Hi everybody, I know this forum was started way back but still. Im getting my band 24th April and Im gonna have the Sweedish one. They just dont do the lap band here. I asked about erosions after I read a lot about it here. My doc told me, and now dont be angry with me because I dont have the experience with the band, that the erosions are caused by overeating and stretching the pouch.I asked another doctor and was told the same. So right now I dont know what to think.

Congratulations!!:clap2: I just got my date yesterday and I will be "under the knife" 24th April.cant wait for it I told my colleagues that Im having my gallbladder taken out. I dont think anybody here (Czech republic) ever heard of the hital hernia and I would have to explain a lot. On the other hand Im nut sure how I will explain the big weight loss (I hope I will have a big weight loss) :cheer2: Good luck to you!

Hi, maybe in Europe the practise is different but my doc told me that we must set a date when I wont have my period.He said it might be more complicated if I had a period. My guess is that it has to do something with the different blood structure or the blood density. I would definitely give them a call. Good luck to you!

Hey Amourette, I wasnt sedated at all, they just sprayed some Xylocain into my throat and that was it. But I guess this may warry. He was moving with that freaking thing in my stomach for about 10 hours, or at least it felt like it. I think he was in my stomach not for more than 5-8 minutes, maybe because he saw that my stomach is healthy. In the waiting room there was a scared lady who wanted to leave when I was coming out from the doctros office she asked me about it and I told that it was the worst thing that I ever experienced. When she came out from the doctors office that she is happy that I scared her because she thinks that it wasnt that bad. Everybody has different experience. Let me know how it goes with your EDG!

Hi Badboybob, they used to that here in Europe, but now they dont do it anymore, because the band wasnt adjustable therfore many people had erosions.I guess thats why they dont do it anymore.Good luck to u. Eva

Hi Nanahanna, so I had the EGD today. Did you say tiny little light and a tube, hell no the tube was like the tube to shower and it was so uncomfortable, but I survived it and I have a date! 24th or 25th April,yeah :cheer2: I hope I didnt scare you too much,it doesnt hurt afterwards or anything,it just surprised me that it was so uncomfortable because everybody was saying that its ok.Good luck to you and keep us posted :eek:

Hi Amourette, sorry to hear about your insurance. I went to the gastrosomething today,they stik a long cabel into your stomach.everything is ok with my stomach,but it was the worst experience. It didnt hurt but it was so uncomfortable! The good thing is that I got a date! My op is scheaduled 24th or 25th April! Hurray. Godd luck to you,maybe there will be some other way how to finance your op!

Hi everybody,:update: tomorrow is starting the big mess with the pre op exams. I have to undergo gastroscopy (yuck-they will stick some tube to my stomach) then sonography, dietecian and another appointment with my doctor. Has anybody had the gastroscopy? I am afraid of it, I can imagine how I take the tube out or something :eek: They wont knock me out completly, just some kind of local anesthesia. And I hope that tomorrow I get my surgery DATE:) Im basically on preop diet already for a month, but its not only liquids, its normal food (no junk food ofcourse), just smaller portions. They want me to lose as much weight as possible. I already lost 10pounds. I cant wait to get the band and start losing a lot of weight. Good luck to all of you and keep us updated

Hello everybody: HeatherGurl:Ahoj Heather :-) yep its really common, I remember when I was in the US and I met people who had someone Czech in their family. It was so nice, because I was far from my family, but actually close to others due the fact that we have something in common.oh I spoke today to my obesitologist about the surgery.I was asking if they sew the bottom part of stomach to the upper part to prevent slippage and she told me that the main surgeon Dr.Fried (Czech) was the one who invented this style and he tought it in America.Isnt that cool? I thought that there might be problem with food:-) I guess that Im gonna be on some mushy stuff when I fly to Greece, but its not that long flight(2-3hrs). I was just afraid from taking off and landing, I wasnt sure if the band could slip or something else:-) Great to hear that there are no complications with that. Congratulations on losing 20pounds! Thats amazing you have been banden only for not even am onth and you already lost that much! Great job! :clap2:

