I am definitely NOT complacent with my band. I have folowed the rules, and have ended up with ulcers and now a slice. Comments like that are why I don't cone to this site much anymore. I was looking for support! -

Does this mean Slip? Having upper chest pain, nausea, throat pain. EGD ON MONDAY。 -
Slipped, Going Sleeve -hopefully, but now I feel pinching, pulling in port & stomach
kjhack replied to Bkhuffman's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am in the same boat ,reflux and nausea. Esophogram was ok waiting on upper endoscopy, I have to wait 2 weeks. Which I think is crazy since M.D. thinks slip or intolerance and wants to do revision to sleeve. What does everyone think of sleeve? -
Lap band slipped and gaining like a pig!

I was banded the same time and I also in the same boat. -
Wow. 33 days scary. Glad you are recovering. I think I am headed this way as well. Banded 5 years ago, great results year one. Then started having bleeding ulcers, I was hpylori negative, so that was a huge surprise. Went on meds and had total unfilled, 6 months rest turned into one year rest, now having horrible reflux and right sided abd pain. I had esophogram, which showed band in good position, now I have to wait two weeks for upper endoscopy. This feels the same as last time, maybe worse. My surgeon says that I would most likely be a good revision candidate, but I just want the nausea and reflux to go away permanently.

I am in a similar situation, I was banded 5 years ago. I did great year one and was down 50+lbs and felt great, that's when the acid reflux began. Over the coarse of the last 4 years, I have had 4 upper endoscopies , several barium swallows, most showing nothing but reflux until last year. I had an END, last September which showed many hemorrhagic ulcerations, aka bleeding ulcers. Since then it has been a battle, acid, then pain, nausea, then diarrhea. Ugh!!! I am now set for the next upper endoscopy, having constant reflux and stomach pain, I am begging for a revision to the sleeve. I am tired of constant pain and aggravation. Bad part can't gently in for endoscopy for 2 weeks. I hope all goes well for you all and pm me if you want to talk.

 I had to have a total unfil yesterday due to a piece of potroast being stuck. That was extremely painful. I had horrible pain in my back, unable to swallow anything. I had to go to the hospital and have all my fluid removed. I was wondering if anyone has had this happen, how did you do after the unfil? Were you able to get back into the normal fill level? I'm still waiting on my dr to call me back today....so we shall see what his plans are????????? Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.

Very discouraged! 9 months post op and 50lbs lost.
kjhack posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so discouraged. I had hoped to be down 100lbs by my one year mark. I haven't lost anything for a month. I had a fill a month ago. And I had another fill yesterday. I am so hopeful this will be the one that helps. I do feel restriction now. I am at 6.5. I feel like I am eating well, but the weight is stuck. I feel like a failure.... Example menu 6am protein shake 9am yogurt nonfat 1130 salad with tuna 2pm cheese 630pm grilled chicken and salad. So why am I not losing!!!! HELP!!!! -

Thanks everyone for their input. I started my journey at 267, October 22,2008. I am 5'7". I now weigh 217. I am very proud of that. I had just hoped to be down 100lbs by october. I know I am moving along slowly. I had a stall for the last 2 months. I lost ounces and not lbs. I saw my dietician last week and she and think I am eating too many carbs. I am trying hard to get all my fiber in, because of constipation and that is often times too much carbs. I also have been drinking too much milk. I had only been walking up to this point. I am going to try jogging. I may be able to do that at this point. I think my fill last week helped alot. I now have 6.5 in a 10cc band. It is so hard to find the right balance to make the band work for me. I have been working hard for the band up until now. So hopefully things will go more smoothly now. Again thanks to everyone who gave their input. I greatly appreciate it. -
Slim Fast NO NO!

My dietician think they all are bad. She is very anti-slimfast. -
I have had pcos since I was 18. I probably had it before, but was diagnosed at 18. I too was blessed with two healthy children. (girls for me). But your story and mine are very similar. I use spironolactone for the facial hair. It does seem to be helping alot. I went off my metformin a few months ago, but I think I am going to have to go back on it. I am 6 months out from my surgery and am at a stand still. I have rosacea (which they call adult acne) it is awful. I am entering a clincial trial for it soon. I fear my pcos is slowing my loss. Let us all know how you are doing. Thanks. Kelli

I am so with you cattoy71. I was banded 10-22-08. I am only down 50. Most of that was preop and the first 2 weeks after band. I have been at 218 for weeks now. I had a fill a week ago, but i don't think it helped much. I know I'm not getting enough water or enough protein. So I am going to up those and see what happens. I had a friend who is getting the sleeve next week and she said the same thing yesterday. Bet you wish you had the sleeve. But I don't I didnt want 1/2 my stomach gone forever. I want to do this with the band. I am frustrated with the slow loss. But I am not gaining like before band. I pray we can get through this together.

Hey anyone out there banded or being banded by Dr. Stephen Clark in Indianapolis? I am on October 22,2008. I am really excited, but also very nervous. I just wanted to seek out some people who are going through the same things as me or have already had surgery with Dr. Clark. I am excited to know what happens the day of surg and afterwards. I havent had my nurse visit yet, so I am just trying to prepare myself. Thanks to anyone who answers. I look forward to any new friends or any new advice. Kelli

Diffence between "stuck" & "full..Need Help!
kjhack replied to garyboston's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow! This is so me! I am here right now. I keep eating and feel full and somewhat painful. I have NEVER vomited! I just wish my brain would say stop! but so far I am still fighting that battle. Good luck. -
I am so with you all on this. I was addicted to regular coke or mt dew. OMG, I could drink 4+ a day. I think just being rid of those is a good portion of my weightloss. I am definately not going to try and drink one, because one would be all it took and I'd be addicted again. It's like they put crack in it.... LOL. Good luck and stick with it!

5 month check in..should I be disappointed?
kjhack replied to perth bridetobe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree with pnw-red, I am 5 months post op and have lost around 45lbs. My doc is very happy with the results. I'm guessing you and I are around the same weight, so you probably had right at 100lbs to lose. I think the people who have more to lose will lose it faster. I'm happy with my 45lbs, because hey I may have gained with out the band. So good luck, keep us posted. -
The only shakes I like are Matrix. I like the chocolate and the cookies and cream. You can get them at fitnessone.com or bariatriceating.com or vitaminshoppe.com. I love the chocolate, it really doesnt taste bad. I still use them every am for extra protein. Good luck.

I was given lortab elixer. It worked fine. I only needed it the first 4 days, then I moved on to liquid tylenol. Good luck to you.

I think I may be at my sweet spot finally! I am eating about 1/2-3/4 cups of food at a time. Breakfast is a little tighter. So I usually have hot tea first, then eat a packet of oatmeal. Sometimes I can't finish the whole packet. Then at lunch I will have some lean meat 2-3 oz and a salad. I can eat quite a bit of salad, it must compact alot. Dinners my hardest meal, I want to eat much more by then. I probably get 1 full cup in at dinner. Good luck to you and congrats on your loss!

I have heard that some people fast prior to a fill. Then go on liquid diets after for 24-48 hours. My doc says 24 hours post fill, soft diet. I just wonder if I would have better restriction if I go in without a full tummy. They have never given me any instruction on what to eat or not eat before a fill. Thanks for your advice.

If you're discouraged about never achieving restriction, read this...
