post-op routines. Everyone's experience truly is unique. Doc put me on the shot because I guess I'm at a higher risk for an embolism, I'd guess because of my size (410 to start), age (51) and history of high blood pressure. But it came as a total shock when the nurse came in to show me how to do it. I'm like "I'm going to be doing this to myself???". But just like all the rest, you make it happen for the greater good. I'm following the post-op instruction so carefully. I have a 15-minute timer. When it goes off, I drink an oz (sometimes 2). Every 4 of them, I go for a short walk and do my breathing exercise. I so badly want this part to be smooth so I can get on with the rest. And I am not normally this much of a medical rule follower! But I'm committed. Can't let all that money go to waste 😂 Also was UP 5 pounds two days after surgery. That's not encouraging, but I know that's normal and I'm not letting it bother me .... much. Looking forward to hearing more details from you and others at right about the same point.

Glad you finally got rid of it. I was fearful of gas pains, and they didn't happen (or if they did, they were so mild I didn't notice). Just lucky I guess. I got sent home at 2:30p Wednesday. Sleeping was not a problem. I took 2 Tylenol when I woke up as a precaution, but don't plan to take anymore unless pain gets bad. Thus far, nothing I can't handle. No nausea though I still have the thing behind my ear. We'll see how things go when I take that off tomorrow. Sticking to a very ridged schedule of drinking every 15 minutes and walking every hour. All in all, feeling very, very lucky. Biggest surprise was finding out I had to stick a needly in my stomach twice a day for 30 days to help prevent an embolism. Luckily it doesn't hurt at all, but did not expect that! Glad your home and doing well. Keep us updated.

    June 21st Peeps

Sorry missed this topic until now. I was a June 21 peep. Sleeve - went very well. Surgery at 11a. Took my first walk around 5p. Was able to stop being dizzy and drop the walker after a few steps. Go discharged yesterday around 2:30p. Sleep went really well. Pain is very tolerable without pain killers. Feeling very lucky. But following all the eating, walking, etc. instructions to the letter.

The fact that I was taken into the surgery room at 11a Wednesday and discharged from the hospital at 3p Thursday amazes me. Modern medicine is amazing. I'm very thankful to be back at home and ready for the rest of my life.

So how did all our June 21ers do? Mine went smoothly. Surgery at 11. I woke up in post op about 3 (problem sooner but that's my first memory). Taken up to recovery about 330. I think I took my first walk around 5. Ditched the walker halfway in. Walking is not a problem at all and I look forward to them. Just started feeling gas cramps, OUCH. I've done a little burping but no pass gas. Peed plenty but no poop. Having no trouble getting down my "food" and drink. Lots of sleeping. All in all, SO FAR, this has been easier than expected.

If you've been around here a while, I'm sure you've seen plenty of people who feel the same way. Then two weeks later "I wish I'd done it sooner". Hopefully you follow the same path.

Awesome! I'm right there with you. Good luck to both of us!
  11. I'm on my fourth day of liquid (mostly liquid - I do get a tiny protein and veggie meal). The desire to eat (combo of hunger and craving) is difficult. But what's more difficult is most of the day I feel pretty weak and lethargic. I can live with that - it's only two weeks. My bigger concern is - Between the meal and 3 shakes, I'm taking in about 700 cals a day. Will I be feeling this weak after surgery as well? It's one thing to have 2 weeks, but if I'm going to have 2-3 months of this, I want to get mentally prepared for that. Anyone that had a hard time with the liquid prep because of low-energy, would love to hear how things went post-op.

Love reading this! Thank you for the encouragement. Can't wait until morning.
  13. Hahahah. I was surprised my surgeon let me eat anything. I had always read a full liquid was the norm. And here you are eating eggs! I'm so jealous. 😂 But all is well. I ended up losing about 27 lbs over the two weeks. About 6 days in it got so much easier, like a light switch. And I'm very ready to be cut open tomorrow!

"Wayyyy less than the scary process...." My favorite words!!! I'm very optimistic about things. I expect it to not be too horrible. But we'll see. Thank you for the encouragement.

    Thing I miss most

Reading this is my greatest fear. I'm 51, healthy and happy, but tomorrow I'm having surgery mainly because the quality of my life is starting the deteriorate. And it didn't happen slowly, I went from hiking 3 miles without issue to struggling to walk a couple of blocks in a matter of weeks (due to back pain). So while the weight didn't get in the way of your life now, maybe knowing it very well could at any time, maybe that'll help you feel a little less resentful towards things. I've been seeing a therapist via BetterHelp.com since I started down the surgery path. I know I have a food addiction and I know how much I love just stuffing my face, and it has helped. It hasn't gone away, but it has definitely helped. It's all done remotely, so even time isn't an excuse. And they've been very helpful with lowering the cost for me just for the asking. I hope you keep posting so I can follow your journey. I'm rooting hard for you (and for me!).

Check-in is 9a tomorrow (June 21). Any surgery-twins out there? Pretty nervous, but even more excited.
  17. Thanks, I will check her out. My favorite so far is Katina Eats Kilos. She doesn't eat too fast and talks a lot during it. And does all kinds of food. So much fun and satisfying to watch.
  18. Wow! I definitely know who The Legend is. If it works for you, I definitely feel good about it. 😂
  19. Thank you! I'm not alone! Earlier today I discovered the word "Mukbang". You really can find everything on the internet.
  20. I had my surgery postponed in March just two days before it was scheduled (positive Covid test). It was devastating. I've literally never been more depressed in my life than I was during that period. The mental prep for the surgery day was hard and I had finally gotten myself to the point where was 100% ready to go. To have it taken away destroyed me for a while. My new dates is almost here - surgery on Tuesday. I'm once again 100% ready. I think what you feel is normal. And I think you'll come back strong.

Surgery on Tuesday. My Covid test is on Saturday. My last March date was cancelled because I tested positive (very mild case). Just asking for good vibes!
  22. That is a very limiting preop!! Maybe this will encourage - somewhere on day 6 a light went off and it got much easier. The weakness went away and while I'm obviously hungry, I'm not obsessed about it like I was before. Basically, I'm ine now. Hopefully the same happens to you.

June 21 for me, too. On day 6 of liquid and hate it, hate it, hate it.

    March 2022 Surgery Buddies

My surgery was supposed to be tomorrow. My 2 week modified-liquid went great. I was down the 25 pounds my surgeon wanted. I took the required Covid test yesterday and failed! I'm feeling fine, just a minor cold, but the surgery has been put off until June 21. I'm completely devastated. Very sad not to be joining the rest of you March surgery buddies. I'm not sure what the next 90+ days will bring.
