How can I effectively build muscle without "eating big"
pintsizedmallrat replied to ItsAMe98's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You didn't mention your biological sex but that is important here; some womens' bodies are not capable of "bulking up" the way a man's would because we have less testosterone which also encourages muscle growth, and it's also possible that you are gaining muscle but it doesn't look the way you expect it to. I'm sure the activity you're doing is good for you one way or another. -
Anyone taking ozempic after having surgery?
pintsizedmallrat replied to Vicky Sue's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Unless you're really struggling to lose, which with your numbers you don't seem to be, I don't see why that's necessary unless you need it to control your sugar. -
Meal delivery service?
pintsizedmallrat replied to Jillian K8's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Indeed it sounds like you are exactly the sort of person these services were designed for! -
Start trying to clear it out now. You should be OK but just make sure you're drinking lots of fluids to flush it out

Chewable flavors & Calcium Citrate
pintsizedmallrat replied to greekgoddess2468's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good, good. I didn't realize that those multivitamins were less "complete" than I thought for a few months after I started taking them, so I just wanted to keep someone else from doing the same thing. -
You are right. I was wrong. We all need to walk our own journey and I humbly, sincerely apologize. I know you are considered a leader and knowledge base for everyone here and I am deeply embarrassed I crossed such a treasured member of this community and hope the rest of you don't choose to make me a pariah because of this. Zero excuses. I was rude to someone important. I apologize once again and hope this is the end of the acrimony.

Bariatric Friendly Starbucks Coffees
pintsizedmallrat replied to Erin18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love how cute the little cup is! It's the same size cup they use for a double espresso and it's just barely taller than my hand. -
Bariatric Friendly Starbucks Coffees
pintsizedmallrat replied to Erin18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Venti hot or iced Americano, black, with Splenda. Zero calories. Zero carbs. I also want to point out that Starbucks will make most or all of their drinks as a "short" which is 8 oz as opposed to the 12 oz tall size. It's cheaper, and if you prefer something with milk in it, you might want a smaller portion of it, -
You're absolutely allowed an opinion. If you don't feel that you can avoid eating chips when they're in front of you, it's very wise to avoid having them there. My point only is that most American restaurants' dishes, even ones intended for children, often are accompanied by a carb-forward "side item" like chips, rice, potatoes, etc. This is often in the misguided intention of adding "value" with the appearance of a larger meal for a cheaper price. However, it's always your choice whether to consume it. I think it felt to me at the time you were unfairly criticizing her plate, and I understand now that was not your intention. Things are tough out there and if someone orders a "combo" or kids meal because it ends up being cheaper for them. Some of us paid for our surgeries with insurance and are not wealthy. I presume we're good here.

Feeling pretty low
pintsizedmallrat replied to SamDS100's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It's between the 6 and 12 week mark most people have regrets...I know I did. I felt like I was wasting away, not losing weight in a healthy way. It will get better, to a point where one day soon you'll realize you feel "normal" again, and you'll get a burst of energy from carrying around so much less. -
Red Robin has a kids meal with grilled chicken "dippers" and a side of veggies. I also like the "vegetable plate" kids meal from Cracker Barrel. It's just 3 sides of your choosing which can be side salads, etc.
-
Just because it comes with it doesn't mean you have to eat it. Sometimes it isnt practical to eat out in a restaurant and take leftovers home; if this is a way for OP to get the portion of the meal they want in the most cost-effective way, then that's what they should do.

Worried I won't lose enough
pintsizedmallrat replied to Nyxienoodles's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have lost nearly 60% of my body weight since 8/2021 with a sleeve, a total loss of 132 pounds on a 4'10" frame, and I could lose more if I had it to lose. It can be done. To be completely honest, my biggest problem at this point is keeping what I've got left ON. Additionally, I would focus on reaching a weight where you are happy and your health metrics have improved. That may be more or less than your doctor said. For whatever it's worth, my doctor said I should expect to land between 135 and 145 and here I am in "none-derland" at 99. -
Hair Shedding & Hair Loss
pintsizedmallrat replied to greekgoddess2468's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take collagen and a hair-skin-nails supplement every morning. While I don't think it slowed down the hair loss, my hair was quite thin before that and it's grown back thick and curly, much healthier than it was before I lost weight. -
Chewable flavors & Calcium Citrate
pintsizedmallrat replied to greekgoddess2468's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Those are both excellent, and I use them too, but the multis don't contain much if any iron, calcium, or magnesium so you still probably will need to supplement those minerals specifically. It's important to read labels for any supplements you take. I use the calcium chews from the same brand, and BariMelts Iron + Vitamin C. -
Chewable flavors & Calcium Citrate
pintsizedmallrat replied to greekgoddess2468's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use the Bariatric Advantage Calcium "chewy bites" and havent had any issues with them making me nauseous even when I was very soon PO. I like the lemon ones best. -
I have a concern about a post, and I don't want to call attention to it in the forum because I don't want to appear to be placing a user on "blast"...is there someone we can contact with issues like this?

Bubbles.
pintsizedmallrat replied to Happy with two's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
19 months post op and I still have to let everything go flat before I can drink it. I will have one of those mini Coke Zeros like once a month that's gone flat but thats about it. I only do non-sparkling mixers and wine when it comes to alcohol, too. -
Calories at 4 mo Post-Op?
pintsizedmallrat replied to maintenanceman's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I was consuming 600-800 calories at that point but I am a very short person and my maintenance calories are only 1350. It's important to pay attention to the height and gender of the people giving this information out; the "correct" number is going to be very, very individual. -
Meal delivery service?
pintsizedmallrat replied to Jillian K8's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Unless you absolutely don't have time for anything else you're probably going to be better off setting aside a few hours on the weekend and prepping these things yourself. Meal service portion sizes are intended for people with an anatomically-typical stomach and will be likely much larger than you're going to be able to or want to eat. -
Soft foods start tomorrow, st patty’s dinner lol
pintsizedmallrat replied to Michelle90's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Not to mention some people aren't ever really able to tolerate a lot of "soft carbs" that swell in the stomach...I'm almost 19 months PO and still have trouble with rice, pasta, and potatoes. -
Get back on the horse, do better tomorrow, and don't let it become a habit. This is a life-long process and you will learn how to indulge moderately and intelligently, but you're going to make mistakes here and there.

Don't buy too many, because I've had to have 3-4 rounds of donating things because every time I think I'm done I end up losing more.

Thinking I might losing weight to fast
pintsizedmallrat replied to Catina B's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost about 30 pounds in the first month. Sometimes your body is just ready to give that weight up. As long as you don't feel weird or uncomfortable you're probably fine. -
Individual powdered shake recommendations?
pintsizedmallrat replied to Sigh's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not sure what the TSA's opinion is on this, but when I travel by car I use little plastic cups with lids to pre-portion my protein powders. I think the ones I use are sold as "jello shot cups" but they're basically the same sort of thing you'd get a little serving of dressing or ketchup with a takeout order. That way, you don't have to spend a bunch of money on pre-packaged containers and can use your usual product.
