That's awesome though. I'm down 39lbs as of today. I started at 324 and I'm down to 285. My clothes keep getting bigger. I love it. I'm finally able to do things I wasn't able to do before. -

that's great to hear! I'm down about 35lbs now. I was banded on June 30, 2008. I hit a plateau but I'm starting to lose again. I don't go to my support groups anymore. I was banded at Jewish Hospital in Kenwood. The dietician they assigned me to is a real b!$*%. She offers no encouragement at all. She only talks down to you if you don't eat right or whatever. No one at the office liked her. I don't know why they keep her if she's so rude to everyone. Anyway, I'm doing great now. I love it. -
I'm down to wearing a 2x shirt now. (down from a 4x just over a month ago) What size should I order of these? I'd say maybe an XL so there's more support or no?

Yes they are very normal Deb. I was worried about how I was going to stick to it too. But you really have to get your mind ready for this. The lapband isn't the end-all answer to weight loss. You really have to do a lot of work yourself. At first after surgery, you really don't have an appetite. At least I didn't. Yogurt and such can get really old but you have to have a strong mind. But if you're dedicated enough to get this far into the process then your mind is already strong enough to do what you have to do. Once you are all healed up, you will get cravings here and there for things. No one is perfect. I've cheated a couple of times. But as long as you stay on the diet that your surgeon and nurses give you you'll do fine. There are plenty of different recipes for shakes and smoothies you can make to help get some more flavor and protein in your diet. If you don't have a blender, buy one. It will be your best friend. lol Just start now by lowering the amounts you eat and eating better foods so you are ready after surgery. Once you stop eating all those greasy foods and such, you won't want to eat them anymore b/c you feel so much better mentally and physically. I can't tell you how much better I feel now that I don't eat as much fast food and fattening foods. It's amazing what I can do in the gym now. So just start now on getting ready for the diet. That way your mind is where it has to be. Remember, it's all mental. Once you fix that, you're good to go! Feel free to email me whenever you have a question or concern. I'll be glad to help you with whatever you need. My email is randy@sidefx.org.

You're well on your way already Deb. I'd say just make sure to stick with the diet and you'll do great. Don't hesitate to call the doctor if you feel anything weird either. Do you have any questions or concerns?

Congrats on getting banded. I work in Warren Co. which is why this caught my eye. I only tried to vomit twice. Well, I didn't intentionally try it but my body wanted to. It didn't hurt anything but if you vomit often, then call the surgeon. If you have any questions feel free to email me. email is randy@sidefx.org. what surgeon did your band if you don't mind me asking?

Hey everyone. I will be 26 at the end of this month. I'm 2 weeks along with my band now. Everything seems to be going well. I've lost roughly 23lbs so far. Still have some port site pain when I move a certain way or bend but I think it's ok. Nice to meet everyone.

I've heard that even a few months after surgery, that port site can still hurt if you get hit hard there. Has anyone been hit pretty hard there well after surgery? If so, did it hurt more than usual? I've always been big so training for MMA has never happened for me. Now that I'm losing some weight I do want to get into it. I have friends who do it a lot and have done it for a long time. But I've heard people say their port site hurts pretty bad if you get hit hard there even well after surgery. I'm curious to see if this is true.

i wouldn't expect to be able to play golf for a few weeks post op. the incisions are still pretty tender for a while. especially the port site. my port site hurts like hell if i move a certain way or bend a certain way. i've been told this is normal and could last past a month post op. maybe you can play golf but i doubt it. i'm not a golf player. i tried bowling and it didn't work out too well. i bowl twice a week and i've had to be off for two weeks now b/c of surgery. it wasn't b/c the ball weighed too much either. it was the way my body is bending and moving.

Today is my 2 week anniversary with having my band. So far I'm down about 23 lbs from my starting weight. I seem to be doing ok. I have some port site pain still when i move a certain way or bend over. Anyone else have this?

I guess the only thing that sucks is my port site still hurts when I move a certain way or bend over. Apparently this happens for quite some time. It almost feels like it's ripping open again but it's really not. I dunno how else to explain it. Other than that, there's really been nothing else. I'd suggest you get some protein powder to add to your drinks to help get your goal for protein each day. It's very hard for me each day to hit my goal so I bought flavorless protein powder from GNC to add to my shakes or food. That helps a lot. -

I am from Cincy and currently looking for a house in all the areas you are talking about. My fiance's parents live on the east side as well as my grandparents so I'm out there often. -

I work at Anthem BC/BS actually. It took a few days to get it approved. My surgeon's office lost my paperwork and didn't send it right away otherwise I would have had my band done over a month ago. But Anthem is normally really good about approving these quickly.
