February 2022 Surgery Buddies
Honey10604 replied to MeganMyers's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had mine Feb 7th and the same here I still have back fat and stomach has gone down but as you say a deflated ball and unfortunately my boobs are also deflated and saggy. Once I tuck it away under clothes you can’t tell but when I remove them it can be quit discouraging 😩 but I try and look at it in a positive way and just say that is a sign of all your weight loss if you had to pick one would you go back to all the weight or where you are now. I will take my loose skin and all the health benefits over all that extra weight any day.I will just say it’s part of my progress. We have to appreciate this part of the journey also because it is journey not a sprint. IT’S ABOUT PROGRESSION NOT PERFECTION. Make the best of your journey Every one who reads this post when you get down about where you are just think of where you came from not years ago but just 6-7 months ago and appreciate the progression.🥰 -

I am down 52 lbs but having issues with eating. Every time I eat a meal after about 3-4 bites it all of a sudden is disgusting and I can’t eat anymore. It could be something I really have been craving and as soon as I have a few bites it’s disgusting and I have to toss it out. If I continue to eat it is a chance it will come back up. Is anyone else going through this it is driving me crazy and making me not want to eat. I have already had problems taking in protein I can’t drink the shakes because they won’t stay down so I try and get it through my food but now am getting disgusted over everything I eat. I am trying to stay positive but it is very hard. -

Messing up my pre-op diet 😩

It’s a little tart but good. The first time I got the tall which is their small with one less scoop of matcha just to see if I like but once I realized I did I would get different sizes now I try to stick with the tall or grande which is the small the one above the small just to keep a check on getting dehydrated. -

Yes I really enjoy it the first time I got it I got it with one less scoop of matcha just to see if I like matcha because I never had it before but once I tried it I was hooked I began getting it with how many ever scoops come with the size I order. I like it because it’s not as acidic and it gives me the boost I need. I am not a big Starbucks fan I think they are overpriced I am a Dunkin’ donut girl when it comes to coffee but I fully support Starbucks matcha lemonade. I will probably get one today lol. Give it a try -
Messing up my pre-op diet 😩

I had the sleeve back on Feb 7th I had to cut out caffeine before the surgery. I tried to go cold turkey since I only drank 1 cup a day but I had the worst headache ever. Pain meds didn’t help so I went to 1 cup of half decaf then 3/4 cup to 1/2 then to a few sips to none at all. I did this transition 2 weeks prior to surgery. I was suppose to do 2 week liquid diet but to be honest I only did 1 week and cheated 1x in that week. I have not yet had any coffee but I have had caffeine 2x I get the matcha lemonade from Starbucks. I haven’t had any issues with it as far as my stomach but I am dehydrated some afterwards so I drink a bodyarmor lyte the next day. I want to try coffee but I am scared it may be to acidic for my stomach. -

Stalls are normal I had one at 3 weeks post op for about a week. Another lady I know at 4 or 5 weeks had a 3 week stall despite getting in her water, protein and exercising. Don’t get discouraged it is part of the journey. When I would have stalls before the surgery when trying to diet I would change my eating for one day. Example if I was doing no carbs and after 2 weeks stalled then I would increase my carbs just for the day and it seemed to help. Now since I had the surgery when I had the stall I just kept the course and weight started coming back off. I had sleeve feb 7th and I am 37lbs down 10 from pre-op liquid and the rest after surgery a little slow to me but I have had some issues and have been unable to tske in protein up until recently. I am now able to drink protein water so hopefully my energy and activity will begin to increase for increased weight loss. -

I understand your struggle I am 3 weeks post op I tried to take Bariatric Fushion chewables they were the worst things ever. I also decided at that point just to stick to pills so I ordered Bariatric Fushion multivitamin 1 a day. I will just have to add a calcium chew along with it. It has been hard for me to drink protein shakes I believe it is a mental thing. I tried last week and it came right back up. I will try again in a couple of days. I didn’t like premier either you should try fairlife they are not thick like protein shakes and don’t have that nasty after taste. -

