I’m on preop liquid never was on insulin just metformin and my sugars are really high. My surgeon is having me see my endocrinologist on Monday. So if you have an endocrinologist I’d see him/her. My surgeon said meds are adjusted. God willing we will all be no longer diabetic after the weight loss. Fingers crossed

Losing too much weight...
huskymama replied to Highly_Undermedicated's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Just curious how tall are you? I’m 5’7” and I am getting the sleeve this month. I am hoping to get back to my high school weight of 125. My surgeon never gave me a goal weight -
I have heard that people with the hiatal hernia repair have more pain. I hope you feel better soon! Keep us posted!

Hey There! Any December 2021 Surgery Friends?
huskymama replied to armartin98's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh man that is so tough not seeing your Bari team. My dietitian moved to KS last visit and I actually cried. But she is still seeing me via teledoc so that helped so much being able to see her instead of someone new. I actually had to do 28 days I must say I think the first week was the hardest. I got prenatal gummy vitamins and I’m tolerating them well on the liquid but I’ll have to see what I can do after surgery. I see a lot of people get the kids flinstone chewable a. She said I need B12, Calcium. D3 as well. My sons took me to Olive Garden today for lunch and I had Soup broth no chunks etc the server was great and tried to get just the broth. It may not be approved but omg is was good and I got so full from just one bowl. I wasn’t tempted to eat the food, salad or breadsticks. I was super proud of myself and left holding my head high realizing I can do this!!! It’s just for a few weeks and anything is possible for a few weeks Good luck!!! -

Fairlife is seriously the best! I have to agree -
As of today I am down 14 pounds in just a day or two over one week on liquids. I met with my dietitian yesterday and she said I am loosing to much to fast. Because I am lactose intolerant I can’t do dairy and I’m diabetic so I can’t do fruit juice. So when we went through my food journal we figured out I was eating/drinking between 500-700 calories a day. So she tweaked it and added more Protein Shakes - I felt so much better yesterday no hunger. I’m down to a 12-14 shirt and 14-16 pants (tight 14 loose 16 in a little over a week but don’t take that as what should happen she made it really clear to me that I need at least 1000 calories a day and Protein is extremely important for my body to be healthy for surgery and recovery. She said it isn’t just about liver shrinking but also optimal health for the surgery. She is a sleeve patient herself and she said it will be 6 months recovery but she is there with me every step of the way! I wasn’t taking in enough calories and while I lost weight I wasn’t doing it the healthy way. Hope that helps! . Good luck glad you started this thread it will be helpful to many I feel!! Also no one told me to start the Vitamins with the liquid diet so just found that out yesterday

We are surgery twins!! I get the sleeve the same day! I met with the dietitian who saved me! Also no one told me to take vitamins at the start of the liquid phase. I only have 20 more days but I think I can now handle it. Already down 14 pounds and a pant size and 2 shirt sizes in just over a week! -

Saw my dietitian yesterday and I’m down 14 pounds in one week. She said I’m loosing to much to fast so we went over my food diary and because I’m diabetic no juice and I’m lactose intolerant since a baby no milk so she tweaked and adjusted my food (liquid diet) I’ve already dropped a pant size and 14 shirts are to big now. Also no one told me I was to start vitamins when I started the liquid phase so she had me get those yesterday. I feel a million times better now and I’m not starving anymore! I have 20 more days of this before surgery date and she is meeting with me again next week. I am so glad I reached out to her!!! -
Hope everything is okay! The yellowing sounds like your liver. Prayers and healing thoughts sent your way!

Getting closer to the finish line, nervous about my assigned surgeon. Should I see if I can switch?
huskymama replied to lussa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I picked my surgeon because of his reviews 5/5 and he is also a GI Dr as well as a colon cancer Dr. He has amazing bedside manners and when he did my endoscopy I was just coming out from being under and I asked him if he saw any little green men in my tummy (I was groggy still) he laughed and teased me back and grabbed my toes. My husband said he was very kind in explaining to him everything so I take reviews very seriously. Check and see if you can find reviews on more than one place otherwise if your gut says change Drs I’d change -

I only have/had 80 pounds to loose I have been on the liquid diet for a week now and already lost 10 pounds. My surgery isn’t until December 22. I have been starving for a week where my hubby can hear my tummy growling and my blood sugars are in the mid 200s with medication! I meet with my dietician in the morning. I am hoping she will shed some light on what more I can do. I’m only allowed 2 protein shakes a day also. Anyone else starving? If so what do you do that helps? -

Good luck!!! -
There is a Baritastic app that is very easy to use to track your calories. You can scan items or manually add them. Super quick super easy just go to your App Store and search Baritastic you will find it. I’ve watched my 600 pound life and it seems that they do not loose weight or start to regain when they eat to high of calories or wrong food. Like mashed potatoes and gravy etc. remember high Protein low carb. (Maybe try watching a few episodes you glean a lot of insight and information from it) I would try to get in with your nutritionist after you have logged your food for a week if you still are not loosing. Remember the surgery is just a tool not a miracle! Good luck!

I see that too. I was put in it 5 weeks before surgery (I’m 12/22) it is so hard I did eat thanksgiving a little bit honestly didn’t really taste that good to me. I’m doing ok with the liquid but my husband keeps trying to feed me - he took me to Olive Garden Friday I got the Soup and salad only at the broth. It was so good but I got full fast and haven’t even had surgery yet. I think it’s just my stomach is used to liquids now idk. I’ll go on clear liquids a week before surgery. My book given to me by the Drs office says it is to shrink the liver, reduce the chance of bleeding or blood clots and show the commitment to the program. I’m supposed to loose 20 pounds before then too and at the rate I am loosing shouldn’t be a problem. -
I love muscle milk. Premier is okay I can tolerate it. I started my liquid diet but ate thanksgiving dinner just light. It’s a good time to try flavors and brands.

I get the sleeve December 22 - I have a torn left shoulder if they put it over my head I’ll be in big trouble pain wise I’ll have to be sure to discuss this with my surgeon

I know, right? I can only do what my body wants to do you know lol
-
I’ve used monk fruit for years love it sometimes you can find it at Costco and it’s a great price if you can!
-
Scheduled for the sleeve on Dec 22 was put in liquid diet today by Drs MA but the paperwork she sent me says 28 days before surgery which is way out from today. Also I’m to loose 5 pounds a week or 20 pounds loss by surgery date. I’m 216 and 5’7” that seems to me like a lot of weigh to loose in that time but I’m gonna try!
