Hey peeps, This is my first time here and I am excited to announce that my wife and I are both having the VSG on November 8th! We are having it in Columbia, Mo with Dr. Nicole Spencer. We are both beyond excited for our new outlook on life!

Did anyone esle have to get a prior approval from ANthem Blue Cross Blue SHield for the vitamin subscription through Nascobal? The clinic is saying most of the time if they require a prior authorization then they won't approve it but not trying to get my hopes down. Also, Nascobal said it would be $488 per month if I were to pay it myself. My wifes was approved but mine hasn't been, different insirance companies, and I was wondering if anyone else has been or is in this boat? Also do you recommend a different multivitamin and b12? Thanks!

Hello Surgery friends! Just a quick update... I will be 2 months Post op on January 8th and I am down to 336. I weighed 375 the morning of surgery and 408 on October 24th. I am starting to feel like I haven't lost enough weight since surgery? Only 39 pounds in 2 months doesn't seem like a lot. I have stuck with our dieticians plan to a t just not seeing the weight loss I expected. -

Just checking in... I am currrently also in my 3 week stall since Monday. Surgery was 11-8. I have lost around 25 pounds to this point since surgery. Just trying to keep my head up and focus on protein first and liquids! -
As the title says.... Do/have any of you used the herbalife shake powders? If so did your dietician say they were ok? My wife and I are 10 days post op and cant stand all the premade protein shakes we bought but we have been able to get the herbalife ones to go down very smoothly and are getting the amount of protein we need.

Much better today. It’s crazy how every person is so different. My nausea has been absolutely terrible and my wife’s has been non existent. Pain wise I would say 80% of the gas pains are gone now just a little sore around the bigger incision still. how are you feeling? -

3 days post op. Pain is mostly gone just soreness around my incision sights especially the big one they remove the stomach through. Keeping liquids down pretty well I have 12 ounces down since 9 o’clock and it’s 11 here so that’s good. Also have had 2 4oz protein shakes on top of that. A word of advice…. Make sure you advocate for yourself to get the nausea patch behind your ear and good pain meds if you need them. My pain was almost unbearable day 1 and had nausea like crazy, dry heaving every hour it felt like. Meanwhile my wife had the nausea patch and morphine and was sleeping like nothing even happened. -

Does anyone remember how much water they could drink the first two days? I think part of my dry heaving may be from taking to big of a sip of water but I’m taking little enough ones they are barely getting my lips wet. -

She used the glue on the outside of the incisions. Also walked my self into a dry heaving fit but the only time I’m in less pain is when I’m walking -

I asked for Gasx but to no avail. My wife hasn’t had the gas pains to bad today I guess they just put all her gas into me!! I will ask for something stronger than Tylenol if it will help. They told me gas pains can’t really be surpressed by narcotics. Not sure how true that is! -

Got out of surgery at 10 am. Have been in terrible gas pain. I have walked and walked and they will only give me Tylenol for it. How long did your guys gas pain last? Maybe tomorrow morning it won’t be as bad?? -

If you meet the requirements along with a 6 month documented diet through your surgery center Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield approved mine the very first time it was submitted. they just don’t approve the vitamins for some reason!! 🙄 -

BCBS Vitamin Approval
Tristenhilpert97 replied to Tristenhilpert97's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
They aren't requiring that specific one that is just the one they run insurance through. I am currently looking at Bariatric choice for my multivitamin with iron. Then Citrical Maximum for my Calcium unless my insurance approves the other. Now to find a good b12! -

Started our PreOp 10 day diet today. It is going smoother than I imagined so far. I have been drinking my protein shakes sips at a time trying to get my body used to what it would be like after surgery and it has helped me feel full throughout the day. November 8th can't get here soon enough!! -

I totally understand that! I am still on my mothers insurance and they covered it but my wifes insurance didn't so we are haivng to pay out of pocket for hers. Best of Luck to you on your weight loss journey! -
We are doing the sleeve! Congrats on your success! I am only 24 and have struggled with obesity my entire life. If/when I get to 285 pounds I will be less than I was my freshman year of high school!

My heaviest weight was 408 pounds so I think I qualify for this thread. Current weight is 388 with surgery scheduled for November 8th. Very excited and anxious. My wife and I are getting it done at the same time
