Hi Molly Brown. I just want to tell you that you are one very lucky lady concerning your husband. My husband was horrible to me about my weight. Now that I've had the surgery and am losing weight, he is the food police. It really makes me mad. And he expects me not to mind when he brings home Dairy Queen for our sons and himself and they eat it in front of me! My sons will at least leave the room, but my husband has no mercy. He does have other redeeming qualities, he's not an ogre. But when it comes to my weight he definitely is not a nice person. So when hubby comes home tonight, give him an extra big hug. Pam

Okay, I went and ate waaay too much today. Now my stomache really hurts. Again. I know I have to get a grip, and soon. But I've had a real hard time finding an answer to this question. If I have stretched my pouch out, is it possible to "shrink" it or get it to go back to it's original size? If so, please, somebody tell me what to do and for how long. I haven't done that 5 day pouch test. I've heard mixed results about it. But I am really hurting and worried that I really went too far this time. So somebody let me know if you have any info on this. Thanks! Pam

Thank you to both of you for getting back to me. I was so afraid nobody would respond! I do keep a food journal. Unfortunately it was a long list. I guess I just need to remind myself often of how hard I worked to get this surgery. Now I have to work hard to break the old habits of eating nonstop when I get home from work. Exercising would be a great deterrent to pigging out. I am so exhausted when I get home though. I work as a full time substitute teacher at an Alternative school. I love my work and the kids, but it can be really frustrating! I do not want to blow it with this lapband (stretching it). This surgery was the best thing to happen to me in a long time. I was just worried that the damage I did was not reversable. I feel much better knowing that isn't the case. Thank you ladies!! Pam

I had the same problem. Just keep the area clean and be careful with your seatbelt. The area around my port was very red, but the doc didn't worry until it got hot to the touch. If you experience that, you need to call your dr as it may be infected. Otherwise, don't worry, it will be fine, maybe even always a little red. Nothing to stress about. Pam

I know what you are all talking about because I am there too. I am really mad at myself. I worked so hard to get this surgery and now I am blowing it! On the good side, I have lost 30 pounds. But just 3 days after my second fill I ate uncontrollably. I think it was because I was so upset that I wasn't full on a half cup of chicken breast and refried beans. So I ate a little more and then some more and then said, "I just won't eat dinner". But I did eat dinner. I ate until I physically hurt. So today I am back "on the wagon" but am afraid that I have probably stretched my pouch out too much. Because this is not the first time I have done this. I have heard of the 5 day pouch test, but haven't ever tried it. Does anybody else know about this? Does it work? And if anybody can tell me if I have stretched my pouch, can I shrink it back? And how would I do this? Thank you to anyone who can help as I am pretty disappointed in myself.

How much was your first fill? Did you need more?

I guess I am going to have to get another fill as soon as the doc permits. I don't know if he'll give me a big fill but I sure hope so and need one. How much weight do people usually lose after their first or second fill? I could really go for a big drop of pounds right about now. -

It is almost one week since I had my first fill, and I don't feel anything either. What a jip! I can eat anything,no restriction, and am ashamed to say that I have eaten way more than I should. Then I stress out about stretching my pouch. It is just so frustrating to work so hard to get the surgery and then recover from it and not feel much of anything. If I wait about an hour after I eat I do feel full on the small amount I've eaten. But it is really hard when I've waited 4 to 5 hours just to eat 2 or 3 ounces and then still be so darned hungry. And THAT is usually when I overeat. My dr won't consider another fill until at least 4 weeks because he said it takes weeks sometimes before you feel the full effects of the fill. This is so hard! -

Hi Harvest. I just had my first fill yesterday (7-31). Yesterday I felt as though I hadn't even had a fill. Today I didn't feel much difference except that I did get full again on about 3 ounces. Before this I had a huge hunger. The doc told me that it may take 2-3 days before I feel the full effects of the fill. So I am holding on hoping for this. I also read somewhere on this website that sometimes it takes a few weeks before we feel the full effects!!! Yikes ! I hope not! But anyway, that is what I know about fills. Pam -
Sades, Thanks for getting back to me so soon. I looked at that picture on page 4 and it looks pretty similar to what mine looks like. What actually happened to you? Did antibiotics help? You didn't need to have anything removed, did you? Do they know why we get these infections? Thanks for any info you can give. Pam

I was banded almost 4 weeks ago. The port has pretty much bothered me from the start. Now I see redness that goes from the port site and spreads out towards the small incision near the belly button. It is warm to the touch. Of course, this had to happen on a Saturday. The doctor on call prescribed antibiotics, and I will have to be seen by my dr on Monday. I am scared pretty badly. Does this sound like erosion? Just an infection? Please somebody let me know if they experienced this and what it was and what was done. Thanks! Pam
