Lisa, sorry you are in pain. You may be retaining water....how long you have to be on liquids? can you do any exercise? it may help you with the stress too. I had stayed in the same weight for a long time, I need lot less calorie intake that what the book said:rolleyes. Hope you feel better, Lidia

What was your numers on the resting metabolic test, I can bet you mine is lot slower than yours. Take this: in order to lose they recommend you stay on 1500 cal, I lost a little staying at 900 cal, that is exercising 3 times a week and watching my carbs. 5 pounds in the last 6 months? I barely lost 3 in the last 6 months....I thing is great1 Crazycibertalk banded on 4/20/06 225/197/150

I like to have: string cheese on hand to calm the craving. Other times I prepare a small cheese quesadilla, seems that cheese is the one for me. However I like to freeze yougurt and eat that, but I CAN NOT have any frozen popsicles or ice cream bars in the freezer because I would eat them all in one nite, I am out of control when I know I have them.

I am not sure if you started with a lower BMI like I did, but if so be happy!!!! I lost around 30 pounds in 1 year:angry I learn no to compare with others and realized that takes 3 to 4 fills to get the right one, however the sweets , ice cream, etc craving never left me and I have to drink water and eat lots of proteins to calm down. Hope it helps crazycibertalk Dr. Kuri 4/20/06 225/197/160

Hi, I am new here at the lower BMI but not new to the lapbandtak, had posted before. Why is that I have to kill myself working out before I see any progress? I know I know that at times I am not consistent with my routine and work out 2 times and others 6 times a week, but I have been at this weight for a long time now. Just realized that eating 1500 cal will not help me to lose, guess I will need to stay at 1000 or 1200. After breaking the 200 ish, I thought it would start coming off on a weekly basis but no, again stuck! Any suggestions?:help: Thanks Crazycibertak 4/20/06 Dr. Kuri 225/197/160

Congratulations, I was banded with Kuri too about a year ago. You are a low BMI same as me and also over 50. You have done very very good. I lost 30 pounds in 1 year, that is SLOW, just got my 4th fill. But it took a while to learn how this works and most of all how this works for ME. We are all different, I have been at 1300 cal for a long time and lost with Lindora, but then I put it back, my YO YO dieting had brought my methabolism to a very slow mode. I know that when I DO NOT count my intake, I ASUME;) that I am doing "good". Because the band only lets me eat small portions and 1 cup of food per meal, so I was thinking I am doing great but my weight is going down slow. Why? Well, after looking at my intake, I see that I am above 100 gr. of carb per day. ( yougurt, cereal, chocolate powder in coffee, fruits, margaritas, etc) things that are not bad ( except the margaritas :embarassed: ) but are adding my carbs even if I stay under 1300 CAL. The band will permit high carb to go in, but Thanks God, I can't eat bread and pastas. I realized that as soon as I get my carb intake under 75 gr, I start loosing. My conclusion is that being banded it is helping me NOT TO REGAIN MY WEIGH AND BE ABLE TO MAINTAIN, it will not help me with amount of carb intake, that has to be my job for life. I am very happy because I have not gained and the 30 pounds are GONE for ever. Making better choices of carb intake it is going to be a lifetime efford. Lidia -
You tell me!, I had been so close to the 30 pounds loss. Fluctuationg between 199 and 196, damit! I am waiting any time I will drop but it has been 2 weeks now. Just got a fill Saturday and first she put 2.4 cc and it showed in the Fluoroscopy that the barium did not go thru so she took out .2cc and now I am at 2.2. I was at 2.0, but I do not feel much different. I was already eating 1300 cal and excersicing. I have to watch over the week end, drink fewer glasses of wine and one 1 scoop of ice cream... have you ever ask yourself why people that started at 240 or higher lose fater than the ones started at 225??? I do! because I started a year ago at 225 and my weight loss is only 27 pound! and it is upseting. So here is a logical answer I hear in another board: people with higher BMI or weight have been eating lot of calories 3000 or more a day, so when they get to 1500 a day, they metabolisms start to burn faster and they lose fast. people that have a lower BMI normally already were eating around 2000 cal and going to 1500 or 1300 is not such a difference so the metabolism starts slow. the good news is and as suppose to be on a diet, that the weight stays off and does not come back like when we quit a diet becasue we are 'tired" or dissapointed. So, the weight WILL COME OFF it just will take longer for us. We need to make good choices and exercise. Lidia

It seems that when I am on track and following ALL the rules I have to be good for 2 or 3 weeks to see 2 pounds lose, however I know that I slip a glass of wine on week ends and once every 2 weeks is ice cream, but I still work out 5 days a week and stay less than 1500 cal, the scale is going down but very very slowly, one year and 27 pounds....

Hi All, My name is Lidia and I am 52. Was at the "slow looser united".... but I think I have to be here, like it better. I was banded with Dr. Kuri May 2006, yep one year!. and I did not lose fast at the beggining neither, it has been a slow even pace, strange but, what ever it is as long it goes down:heh: This last months things start to slow down a lot so I am going for a fill May 19. Hope I do not get completelly restricted, I would hate to go back for ab unfill...I can eat a cup and a half and have lost my solf point, only pressure is what I feel. Yep, working out 5 times a week gave me the body to fit in size 12 but my weight is still at 198. Still 48 to go. Lidia 5/06 Dr. Kuri 225/198/150 3 fills -
hi, I get emails only once every other day. There is not that many of us out there, I think. But, I know that we all surf on other boards or other places of this board too.:rolleyes If I weight everyday, I noticed that say start the week on Monday morning at 200 pounds and then gradually with working out and good habits it goes back to 197 by friday or Saturday. Then on Monday back to 199 to end up on 197 on Friday ( that is 2 weeks). At the third week start Monday at 199 and all of sudden on Friday I am at 196, so excited to come back on the following Monday and be a t 198.5 or so. Therefore sounds like that every 3 or 4 weeks I loose a pound. It is streesfull at times, but is going down. I thought that perhaps the margarita over the week end did it , but I have one every month, so is not that. I am continually working out and following band foods except for a little cocktail here and there. My inches are coming down and I officially can fit in size 12 NON-stretch jeans!:clap2: Lidia-Kuri 4/20/06 3 fills 225/197/150
