I gained 1/2 pound this week. Too many macademia nuts covered in chocolate while in Hawaii. -
OK OK... I will get my butt in gear. The warm weather in Hawaii should make me feel ready to exercise. I am on my way now!

Friday Morning Weigh in - 5th December 2008

I'm down 1.5 pounds this week. I had absolutely no exercise. I have been super busy with work (annual audit), Christmas shopping and decorating, and getting ready for my trip to Hawaii tomorrow. I know I know... excuses are like buttholes... everyone's got one and they all stink. I am packing my running shoes so maybe I will get some good exercise on a beach. -
I keep thinking if I can hold off on buying new clothes and wear the baggy ones someone will nominate me for "What Not to Wear" and I'll get a $5000 shopping spree. Congrats on the running! I think I need a trainer to just come yell at me. I keep making excuses why I can't exercise. The annual audit at work is stressing me out.

I am now officially overweight and not obese.

That is GREAT!!!! You are an inspiration to the rest of us. -
Not to brag (OK maybe a little), but I am scheduled to travel for business Dec 6. I have travelled since my band but not anywhere this far. I am going to HAWAII!!! I will be in planes/airports for 14 hours. On the planes they sell sandwiches and chips. I have looked in food courts in airports and most of the places are not ideal. I really am surprised how much our culture revolves around bread. Anyway, I am wondering on food choices and what to pack. I don't think I can take Protein drinks with me in the carry-on. Also not sure how to get exercise in while I am gone. Any ideas?

Congrats Karen! Wow! 100!! My goal is to hit that mark by my birthday, March 3. I am really proud of you!

It's looking like jerky, cheese, fruit and protein have it. I need to get to Walmart this week to buy my stuff. Now how do I keep this stuff cool?

When I had my first son at 19, my Dr. told me to wear a bra at all times, even while sleeping, as long as I was nursing. He said this would help to keep my breasts from sagging to my belly button by the age of 22. I have worn an underwire bra ever since. I even wore an underwire coming home after surgery. So I am 30 now and have nursed 3 babies. My breasts still feel and look great, IMHO lol. I am a D cup (DD before surgery) so I am not HUGE but I am not tiny either. My question, do you think the same principle would work for the belly? During the day I have been wearing Control Top pantyhose in order to smooth out some bumps and rolls. I am wondering if maybe I would wear them constantly it would help with some sagging issues. Anybody heard of this?

I bought a pair of Spanx while at Lane Bryant the other day (couldn't resist the buy one get one free sale). I paid $35 for one pair and not so impressed. I got the $4 Shaper Just My Size pantyhose at Walmart (not sure when or why they changed it from Wal-Mart to Walmart but that's another tangent) and cut the legs out of them. I feel as though I get more support from them than the Spanx. Maybe it's my psyche tying to fool me since it's cheaper. But I know I probably won't buy another pair of Spanx.

That helps a lot. I haven't thought of special ordering things sans bread. I may take some protein bullets packed in the checked luggage. I am really getting excited!

Well the weather has hit the 30s now here so I think I am going to have to just suck it up and get on the treadmill. I just have a feeling that I need to set up a video camera because I will be able to win $10,000 on AFV.

So we are a third of the way through the challenge. I have dropped 3.5 pounds so far and my goal was 10 so I am right on track.

Friday Morning Weigh In - 28th November 2008

I got up early to go shopping yesterday and forgot to weigh. I am down 1/2 pound this week. I was looking at a gain this week early on and knew Thanksgiving would make it worse so I went on liquids Wednesday. This really helped to even things out for me. -
Congrats! I am still struggling getting my rear out there. I still manage to go to aerobics and hit the machines at the gym, it's just so hard to get outside to do the run/walk. I LOATHE treadmills!
-
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! Today I am thankful for 3 GREAT boys, wonderful family, a steady job in these rocky times, and that I got the lap band this year! I wonder if anyone will notice that I used SF jell-o for the cranberry salad and light miracle whip for the pea salad...

I have trouble with meats, bread, and tortillas. I can totally get why someone would turn vegetarian. When I fix my plate, I eat the meat first because I am "supposed to" and chew chew chew. It still gets stuck sometimes. By the time I get to the other food, it is usually cold. Some friends of mine think i'm fibbing when I say I can't eat bread but can eat toast or I can't eat tortillas but can eat a tortilla chip.

Post -op - How long until you feel like yourself again?
accountess replied to LSF's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too kept wondering what the heck I did to myself for a week. However, exactly a week out, I felt like my old self again. It has only gotten better since. It may be a little longer for you since you had the extra stuff going on, but I bet within just a few days you'll be feeling great! -

I am down 2.5 pounds this week. I hit 70 pounds lost during the week which is my halfway point. I am so happy! -
Thank you! Hope to see you there!

I am from Seneca (small town near Joplin). I was banded by Dr. De la Torre in Columbia on August 5. I have lost 70 pounds so far (both pre-op and post-op). I am quite pleased with my progress so far. I have found a lot of help here which is great because to be quite honest, the Bariatric Center focuses mainly on bypass patients. I was wondering if any of you all meet anytime through the year. It would be great to find others going through the same issues and maybe meet to trade clothes as we get smaller. I would also like to find an exercise buddy to keep me accountable throughout the week.

Do you think the Spanx are worth the price? I can get a pair of control top pantyhose for $5 and I have seen Spanx for over $30. Are they really that much better?
-
Is it just for those that have had the surgery there or for anybody who has had WLS? I would love to join in. I think it would be great.

I am in as well. I will say my goal is 10 pounds (although I really want to say 14.5 so it's at an even number but I am fighting my OCD urges). Kim....Current 244.5....Goal 234.5
