I understand there is no MAGIC when it comes to loosing weight, no magical pill or magical surgery. The only thing that makes you loose weight is less food and exercise:scared2: I've finally realized it. But if the band is going to help me and keep off the weight why not. From what I've read in here its a big help and that what we all need.
  5. I dont get it why can you drink Coke or sodas?

Im so confused now!!!! I have not been banded yet but Im really thinking about it. Im going to see the Surgeon next week but IM starting to not even want to bother with it. I've read some many post of people saying how hungry they get and how they are able to cheat. Helloooooo...am I missing something?? The reason we are FAT is because se overeat and obviosly do not control how or what we eat. At least on my part I can say I have no will power otherwise I wouldn't be on this boat weighting over 220 lbs. I mean why get banded then. IF you still get hungry and have to watch what you eat? When the problem is we all overeat. Please someone out there explain it to me. Also, after you get banded how long before your first fill. Im so confused...now I want to loose this weight IM so miserable and I cant do it on my own which makes me sick and ashamed.
  9. Ok so I finally decided to do the LapBand, I called my insurance (GreatWest) and they told me they do cover the surgery but only under these conditions 1. BMI over 35 (Which im there) 2. Weight management history which includes all of the following: A- Five year history of morbid obesity with an BMI of 35+ B - Review of weight management for at least the preceding 2 years C- Participation in a weight loss program for 6 months (within the last 2 yrs) with hart notes that include documentation of ALL of the following: 1.A dietary program for weight loss which consist of a low calorie diet. 2. At least monthly clinical encounters with healthcare professional who does not perform weight loss surgery. 3. Increased activity/exercise 4. Behavioral modification program supervised by a qualified professional. 5. Weight loss management history includes pharmacotherapy with physician prescribed weight loss drugs or documentation of why parmacotherapy was not tried. I HAVE NOT DONE ANY OF THOSE AT LEAST NOT WITH A DOCTOR. I'VE DONE THE ATKINS DIET AND TOOK FAT BURNERS AND LOST ABOUT 30 LBS BUT OTHER THAN THAT I DIDNT DO ANYTHING ELSE. WHAT DOES THIS MEANS NOW?????

    Any Regrets Out Their?

Hello Ladies, First Im also thinking about getting banded my appt is July for the consultation. My questions is what do you guys mean when you say the band feels tigh...is this an actual feeling or does it mean you feel full and you cannot eat?

    What does this mean???

B, I've heard and read the very same thing, until I found this forum. Obviously it has work for soooo many people here. For me this is the only option since I dont want to the the GastroBypass and still people who have done that still gain weight like that girl from Wilson Phillips so at this point I think it depends on you. I dont want to deal with what comes with the GBY. I rather bust my butt a bit more and get banded. Im miserable being fat I dont go out bc im to embarrassed I work and come home thats my life and I dont want it to be anymore. I feel like Im not me right now and that deep down inside there is a person who is confident, happy and outgoing. Someone who's dying to come out and do all those things I want to do like going out, going to the beach or a pool. I dont do any of that and i think is time i live my life instead of letting life go by. I just hope my insurance doesnt give me any bs about this because I dont know what am I going to do. I was just as confused as you are but I started reading everything in here and I see sooooooo many people have lost weight and look and feel happy. If you feel the GBY is better for you do it but do what makes you happy. Being fat is not being happy at least Im not.

    What does this mean???

Well that's just the thing...I have not been to a doctor in about 5 years. Last time I went was to my GYN and that was about 2 years ago. Im not going to Primary, Im going straight to the Surgeon. Anyway, I sent the info the insurance sent me to the DC's office and the lady told me she was going to review it and call me back. I'll you guys know what happens as I have my appointment on July 24th.

Any out there from South Florida!

Hi Belle, Thank you well I made my appointment today with Dr. Atul Mudan and I'll be seeing him for the first time too. My appointment was set for July 24. Let me know how it goes. Good Luck :biggrin2:
  14. Hello Ladies, So im new here as of last week I've been doing research on the LapBand I never wanted to do the GBY since I think is an aggressive procedure so after all my research I think the best choice for me is LapBand. I have my Dr. Appt. July 24. I have greatwest and from my conversation today, they do approve it. So here are my main questions. Ok first off Im 30 years old and I weight 285  (I have no clue how I've done this to myself) SO my main concern is do you really loose weight and does this really work. I mean all of us are here because we do not eat properly we overeat even when we are full at least I do. Im being honest!!! So those of you who have done the lapband please tell me your experience with it when it comes to cravings, feeling full. Ive read a lot of post saying they can still eat everything they did before but dont do it and the only thing I can thik is " Why have the surgery then, the whole point is so it helps you and restricts what you can eat so you dont over eat. Please HEEEELP
