    Painkillers

I never took painkillers or had an iv pump I was taking 3 Tylenol pils by mouth within hours of surgery at the hospital. I haven’t had any after I he first 24 hours. I was sleeved in 12/22 Fingers. Tossed you feel better and do not take Advil no NASAIDs after surgery ever again for life
  2. Yes it is cold outside and snowed most of the weekend but I cannot get warm! Anyone else having this issue? The house is running at 74 and everyone in my house is sweating. I have 3 heavy blankets on and 2 Siberian Huskies laying in me still brrr hands are ice. My husband got me a heating pad omg so amazing!
  3. No I actually just put a little on the back of the spoon and licked it I didn’t want a lot in my tummy Incase I can’t tolerate it. Before surgery I did but there really isn’t anything we can eat with it right now. I did get red bell pepper hummus but it has little chunks of bell so I’m waiting on that one. But I love hummus just as is and it’s got nutrition
  4. I feel the same way - I haven’t started meats but I feel hungry every few hours but it is weird hunger pains it’s like my stomach is super pissed and stabbing me until I put something in it - even water calms it down. I’m only supposed to eat 3 times a day the puréed food but I’m terrified to eat the tuna and chicken - I did get some today. I also got some hummus and cottage cheese. The only thing of these I ate preop was the hummus so it’s going to be interesting to see the flavors and stuff - how I react or whatever. I told my husband tonight I’m nervous about the hunger I was hoping I wouldn’t be. But I checked my calories and under 400 today but I felt I ate like a Queen lol such an odd feeling
  5. Sleeved on the 22nd and I can easily take in 64 ounces and have been a few days now. I was given the green to start puréed today and enjoyed some Tomato Soup. I tried some blended peas - ok - I think I’ll just stick to what’s working for a day or so. I did get some Vitamin Water and it made me feel way way better. I still start my morning off with a Protein Shake and end it with one but wow it is nice to have something yummy! I can’t stomach protein water but my teenage sons love them so at least they aren’t going to waste!
  6. Yes I do and it goes into my back. My surgeon said that because that is where they remove the stomach that he sutures the abdomen wall and muscle so that it doesn’t end up herniated later in at some point. I was the Dec 22nd it’s better every day except for sneezing or coughing. I’ll be glad when it’s better.

    Average calories

If you have Amazon Kindle Unlimited there are a bunch of bariatric cookbooks you can read for free! My program says by week 3 I am to shoot for 1200 calories a day, 60 grams protein
  8. Post op day 5 and today was a better day so far than all the days before! I am on clears still but can hold 3 ounces at a time sipping sipping. I hit my 64 ounce goal easily today and I can’t tell you how much better I feel adding salt free low fat chicken broth in today. I feel weak easily and just walking zaps my energy. Hope everyone is doing great!
  9. That’s great on the walk! I am really weak feeling today and the Protein Water was 3/4 water I took one sip my body said No No so I’m not ready for that yet. I walk around my house we have a huge snow storm today but I have a Victorian so I’m able to get a lot of steps in pretty easy. I have two Siberian Husky’s that walk real slow with me it kind cute. I did get a binder before surgery and it is a game changer for sure.  SW 227Height 6’6Day of surgery 210.5Today 203.1
  10. I would call your surgeons office and see if they can give you a few pills to help with the nausea. Mine gave me 45 of them and ai couldn’t have done this much without them
  11. Post op day 4 VS and I feel so much better today. I am able to get off the Anti-nausea medication so far today - knock on wood - and I’m tolerating Water and Gatorade zero very well. I am going to combine 1/2 Water with 1/2 Protein Water today. I’m supposed to be up to 64 ounces yesterday I got just under 20 but I think today I may actually hit that goal. I still have a ton of gas my tummy is always talking grumbling and squeaking I’ve named it bubbles because it has taken on a personality of its own lol. I have no interest in food none in fact Christmas dinner made me dry heave just the smell. I’m not having any cravings but water and Gatorade although when my husband popped open a Coke and pored it over ice I’m not gonna lie I wanted a drink so bad and it smelled so good. Funny thing is I gave up soda around 2 years ago so I was shocked by that one. Not sure what I weigh yet so I’ll post it when I weigh in today. I was never on pain meds - just Tylenol- I haven’t had anything since post op day 2. I live with ice packs seems to help. Also I know my stomachs had enough because I now sneeze when it’s full which is not fun l. Hope everyone here had a Merry Christmas and is feeling better!
  12. Merry Christmas everyone! I am not interested in eating anything and all I was to drink is Gatorade zero so I do an ounce of water and an ounce of Gatorade zero. I’ve got good energy but they still have me on Pills to control the nausea and vomiting which has a side effect of making me sleep. I think we need to start a new thread all about our recovery. It’s really nice to have this support from everyone going through it together at the same time and those who have gone through it already. Sw: 227 Surgery day weight 210.5 Post op day 3: 205.4
  13. Lady Godiva I had an hour ride home and thought that was rough I can believe you had 5 hours oh my gosh so glad you are home and doing good!

