    Started Preop!!

Hello Roheryn: Sounds like you found yourself a good distraction from this big change. That is a lot of hard work. Your body has already started to notice the change. My headache lasted 2 days and was gone. Take good care of yourself and find a way to pamper yourself for these two weeks. Kim

    Banded August 4th

:thumbup:Welcome Ani: Great to hear you don't have much pain. I am just a few days ahead of you, and it so much better gas wise. Once you are past the liquids get yourself some gourmet soup! It is such a fabulous treat, I can happy here for the week with that and some protein shakes! Take good care of yourself. Kim
  4. :thumbs_up:Leslie: What a great post. I am only a week out and every day have to think about what stage I am at what I can have, also thinking about preparing for the next stage. Thanks for the advice. The liquids are very simple to manage, making a puree of a meal or eating baby food sounds kind of yucky and time consuming. I am thankful for the Magic Bullet! Thanks again. Naming your Band?

Hi Lanakila; I love the naming the band thread. This should be fun and telling. This has been a very big step for me one that I have taken for my health, as in I want to live to see daily life, graduations, weddings, grandchildren. The other benefit with going from Hot Intelligent Babe to Slim Hot Intelligent Babe, a real SHIT!:tt2:, is buying stuff where ever, sitting anywhere, flying anywhere including my hubby's 145lb lap! He has never seen me below 220 lbs, other than pictures. Oh yeah the name. This band and program is working for me and since I am a Princess I think of the as my Knight , Sir Bandalot! Now I am going to go around name more stuff...I am inspired! Looking forward to the responses! Kim

    Bandages?

I was taped up underneath the bandages. The protocol was wear the bandages for 3 days and sponge bathe. Remove bandages on the fourth day and shower. No baths for 4 weeks and no swimming for 6 weeks. I have no cream because I am taped. The tape will fall of in 7 to 10 days when I heal. Kim

    Question About Anthestia

The surgery was short and they knocked me out so quickly, I remember nothing, which is how I like it. I woke up to go home with my hubby. Yesterday I had Reike and massage to rid my body of the anestetic. I find I slept like a baby and feel clearer today, and have greater energy. (which is why I am still up) I had kidney stone emergency surgery a few months ago and did the same thing. I highly recommend this therapy. Focus on everything being well and it will. You can make it happen......Kim

Started my new life 8/01.mixed emotions

Hello Hopetbthinrn: I had surgery the same day and I am finding I am happily on the road to recovery. I have 2 children ages 14 and 11. I try to join my family at the table (when there is room) for the connection and sip what I am having. Soon I will be eating with them and want them not to notice too much change. I wanted to cook my favourite food 2 days after surgery, spaghetti meat sauce, just to smell it. I had 10 peeps around for dinner that night, and they loved it. My sister had gastric by pass 5 years ago and she came by the next day and had a small bowl of the sauce. That provided me with great hope. So I won't have the Pasta and garlic bread, but I have the best part, the sauce and people to share laughs and conversation with. Today is day 4 and I look forward to feeling even better tomorrow, and having a Protein shake. You will find your groove. Congratulations on having a great husband, they make all the difference. Kim

Whey Protein instead of Optifast 800 for PreOp Diet?

I found the Protein shakes really made the pre-diet doable. They can be tasty and really keep you hunger free. My clinic sells a brand called Metagenics which is only available through medical professionals, at least here in Canada. The other one I find OK is Designer Whey which I get at a health food store. I add a little yogurt to mine, some ice, Water and blend with the magic bullet. I like chocolate . There are also sugar free syrups (like starbucks uses) in many flavours that can be added to a shake. They offer no nutritional value, just make it easier to swallow. The "DaVinci" brand can be ordered on-line (DaVinci Gourmet ? Flavored Syrups, sauces And Tea Concentrates) and is made with Splenda. You can do it, take care! Kim

    any toronto bandsters-

Hello all; I had my surgery 2 days ago on August 1st with Dr. Yau. My energy is good, pain is not bad. I am not taking any meds for it. I find everything so salty, so I am making my own stock right now. I found the protein shake before the surgery was a good meal replacement, and not salty at all. I look forward to the leaving clear fluids.

    Tell Us About You!

Hello; Thanks for the invite LanaKila. I was banded today, and this is my introduction to the August Allstars. I feel pretty good right now. Looking to have a good healing time. I come from a family with "weighty" issues. My Mother was heavy and lost weight through diet. My sister had gastric bypass 5 years ago and lost 110lbs. That surgery had her out of commission for a while. The risks with gastric bypass are so much more than Lap Band. I believe Lap Band will really work for me, and I it sounds like you can right back to life with little time away from family and work. :cool2:My husband and I have 2 :scared2::cursing: children and 1 :tongue:dog. We both work full time and I working towards a certificate at a local university for my next career. My job has involved a bit of travel and some long hours, and I find it hard to eat perfectly. I will need to be better at this! I can't believe that I weighed 301 pounds. I am now down 17 pounds with the pre-surgery regime. That gives me a sense of accomplishment. I know I will need more to keep going. I understand that the clinic has a scale to track the appropriate caloric intake needed to lose 2 pounds a week. Do any of you track fat, sugar and carbs? Do you keep a food diary? How do you find cooking for the family foods that you cannot eat? I can see this is a good place for support! Look forward to talking to you.
