Way to go Georgia! I see you're back in it again. Renewed, glad that things are going well with the kids' transition. You seem like a great mom. Luluc you are my Hero! I'm finishing up week 3 today. I've done pretty good all week with the run. I usually get pretty anxious on Friday knowing that on Monday morning I have a bigger expectation of a longer jog time. But, this week I'm not gonna stress over it cause I CAN DO IT! (i think)

What a small world it is when us nurses meet online in a lap-band forum.

It feels like such a big feat to start the new week and a new goal. I started week 3 day 1 today. I'm not gonna lie, it was tough. I really wanted to quit on the second 3 minute run but I followed through huffing and puffing but I did finish. I'm hoping it will get a little easier by the end of the week. I certainly feel alot better when I'm finished. I also think it's partly because I'm anxious about whether or not I can do the next phase. We'll see...

I'm with you jbrad. I've started week 2 day 1 today and did fine. My speed isn't as fast though. I base my speed on my heart rate. I'm running at 4.3-4.5 depending on my HR. The swim thing sounds great but I went swimming last week on one of my off days and it's not as easy as I remember it when I was a kid. I actually look forward to the run. Keep up the good work for those getting close to their 5k. You can do it!!

I just finished week one! Whew...Couldn't have done it without the inspiration of this group. Congrats Renewed and Bonnie on reaching 20 min. Way to go. I can't wait till I get there. Wow Whosya, 180 in 12 months. Happy Bandiversary. I can't wait to start week 2. I almost want to try to run every day so that I can keep the pace but I know myself way too well to know that I will get burned out and stop. I'm going to try to follow the program for this and see where it takes me.

What download are you listening to? Someone mentioned that it chimed when it was time to change from running to walking. Is it a specific download for this program that someone created? Just curious cause it's sometimes hard to keep up with the time and remember when to walk/run.

Thanks for the welcome and the encouragement. I am so looking forward to day 2. I know you all say to rest between running days but what type of exercise are ya'll doing on the off days? I'm doing a step circuit class. That should be okay since I'm not running, right?

I just finished my first run! It was a little easier than I expected. I was able to do all of the 60 second intervals with out getting too tired or out of breath. I think I surprised myself because I didn't think I could do it. WhooHoo!!

I know you all have already started but I think I will try to start this week as well. How is everyone doing so far? It's been such a long time since I've done any type of running that I think I'm ready for the challenge. Wish me luck!!

Hi all, I stumbled on this thread and instantly became interested in the low-carb thing and trying to get in ketosis. Sounds like it's something I might be able to follow. I was banded in March. I've lost a total of 19 lbs and have restriction yet the weight isn't coming off. I do keep a food journal but I was not aware of how important the low carbs were to weight loss. Thanks for the info.

So it must have been the chocolate although the nurse seems to think it's carbs. I guess I got lazy. I have started keeping my food journal again to keep track of the calories, carbs, protein, and now fats. Whoever said that the lap band was the quick fix was soooo.... wrong. It's still alot of work. The journal helps to make sure not only that I'm eating the right amounts of food but by writing it down it will eventually come 2nd nature for me to chose the right amounts. It's just a constant struggle. Can't hurt to try.

So I have the exercise under control but I can't seem to ditch the chocolate. I think it's my downfall. I can't seem to stay away from it. I keep reminding myself that I went through surgery to make this life changing step toward losing weight and I can't stay away from chocolate. I'm losing weight still but extremely slowly. 1-2 pounds every 2 weeks. My band is doing it's job b/c I'm only able to eat very small portions. It's like a daily struggle to leave the chocolate alone. Will keep trying.

I've found a new way to make fish that is soooooo... good. It's a coating that is put on the fish by Zatarain's called "Bake & Crisp" and it tastes just like fried fish except it's baked. Delicious! (9 carbs)

I've had 3 fills. I am up to 3.5cc's. I feel that the band is working because I am definately restricted to small meals. I also exercise at least 4 times a week. The doc is okay with the weight loss. He seems to think that everyone is different and that it will eventually start coming off...we'll see....

Okay, so it's 4 months post op and I'm 19 lbs down. Starting to keep up with my caloric intake like I should have been doing all along but just got lazy. I surely don't want this to be all for nothing. I just thought surgery would make losing easier for me but it's still alot of work. Very frustrating but I'm willing to keep up with the progress because I've spent alot of money and have some limitations that I can't ignore.

I haven't been keeping up with my journal regularly. I guess I need to start paying closer attention. It's just hard to calculate how many calories/carbs in a few bites of something. tootie_belle

Hello from Louisiana. This is my first post. I had lap-band surgery 3/5/08 and have lost only 19lbs. It's been pretty frustrating because the weight hasn't been coming off as quickly as I had anticipated. I've had 3 fills. I am at 3.5cc's and I am exercising at least 4 days a week. Not sure what the problem is. I feel like the band is working because I am only eating a very small amount of food and I feel satisified when I eat. To be honest I don't know if I'm eating enough. Any thoughts???
