Any December 2021 bypass people?
huskymama replied to mrsjo's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I meet with my Dr today I am to have surgery on the 22nd. I was hoping for Thanksgiving dinner since Christmas will be out of the way! But I’ll find out today! I just got diagnosed with mild sleep apnea so I am not sure if that will bump my surgery date. Fingers crossed it won’t I find out in about an hour! -

I’d tell him no more junk brought in or you’ll be homeless again! You have to take care of you not him! I am having surgery in December and trying to get my husband, our sons 19 and 17 to start making their own food. Today I made them a huge breakfast and 3 hours later my husband wanted a huge dinner - I kinda lost my s*** and told them all they have to start taking care of themselves because I’m not cooking for 2 months. They all three just stood in the kitchen and stared at me. I seriously thought they were all going to cry. But sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do - you know! He needs to respect you - period. -
Anyone Ever Cancel Their Surgery? I Did... Not Sure How I Feel
huskymama replied to You Are My Sunshine's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have my sleeve in December but that being said I went in for my wisdom teeth to be removed 3 times and walked out all 3 times fast forward 30 years I still have my wisdom teeth lol I can tell you from my experience with that - not the same but kinda - get some therapy before you reschedule the surgery. You have something deeper you should deal with and it is okay that you walked even at the front desk. I was in the chair all three times and freaked out so don’t feel bad. But therapy helped me through it. I still have dentist that want to take out my wisdom teeth and I’m like nope I’ve had them all my life they can just stay at this point haha. Maybe the holidays coming up is part of it too. I’m having mine December 22nd and getting out of the hospital Christmas Eve. I still have 2 kids at home so I am anxious, I am pretty positive everyone is. Good luck!! -

I have Molina and when I contacted my surgeons office to inquiry some information on the sleeve they had me pre-approved for surgery within 2 days and called to schedule my first appointment with the Dr. They have been great for me - I am super happy with them and so far they covered everything 100%. I did have $160 to the hospital for my endoscopy and a $40 copay for the endocrinologist. Also, if you do the sleep clinic at home not in a clinic they only cover SNAP at home sleep study company. They covered all of it but $47. Just FYI because it took me a week to get that figured out. All I had to do was see a endocrinologist, sleep study, endoscopy, see a nutritionist twice, and see the psychologist. Only 3 months for me from start to surgery I’m December . But my BMI is on the boarder of surgery however my type 2 diabetes is in the 300 even when I was 18 and 105 pounds so that’s why they are pushing it through so fast. I’ve had really high that drops real low where 911 comes. We can’t get it under control and it started with the focus vaccine in March - I had a severe reaction and was hospitalized from the vaccine. But I absolutely love Molina. Good luck with everything!!! -
I am having my sleeve December 22 so there’s goes Christmas for me too! My 16 year old son said … will you still be able to make Christmas dinner Mom?! I said nope you guys all will and I’ll talk you through it! Honestly thought he was gonna cry lol

Vegans and Bypass surgery (Surgery date 10/8)
huskymama replied to curvygal's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am actually a certified vegan nutritionist - was vegan all my life until I met my hubby! He’s a meat and potatoes guy part of my now weight issues. I found a lady on YouTube who had gastric bypass several years ago and she is vegan. She has great stuff on there - I don’t remember her channel but found her when searching bypass sleeve blogs and she popped up. She is older. If I find her I’ll post it But Warrior brand Protein Powder is Vegan and I love it. I’ve used it for years. I get my sleeve in December so I haven’t tried anything post op but there are a lot of choices for you! Oh just wanted to add - hummus! -
Cramping with almost every sip!