Well I had my sleeve on Mon 2/7 . Barely any pain but had hard time with the anesthesia I also had issues keeping things down so they kept me until Friday. I had to get a little bit of steroids to decrease inflammation in my esophagus but they didn’t want to give me to much so as no interfere with healing process. It was feeling like o was swallowing a rock everytime I would try to sip water and I was unable to keep anything down so I was surviving of of the fluids the hospital gave me. I was able to start keeping water down by Thursday. Last night was my first night home and when I drink it still bothers me some more like a pebble then a rock but definitely know it’s still inflammation. I am concerned because I have to sip so little and wait longer between just because of issues. I am only getting like a half bottle of water down with nothing else but maybe a popsicles for the entire day. I have finally stopped vomiting 🤮 because that was also an issue but I understand when people talk about foamies. My mouth out of the blue will get really moist and salty and I have to spit it out. Hopefully that will subside soon. Off to a rocky start I pray each day brings about healing and a smoother transition. Trying to remain positive. -

Well TODAY IS THE DAY it is 6:30 in the morning in Ohio my surgery is scheduled at 1pm. I am so ready for this. I don’t know about you all but this has been a long daunting process for me. My insurance required 6 months nutritionist appt plus a few other and then I had to wait another 3 months for my first surgery date then that was rescheduled out till today . I am excited 😜 that it is finally here. Say a prayer for me everyone. -

I too am exhausted with the liquid diet. I have my surgery on Monday I am ready to get this done I have had so many issues along the way with my surgery being rescheduled then I had to repeat my pre anesthesia appt and on the second time around all of a sudden they mention a new test they wanted me to have which I would have had to wait for my insurance company to approve and it would be past my surgery date which means I would have had to reschedule again. I made such a fuss about it the doctor then retracted the requirement. Then somebody at the hospital dropped the ball and didn’t get my authorization extended since this was a reschedule so the financial dept of hospital called me 6 days before my scheduled date to tell me I may have to reschedule because it wasn’t authorized for me to find out it was the hospitals fault. After raising a fuss and calling and involving everyone it got straightened out but this was after 24 hrs of me calling and stressing. My navigator that the hospital gave me never responded to any of my messages. I finally went to the ombudsman. I’m so frustrated at the whole process. So Monday 2/7 can’t come quick enough. -

Were you sick or Asymptomatic? I get tested on Friday with surgery on Monday I feel fine but just a fear since I had a few bumps in the road along the way which almost caused my surgery to get rescheduled AGAIN. So I am on pins and needles. -

Yes so true I am usually not a salted Caramel fan. Someone gave me a fairlife salted Caramel and it was pretty good nothing I want to drink daily because it is so sweet but good. I just finished my first chocolate fairlife and yes by far the best Chocolate protein shake I have tasted so far. Most have funny after taste and thick and chalky not fair life. That will be the only kind I get for the rest of this venture . I also bought vanilla but I haven’t tried it. Waiting for it to chill in fridge. I will have this afternoon. -

Just keep trying I know it is hard. I am also on the liquid diet my surgery is on Feb 7th. I have thought about cheating so much I see some people are allowed chicken breast so I was going to have a chicken breast. Technically it’s cheating for me because I should be doing all liquids but some people can have it. I haven’t had it but I sure keep thinking about it . -

Yea the pre diet is so different between doctors some are strict with 2 weeks liquid like mine 🤬😂 some have protein shakes for 2 meals then a lean meat and veggie for dinner and some none until the day before like yourself. As far as work I am taking the full 4 weeks off. I have a sit down job but I am going to use that time to focus on healing and just on myself overall, something I haven’t done in many years. -

It is hard for me maybe it’s just me but I have always been the type if I don’t eat a little something but I get busy doing things like housework or running to stores I’m fine then it hits me like a ton of bricks no warning and I begin to get sick then I get a headache that sometimes turns to migraines. So I haven’t followed the pre liquid to a T if I am being honest but I try to stay on track. A bit of advise for anyone if you use caffeine on the regular even if it’s just 1 cup of coffee a day which that was me,wean yourself off like go to half decaf before you cut it out completely. I tried to go cold turkey and I had the worst headache for a couple of days and no pain meds worked. So learn from my error . I thought because I didn’t drink a lot of it I could just stop but my body said another thing. It does get better the more time that passes for it’s not even craving or wanting to eat something it’s more about keeping the sick feeling away. and I don’t have much energy but I get through work and completing the things I need 2. For anyone who thinks us having the surgery is the easy way out. THAT IS FAR FROM THE TRUTH 😂
