I swear it's never enough for some of these doctors. Not everyone is capable of reaching the arbitrary number they consider to be "normal", and if you're healthy and happy it shouldn't matter anyway.

I never claimed anyone DOES drink that much, only that the four or so that you said was too much is perfectly safe. I apologize I didn't realize that you and the person upthread who said it was harmful are not the same person; maybe they'll see this too. Drink the amount you're comfortable with and so will I.

do you ever just feel huge? lol
pintsizedmallrat replied to liveaboard15's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, and I am objectively from a numbers standpoint no longer "fat" with a BMI of 22 (although it obviously could be a lot lower there is no medical/health reason for me to lose more). I constantly struggle, scrutinize, and measure. Try on pants in all different sizes out of my own closet to try to verify nothing has changed. I'm in therapy for it but without intervention I have been dangerously close to crossing into disordered behavior. -
Apparently an adult with healthy kidneys can consume 20-28 liters of water before they enter the danger zone, anywhere from 5-6 times the number you claim is "dangerous". https://www.foodnetwork.com/healthy/articles/is-there-such-thing-as-drinking-too-much-water

Hair loss and hair dye and hair cuts.
pintsizedmallrat replied to mousecat88's topic in The Gals' Room
The hair loss is temporary and it will grow back. I have very dark hair and very fair skin, and you could absolutely see patches of my scalp. I ended up having to cut my lower-back-length hair into a very short pixie cut around month 4...It's almost down to my shoulders again. It may just be my hair texture but any kind of dye causes me to have a lot of breakage; maybe it would be best to wait until your hair has regrown and is healthy before adding more chemicals into the mix that could hinder your progress? -
Most surgical centers recommend a gallon of water a day; it's not nearly enough to cause someone "harm".

What you wished you would have packed for your hospital stay....
pintsizedmallrat replied to PNWgrandma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My procedure was outpatient but out of town from where I live and my only regret was packing too much. All you're going to want to do is sleep. Bring comfortable loose clothes and maybe a book or an iPad to keep yourself occupied (hospital TV sucks), but I wouldn't worry too much about packing a bunch of things because you probably won't use them. -
Don't stock up too much--your tastebuds can change and a lot of people grow to hate their first post-surgery picks because they associate it with feeling lousy.

Acid Reflux
pintsizedmallrat replied to Timberlynn Sleeved to DS's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
i am 16 months post-op and still have to take both Pepcid and Prilosec every day or the reflux comes back. I had ZERO history of reflux before my procedure. -
I had the surgery at 39...after having let someone talk me out of it 10 years earlier, and all I can think about is how I spent an extra decade feeling lousy AND feeling lousy about myself. I look back and feel like that time was just LOST. Do what you need to do to make your life what you want. It's yours and yours alone to live. Peoples' opinions are just that...opinions.

WHAT does religion have to do with me having surgery??????
pintsizedmallrat replied to SleeveToBypass2023's topic in Rants & Raves
This person needs to take a real, long, hard look at that "Judge not" portion of the Bible -
Smoking cannabis
pintsizedmallrat replied to terri24's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I used tincture for the first couple months following my surgery but went back to vaping it after that...no real issues, it does seem like sometimes it makes me a bit hungry but I try to plan ahead for that (I have a rule: never eat out of a package you're not ok with finishing...I will be seeing smells and tasting sounds but I will always weigh my serving of popcorn). -
Does anyone still bake holiday treats post-op?
pintsizedmallrat replied to raspberrylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 16 months post op and I have baked a few things here and there...I have reactive hypoglycemia (aka "late dumping") so I know better than to have more than a bite or two or I'll end up face planting on the kitchen floor again. It's an excellent deterrent from overindulgence, as much as it sucks. -
I've had better luck with probiotics vs any kind of fiber supplement; that stuff tends to swell up and makes me uncomfortably full for hours.

So popcorn is NOT my friend....
pintsizedmallrat replied to SleeveToBypass2023's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like popcorn because the serving size seems enormous and it takes me forever to eat it because I eat it one piece at a time. Raw apples seem to be my kryptonite; every time I eat one I end up feeling crappy afterward, even a little tiny piece in a salad. -
I have a bad habit of waiting until I'm famished to eat anything which definitely causes me to eat faster...so I've been trying to avoid doing that. About the only consistent way I've found of slowing down my eating is to count how many times I chew things which gets tedious especially if you're eating with someone.

Pre-op Diet causing extremely chapped lips
pintsizedmallrat replied to Kimpossible00's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's probably the lack of fats in your diet...which will continue after surgery for a while. Invest in some good, moisturizing lip balm (I'm partial to Aquaphor because it comes in a big tube and isn't scented/flavored, so I'm less likely to lick it off). -
How do you curb cravings?
pintsizedmallrat replied to maintenanceman's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Drink something, wait 20-30 minutes, see if you still want the food you're craving. It's common to confuse thirst with hunger. I keep a bar of Lily's extra dark chocolate in my refrigerator and when I get a sweets craving I eat a square of it. Cold chocolate takes longer to eat. -
Fat Acceptance Movement - how do you feel?
pintsizedmallrat replied to needtorecover's topic in Rants & Raves
I LOVE Maintenance Phase. They give fantastic information and Michael and Aubrey are hilarious. -
I never put more food in front of me than I am comfortable finishing. I will even move food off of a plate onto my bread or salad plate in a restaurant and immediately ask for a box when it arrives. I tend to eat faster than I probably should, so this is my "fail-safe." I'm one of the unlucky sleevers who dumps so overeating won't just compromise my success, it could make me faint or pass out.

When to tell your new partner you had surgery and imposter syndrome?
pintsizedmallrat replied to fourmonthspreop's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I don't think I would want to pursue a relationship with someone I didn't feel I could be completely honest with. There are a lot of things that can happen in your life, and it seems like if you're concerned this fellow is going to judge you for this, what else is there in your future you may feel it necessary to hide from his judgement? Be honest and if he doesn't like it, find someone who does. He is not the only man alive. My advice? Tell him before you have to tell any more lies to cover yourself. -
I don't think I've seen anyone say their plan forbids Stevia, it's pretty benign. Obviously some people don't like it or it doesn't agree with them but it's a non-sugar sweetener and is mostly natural.

How did you choose your goal weight?
pintsizedmallrat replied to kbsleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon's office said that most people who reach their goal weight are carrying around 5-10 pounds of excess skin. -
Extremely common; I didn't get a period for almost 3 months early in my recovery process and it's still a tad "irregular".

How long to reach goal weight?
pintsizedmallrat replied to lorlybeth84's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It took me 14 months.