Thank you! I only drink from glass now as well so that concerned me I don’t use straws so I’ll just have to be careful. Love the buffet fork idea! Thanks! -

I have a question - on the subject of taking small sips and eating slow and smaller bites - I was told to get a kids soppy cup and use a baby spoon to control portion size. Has anyone done this and if so does it help? -

Hope all is ok!! Keep us posted!! -
I don’t plan on anyone knowing I got the surgery. My husband and my youngest kids that are still at home will know but that is it. I feel personally like it’s no ones business and plan on telling them I changed my diet and eating habits - not a lie you do. People get liposuction, boobs done, tummy tucks, fillers and botox etc and don’t tell people so why should this be different. Just my thoughts and me personally. I do respect those who go on YouTube and share their journey, it has helped me a lot but not something I personally would do. So exciting to show off the new you!!!

So glad you are doing better!! Just curious have you tried vitamin water or protein water? I was wondering if you did how you tolerated that.

How to Stop Grazing? Please Help!
huskymama replied to Blueslily's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I haven’t had surgery yet - I get it in December- but I have been binge watching my 600 pound life and I have learned a lot of tips and tricks but I also see on there people start grazing and gain eventually. Dr Now sends them to therapy to help them get back in track and some of them go back to the liquid stage to reset themselves. But the therapy always seems to work - we all eat and got to the point of needing the sleeve for some reason. I’ve been working on my hard before I have the surgery and I’ve lost 11 pounds the past month just by understanding why I’m using food to cope. Mine is mostly boredom and anxiety I have severe anxiety and while I adore my husband of 20 years he is actually the main source of my anxiety which surprised me. He is one of those people who is passive aggressive and always negative. I honestly had no idea until therapy and I have a Masters degree in psychology lol. So if you can I would try therapy see if it helps. Also our food away so you can’t see it - try doing something instead like painting or knitting, go stand in the porch and get some fresh air until it passes. I have been remodeling my walking closet/laundry room and bathroom. I sometimes only do it for a few minutes even if I don’t feel like it I push myself because not feeling like it is why I am now needing the surgery - at least one of the reasons. You’ve got this and you’ve hit the goal weight! Remember what you felt like before surgery and how you feel now. Is that carrot or whatever really worth it?! Good luck and congratulations on hitting goal! I can’t wait to be there with you!!! -
I have researched it like crazy it took me over a year of research to decide to even do this - I am right on the BMI boarder but I’m type 2 diabetic and my two uncles were juvenile diabetic my Dad died (very thin and very active) at 59 due to diabetes. I have tried everything - I went vegan for about 6 months before covid hit and got my diabetes under control and weight low but I broke my talas bone and did a third grade tendon tear in my left ankle September 2020 which isn’t healing and prevented me from walking much so there went the weight and the sugars. So I’m getting the sleeve to get the weight off and then I can get the surgery on my ankle. I actually love Warrior Brand Protein powder it is vegan but I’ve used it for years. The protein is 28 grams I use it to make banana nice cream and all kinds of stuff now - have for about 2 years. I’m going to get a few others just to have but the Warrior protein powders are not sweet so it may be a good option for me. I am not going to stock up at first other than sugar free G2 and vitamin water once I see what I like my husband will go get stuff for me. Also I’m making broth and soups and freezing them in ice cube trays so I have a variety and can just pop them in the microwave. I’ve been watching my 600 pound life - driving my poor husband crazy - but I’ve gotten great tips from that show plus seeing people not loose or gain and why so I don’t make those mistakes. My life really depends on getting the diabetes under control I am 53 so not far off from when my dad died. I’ve had 2 siblings already die 32 and 59 so it kicks my family in the butt.

I’m having the sleeve in December 2021 and I was advised by someone who went through it to get a coffee warming plate (found one on Amazon for under $12) and put your warm stuff on that so you don’t have to reheat it and it doesn’t go cold on you. I also purchased some 2 and 4 ounce little ceramic dishes to put my warm stuff in to go on the warming plate. I love to read your day by day especially since I’m coming up on my surgery in a little over a month! Thanks so much for sharing!!

Any December 2021 bypass people?
huskymama replied to mrsjo's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am getting the Sleeve in December- the Dr said the 15th or 22nd but will confirm with me the date when I see him on November 16. My husbands off the week of Christmas because his company shuts down for two weeks every year so he wants it the 22nd. So I am hoping my Dr will let me choose that date!