Hi Mockingbrd, I was told the same that I have to lose some weight before the surgery, and they had two reasons 1,livers 2, they want to see that I will be able to change my habbits and "behave". How much time do you have? Well so far I lost 10 pounds, I am eating a lot of veggies, cantelope (low in calories and Im not that hungry),chicken total max. 1700 calories and I excercise at least 3 times per week for hour. The heart rate should be around 145-150 if you are healthy and dont have high blood pressure.I usually only walk ond treadmill. I must admit that Im quite hungry all the time, I was used to eat over 3000calories per day so you see the difference. Truly said I know/feel that Im not gonna be able to be hungry all the time, so I hope for the Lapband otherwise I am afraid that Im gonna bee fat my whole life Good luck to you all! Keep us updated. well here in Czech republic we dont even have shops for fat people, the only one is Marina Rinaldi and this king of fashion is just so bad lloking and a stupid skirt costs about 400 dollars!! I cant wait to be norrmal and be able to buy stuff without having to go abroad. Of course I can order from Torrid or some other stores but the problem is that our customs will charg me almost the whole price of the items, so I am paying twice. Great situation isnt it? Oh and the butt-pictures are really funny:-)

Hi PinkMary, wow thats great 37kgs thats awesome,congratulations!! 27-32 degrees is just perfect, we were in Vrasna before but at the end of August and it was OK as well:-) I know Athens are like 12 hours by bud from Vrasna:-) Hey if you like Czech Republic and you ever come here just let me know, I live in Prague. Hi Victoriana, actually I come from Ostrava and its not that far from Karvina:-) I think Stare Mesto Frestat is a part of Karvina:-) Yep tell me about celebrating everything with food:-) Thats true and I guess it just so typical for Czechs:-) we just love to eat.Your grandma has pretty czech name, your grandfather had someone polish in his relatives because his surname sounds a bit polish.but it might be in a long past, also Karvina is close to poland so some people talk with mixture of czech, polish,slovak and german (german because this part of Czech was occupied by Germans in world war II.). Before visiting this forum I was still puzzled about the lap band,but now I just feel so positive about it and I cant wait to get my band.-) its mainly because of the nice people here. Hi pink Mary :-) actually I cant wait to get my lap band. Do you have Lap Band or the band from Johnson and Johnson? Where from Greece are you? I am going to Vrasna, Chalkidiki, its near Thessaloniki but you probably know that:-) I just love Greece, the sea the nature and of course the food:-) I am going at the end of May to June 10th do you think its gonna be hot enough there? Hi Heather, thats so cool. I know that there is huge comunity of Czechs in Texas u even have a city called Prague and there r some Czech schools. Yep u r right there r many obese people, mainly in the older generation.on the other hand there r lots of skinny (some of them anorectic girls).I would say that its getting better.I would say that we have a lot of chubby people but not many very very obese. Do you speak any Czech? Yep Czech svickova and knedliky is the best, dont even talk about the fruit dumplings:-) Anyway if u ever come to Czech give me a notice and I would be glad to take you to some sights in Prague:-) Hey we r the same age:-)))

Cashley: I guess that the requirement are the same everywhere or at least should be, because these llimits were set by the world obesitology commitee or how r they named:-)

Ahoj Bell:-) yep Prague is beautiful. great to hear that plane doesnt move the band. Well I will be hopefuly month after surgery:-) The only thing I am afraid of is that I have high CRP and erythrocyte sedimentation rate. It might keep me from getting the surgery, cause they want u to have healthy blood.The problem is theta I have high eryth.sedimentation rate and CRP for over two years. i even went to imunology and they didnt find anything. Im healthy thats what the doctor said.I want my LapBand asap:-)

Girls thank you so much for support. Here in Czech its different, people are hiding things like Lap bands, they dont talk about it. Having e.g. plastic surgery it is very abnormal and others look at u like u r a psycho. It is getting better but still people r ashamed talking about stuff like this. Many people r even ashamed to go to psychologist or psychiatrist, just because they r scared what would others think. Isnt that terrible? Thats probably why we have only ONE forum about Lap Band and there arent many posts. Yep almost everybody here in Czech is dealing with some kind of overweight, our traditional cuisine is very fat and almost only meet and dumplings. But more and more young people r eating healthier. Since I was little we were eating pretty healthy but I have a sweet tooth and I can eat any amount of gummi bears or chocolate :-) But now my habbits r better since I need to prove that I can lose some wight by maself in order to get the surgery done :-) I cant wait to lose some weight and go see my classmates, hi hi hi. Im imagining how they wont recognize me:-) Although I know that obesity is a great health risk, for me now its more a looks problem. I dont have any health problems, my joints r ok, everything is just fine Im just depressed from my look.
