  1. In the I'm our post diet is so different. I was given soup in hospital 6 hours after surgery , sent home to finish 48 hours of liquid, then purée for 2 weeks mashed for 2 weeks building in solids over final 2 weeks.
  2. I'm in cardiff and was banded on 11th August. I've currently got an inclusive care package for my Fills at Spire Cardiff Hospital in Pentwyn and i know that after the first year i will have to pay for mine there @ £120 a go. There are 2 consultants based there, Mr Chris Wong and Mr Geoff Clark and they are both excellent. Ring the hospital on 0845 600 5515 and get them to arrange an appointment for you. Good luck!
  3. I had my band on 11th August and I was doing great until yesterday when I developed a constant nagging pain under my skin all around the front of my waist above one of my Incisions. It's not really tender to the touch but feels like pulled muscles. I went back to work this week and have been doing all the usual stuff I did before the op so maybe Ive just over done it or maybe there is something wrong. Has anyone else had this or similar? Should i ride it out Or Contact my consultant? Advice please
  4. So carrying my 2 year old daughter up and down the stairs and lifting her in and out of her cot and car seat wasn't a good idea LOL

pain under ribs on left side

I have the same pain and i was banded on 11th Aug. Under my bottom ribs on the left hand side every time i take a deep breath. Its not my port as that was inserted just below my breasts and dead central so i've no idea what it is. Seems to be getting better but over last few days its spread round to my back as well! I'm guessing its something to do with being pumped full of gas during the op and them working from that side, its been stretched and strained. When i came round in recovery i had emense pain on the left not really relating to an incision and had to beg for pain relief and now its just when i breath deep or stretch that side at all. Hopefully it'll go away soon!

Hi all I was banded on 11th Aug 08 and i also suffer from PCOS so once i get pasted the 6 weeks of purree det i shall be following a low carb eating plan too. Its tge only way i'veever managed to control my weight in the past and i'm hoping that it will speed up the whole weightloss process for me. Looking forward to reading your posts everyday for inspiration and support. Sam
  7. I couldn't wait any longer to weigh myself! At my pre-op assessment on 31st July I was 106.6kg. started Pre-op diet of low carb and low fat on 4th aug and Was banded on 11th Aug. Have now weighed on 15th Aug and i'm done to 101.3kg!!!! :biggrin2: Would love to know how much was due to the diet and the band bt even so i'm chuffed to bits with that in only 11 days!!! Only another 42kg to go lol
  8. I was banded on Aug 11th. I arrived at the hospital at 7am and my surgery was at 9.30. My room was fantastic, huge with own bathroom, flat screen tv and dressing table. Looked like a hotel room. I got changed into my gown at 9.15 and walked into the operating theatre. i got on the bed, had some oxygen while they put the cannula in my hand. I was feeling a little nervous but i just made myself not think about what was going on. Then i went to sleep. I woke up in recovery and i was in pain. My left hand side of my chest was killign me. I had to ask to lie down flatter in my bed and i was given some Tramadol through mu IV. This made me instantly sick, although all that came out of me was gas, ive never burped so much!!! I was back in my room by 12.30pm and the pain was quite manageable. I rang my fiance to tell him i was ok and then dosed all afternoon and watched tv. At 4pm the nurse (who was fantasic i might add) came to help me get up and cleaned me up and got me into mu pyjamas. I was feeling very sick after about 5 mins so sat on the toilet holding a sick bowl while she put a cold flannel on my had. I did many more belches and i felt fine again. Wandered round a bit more and passed some more gas! At 6pm i had some paracetomol via IV and some antibiotics, and half a cup of coffee and some broth.Got up and down a few times and the only pain was from the gas, my shoulder also hurt intermittently. that night i struggled to sleep due to gas and had some liquid codine which knocked me out for a few hours. Woke up at 6am and watched some more of the olympics. Still had major gas pains so had more codine and dosed till 8am. Then the nurse prepared all my discharge meds etc and i left the hospital after being given all clear from surgeon. I was home by 10.30am Ive been tired and sore. My chest feels really tight under my boobs and its difficult to take deep breaths, i'm guessing thats due to the swelling. I'm now having a small glass of yoghurt drink for breakfast, Apple and custard purree for lunch and purree soup for my tea. Only a few spoons and i feel full so i wait a few mins and ten have a little more until the urge to eat is just gone. I did take some tramadol at home as i had gas pains and wanted to sleep but it made me really sick again, i was heaving and burbing over the sink and the pain was immense so i've not bothered with any pain meds for 2 days now, really dont need them. I've been driving and went for a walk to the shops with my daughter and i'm doing really well. So so glad i had this surgery!!!! Good luck to everyone else!
  9. 9 hours to go!!! very anxious about it now. I really want it but i'm getting scared!!!!! See you on the other side!
  10. 33 hours and counting till my surgery!!!! It seems surreal to me, i can't believe its actually happening. Starting to doubt myself a little now thou, worried that i'll find a way to mess this up and fail like every other time i've tried to loss the weight, only this time i'll lose £7.5k as well!!! started to watch a video of the operarion on utube earlier but i freaked out and had to turn it off, where as normally i'm not at all squeemish! Shopping tomorrow to buy new pyjamas and all the food i'm going to need for my purree diet! need to make a list so i forget nothing. Good luck to everyone being banded on Monday and i'll check in once i'm home on tuesday all things being well!!!!

    Anyone banded in Bristol?

I'm being banded on Aug 11th 2008 at Spire Hospital in cardiff. My consultant is Mr Chris Wong who also operates at Bristol. Cardiffs hospital is almost hotel like and Mr Wong is very confident and friendly, answers any questions honestly and really puts you at ease. I first enquired over the internet and he rang me personally to discuss my case! First class service. After my first consultantion he gave me my date within 4 weeks!!! I can't wait!
  15. Hi all. I'm Sam from Cardiff, Wales, UK. I've had my first consultation with my surgeon today and we've set a date for surgery for 11th August!!! I can't wait. I was worried i wouldn't be approved as my BMI is 37 but because of my PCOS and my 8 years of Yo-Yo dieting he was more than happy to fit me with a band. I have to follow a diet described as Atkins minus the fat for 7-10 days before surgery to shrink my liver and make the op safer and easier. I just can't wait to start my new life on the road to slimdom! I'm very glad i found ths forum as i will be needing lots of support, this was a really good idea!