    I hit goal today!

Wow you look amazing! Thanks for sharing this I needed this today!!!
  15. Wow you are blessed. I just sneezed oh Lordy the pain! Lol so I started at 227 day of surgery 210.5 got home today 208 I’m not very gassy just learning my new normal I agree good luck to everyone!
  16. I would take chapstick your mouth will be so dry they give you things to swab your mouth out but the first 24 hours it’s like cotton balls in your mouth. I rinsed and spit with water do not swollen it the first day. I think the roughest part for me is I’m allergic to all pain meds so the first 23-36 hours was the most painful for me. The shower was amazing and helped me so much. The nausea is there even with meds but throwing up hurt so incredibly bad. When they start you in clears if you get sick ask for some anti-vomit medication they put in your iv and works super fast. Oh the other this is ice, ice, ice packs it makes you cold but ice packs saved me im still using them. Bring a pillow to put over your tummy so the seat belt doesn’t touch you on the way home. Good luck
  17. I have just been discharged I am holding down water, broth and sugar free Gatorade but they are having me take an anti nausea medication
  18. Had the sleeve Dec 22 started liquids today threw them up so they are keeping me another night in the hospital. I just took a sip very very small of water and threw it up again I just don’t feel this is normal
  19. I got to take Tylenol which is hard with very little water. The dry mouth was terrible and the pain today is horrific. My surgeon came in I told him I had buyer remorse he said everyone does until they start dropping weight and feeling better good luck everyone

    This surgery is bullshit...

Thank you for the two of you for your support
  21. Heading to the hospital at 5 AM tomorrow for my Sleeve - a bit nervous the preop nurse said since I am allergic to all pain meds they aren’t sure what they will give me. Bringing liquid Tylenol just to be safe! Here we go December surgery family!

    This surgery is bullshit...

I have a spouse who doesn’t want me to have the surgery. I’m having the sleeve tomorrow and today I am 5’7 and 211. I am a severe diabetic and to the point I have to have this even though I’m at a 34 BMI due to the diabetes and health issues with that my insurance is paying 100% of the surgery. But Mr has brought me my favorite things, tried to take me to dinner and get mad when I say no during the liquid phase. The closer to surgery the more insecure he is becoming (married 20 years) I am seeing my therapist more the past week then my entire life. I will choose life and health over his insecurities and sabotaging me. I lost my very healthy thin father to diabetes when I was 17. I want to be here for my kids and grandkids. If you want this, you want life and choose, as someone here told me yesterday, to learn to love yourself then this will work and you will be successful. My sister had bypass 25 years ago and still maintaining her weight loss, her daughter had it 3 years ago maintaining her weight loss. I could go on and on but I won’t. I think the first step is seeing a therapist to find out why you are killing yourself with food. Because that is what is happening. It’s a tool, it’s up to you to succeed. And I am fighting against all odds with my Hubby but I will choose life and make this successful if that means leaving my 20 year marriage. If he loves me he will support me and help me - period
  23. I did and had to have them removed. Such a busy day between that and getting the Covid test for surgery Weds!!!!

    Smoking pot post-rny

I love that! Self love is hard one for me that I need to work harder on. I guess most of us here need that. I sure hope you get over Covid soon it tried to kill me. I do think the vaccine did it’s job - kept me from the hospital and from dying. Walking on the beach sounds great and the fresh air does make you feel better. Thank you on the advice - I am looking forward to having “me” back and the first thing I want to start doing is riding my horses again followed by Hiking. My long life dream is to hike the Appalachian Trail and I plan to head out 2023 and accomplish that goal.
