Trying to sleep in pain!
Lifestyle Changer replied to UniquelyMe28's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my gastric sleeve surgery done on 11/01. When I came home the next afternoon, and settled down I was in my recliner. For my first 4 days my sleep pattern was messed up. Also I take a lot medication. After my surgery some of my meds were changed and some were discontinued. All of these changes caused sleep issues. I downloaded Sleep Pillow app on my iPhone. I pick out some soothing white noice such as “ocean waves”. I set the timer or leave it so it runs all night. Put the sound on low. I close my eyes and listen to the ocean waves and next then you know I’m out. -

Hello All! Monday 11/15 will be 14 days post op from having gastric sleeve surgery. Friday morning on 11/12 I was experiencing severe pain on the lower right side of my stomach to the point I was crying. Thank goodness my husband called work and told them he needed to take me to the ER. From registering, triage to getting a room and seeing the attending ER doctor was all done with 20 minutes. By the time I had a CT scan done we had been in the ER for about 60 minutes. It turns out the hematoma which is from the Lovenox shots I was given before surgery leaked fluid. It then created a pocket with fluid stretching all the way to the groin are and pressing against the wall of stomach. This is what is causing severe pain that I’m currently experiencing. I have to wear a binder to keep pressure on the hematoma so that this will eventually resolve it self. For now I’m staying in the hospital for pain management and watching red blood cell count and watching for infection. -
I’m 8 days post op. I really haven’t had much pain. Over the weekend I’ve been coughing a lot due to my allergies. Yes I have a pillow across my stomach. I do hold it really tight while coughing. Between yesterday and this morning I’m feeling sharp pain on my right side. Just a little note. There was some complications with my gastric sleeve surgery 11/01. What supposed to be a 2 hour surgery ended up being a 4 hour surgery. Has anyone experienced this? PS: I have called and left message with my doctor.

I was wondering if your pain has subsided now that your 8 days post op. I had my surgery Nov 1st as well. I’ve been coughing a lot now than I did since the first few days of my surgery. I didn’t have as much pain. That was weird. Now I’m feeling the pain especially when I cough. I hope I didn’t pull anything. It is painful on the lower right. I’m glad you’re doing well. -

I had gotten a minor cold. I took cold medicine right away. I stayed in the house and stayed away from people to care for myself. By the 3rd day I was much better. Sending you healing thought and prayers that you stay health and strong for your surgery.🙏🙏🙏 -

Thank you. I’m doing much better with keeping hydrated. Now I have canker sores in my mouth. Not sure I got those.I’ve had them since Friday morning which was my post op day 4. Today is post op day 6 and I still have the canker sores. Every time I have sips of any of my drinks including water stings my mouth. I’m contacting my doctor in the AM. In addition I’m running into some issues with medications. I’m just so overwhelmed with everything. -
I would give up and think your surgery won’t happen until 2022. There is still a chance it could be done at the end of this month sometime in December. I hope you won’t have to wait until 2022. Sending you much needed (((HUGS))) and my prayers 🙏🙏🙏

I’m just about 3 days post op and I’m experiencing more pain now than I ever have. That’s because I thanked warfarin due to my blood clot and PE problems. Any time I have surgery I must stop the warfarin and have Lovenox injections in my belly it causes large hard hematomas. They are painful. When I had my surgery Monday 11/01/21 and it was a complicated one and add the hematomas on my belly I’m in so much pain. No amount of medication will Make it go away. -
Advice: Going through with the surgery
Lifestyle Changer replied to Namiland's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You could have your PCP provide your surgeon with your test results showing you have PCOS. Also have your PCP talk to your surgeon on your behalf. My PCP and a few of my other specialists advocated my surgeon letting him know that the gastric sleeve surgery will help my health and disability tremendously. -

Hi all I’m a newbie! I’ll be 3 days post op as of tomorrow from gastric sleeve surgery. I came home from the hospital after an overnight stay yesterday afternoon. Anyway I have a couple of questions. Has anyone have difficulty sleeping? I only sleep an hour here and there. It’s because I’m afraid of getting dehydrated if I’m not drinking enough fluids. I have wicked dry mouth since my surgery. When I talk it feels like I have a mouth full of cotton and no one can understand me. Then I start coughing. Boy does that hurt my belly. Has anyone experienced that and what do you recommend? -
