Valentine Day Challenge?
Snowboots replied to LollyMoe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I definitely need to get in on this! I need a jumpstart! I am nowhere near my sweet spot, so I think that 10lbs. by V-day is a good goal. :rolleyes2: -
Hey guys! I've been a bad girl! Ok. not really, just having some difficulty losing the weight. Currently I am not at a proper fill level......and cannot afford a fill (whole other story) so I'm gonna have to go at this from a different angle till I'm back on my feet. Before I was banded, low carb & walking combined seemed to be the only way to shed the pounds. So I'm back to give it another go. I just started this past Monday, and would love to have the support and encouragement of others who are starting a low carb lifestyle as well. Any tips, recipes, suggestions or comments are very much appreciated. Anyone interested in doing weekly checkins on our progress??? If so let me know. I'd love to have a few partners in crime for this process. Looking forward to chatting it up, and sharing the experience with others. Thanks, and good luck! ~Snowboots

I need this badly! I don't have any specific numbers, but I want to get in a 20-30 min walk on the treadmill (with short intervals of jogging) 3 times a week in addition to walking the nature trail 5 times a week. Can't wait to report progress!

"Shrinko De Mayo" Weight Loss Challenge
Snowboots replied to coloradobanding's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My goal is 8 pounds. I'm a little late jumping on the band wagon, but I want to join in! I have been so bad and doing lots of stress eating lately. Hopefully this challenge will help me get back on the right track. Good luck all! ~Kim -
Yep, I too am getting back on the wagon. I am 3 months out and have not had as much weight loss as I would have liked thus far. Low carb has consistently worked for me in the past. I can't wait to check in and see what type of progress everyone else is having.

Where could you tell first when you lost some weight?
Snowboots replied to razberry*kisses's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
:tongue2: Same hear, the very first thing I noticed were a couple of pairs of shoes were super loose, and my bra cups seemed a little baggy. I can't see it it anywhere else just yet, but others can tell. I'm sure we will see some overall changes soon. Good luck! -
Hi there! I too live in Atlanta, and was banded today. Everything went smoothe. I have a little tenderness, and the infamous gas that eveyone is talking about. I went through True Results, and Dr. Hart was my surgeon. To me he is very knowledgeable, and helpful answering questions and concerns. I can't say that Dr. Hart is neccesarily better than Dr. Johnson, but I do think that Dr. Johnson must be a good surgeon if Dr. Hart works with him. The best thing that you can do is research both of their professional history and experience to see who you feel most comfortable with. Good Luck :smile2:

Now this is some bullish. Today I went to JCPenny, because they supposedly had 3 of the size 20 suit jackets that I was looking for available. Of course when I look in the plus section I can’t find anything but a 16 and 14. :tongue2: I ask one of the sales associates for help, show her what I’m looking for and tell her what size. After she thoroughly explains that the plus section is not her area of expertise she proceeds to help a sister out. She searches the computer inventory and sees that there are indeed 3 “what size did you say you needed again a 20?” in stock, but she can’t find them. She then ask 3-4 of her co-workers on separate occasions (at the top of her lungs) if they have seen an size 20 jackets??? Nope no one has seen a 20, they must be somewhere in the store. (This is the kicker) Then this trick says: Maybe they somehow got mixed into the “NORMAL” sizes, because this is the plus section and sometimes people accidentally mix them in with the “ NORMAL” sizes. In her mind plus size is not even consider normal. By the time I left out of the store I was pissed, embarrassed and still didn’t have the jacket I spent my lunch hour looking for……and you know that is a sacrifice. Needless to say I can’t wait until October 31 my surgery day, so I can soon start shopping in the “NORMAL” section. Ain’t that some bullish??? Can anybody relate? ~Snowboots

You guys are right, I should not be buying too many new things since my surgery is right around the corner. Either way I didn't appreciate the whole normal size thing. It just irks me that some people consider plus sizes abnormal. And dang, I wanted that jacket  lol.

Hello fellow Georgians! I am in Atlanta, and am scheduled for surgery with Dr. Hart on Halloween.......SO I'm seriously gonna be a SMASHING PUMKIN!!!! I just started my pre-op diet today, and it is a real treat :smile2:. I am nervous and scared, and keep thinking what if my liver doesn't shrink enough, hope I don't have to reschedule, blah blah blah...... Best of luck to you all!

I am scheduled for surgery on 10/31, and just told my mother about it this past weekend. She was really supportive and will be taking care of me after surgery. One of my co-wokers and I have talked about the lap band, but she doesn't know that I am going thorugh with it. The only other person I have told is a great new friend I met while at True Results doing my supervised diet and weight loss, and she will be having the surgery as well. In a way I feel guilty not telling all of my family and close friends about it. Feels like I am lying to them. I have sworn my mother to secrecy and have left my best friend completely in the dark on this one. I have had time to realize this is not about anyone else it is about me, and what is going to make me feel comfortable. In time I may decide to share my decision with others, but until then .

Things I won't/don't miss about being Obese
Snowboots replied to MissWilde's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I won't miss: -Wondering how it feels to be thinner. -My fat knees. - The sound of my thighs rubbing together. -Being the "funny fat girl". - Always wearing tops with sleeves. -Pretending like I'm ordering food for me AND someone else. - Not feeling sexy or feminine enough. - Being sweaty all the time. - Shopping in specialty stores. - Feeling disgusted with how much I ate. -Crazy grocery bills. -Not finding pants that fit. - Being embarrased or wanting to cry when I see pics of me. - Feeling hideous next to my beautiful older sister. Soon. -

Snowboots replied to skinnyoneday's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi ladies! I'm Kim, I live in Atlanta, GA and I just got my surgery date 11/7 today!:tongue: I'm a 28 yr old proffessional, single, no-kids. I have a kitten Roxxy and bunny rabbit Nala. I'm originally from Anchorage Alaska and lived there for 23 years. I'm outgoing and love socializing. Kayaking, camping and fishing keep me grounded. Music and the arts are some of my must-haves. I love spending time with my family and friends. I want to belly dance, take burlesque classes, and kick boxing. I can't wait to start on my lapband journey and start my life! -
Hi there! I'm Kim. Just ran across your profile and you look fantastic! I am the process of getting insurance approval for the Lap-Band, and am extremely excited. I too am in GA and would love to have a post-op buddy that I can talk to, and ask questions about what to expect after the surgery. I hope you don't mind sharing your experience and advice. Thanks Kim!
