Another question I didnt know to ask my Dr
jazie replied to targa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am curious about that also. My dr doesn't like to tell but he will if you insist. -
I was just wondering, if you had slippage, do you not need to have it repositioned? I just assumed that a second surgery would be needed. jazie

I am 63 and I only wish I had done it sooner. It could not have gone any better.I had almost NO pain. I am 6 weeks out of surgery and I have lost 32 lbs. I feel so much better. I have gone from 3 shots a day for diabetes and one pill to 1 shot aday and 1/2 of a pill. Waiting for the day when I can throw all that away. I know it will come. Please don't be afraid of this. Maybe you could go to the support meetings with her. You learn so much there and also from this site. I will be going for my 2nd fill on Monday. The first one was not even as bad as an insulin shot and those are painless. I can only speak for myself, but just ask if there is a question and if I can answer it , I will. Jazie

Who Do You Tell, or Who Don't You Tell????
jazie replied to Bella1962's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told everyone and I am glad. I go to water aerobics with about 30 other people and they can be a huge help. They are so supportive. When I get in a rut they will pick me up. I have never regretted it. -
Maybe if you tell him how much you weigh before you go to Dr. it will soften the blow. I find that worked for me. Good luck!

Great Job!! Can't wait to join you.

We have Target, Albertsons and GNC here. I definitely want to try them. Thanks for the info. I am having trouble with Ticker Factory. When I think I have it, it doesn't show up.

To me, it is not a big deal. As long as He knows, that is what is important. My knowing how big my band is, would serve no purpose, I am just not curious about it. He did tell me how much the fill was. Sometimes I think I am just too trusting, but that is my nature. I always know things will work out.
-
I think you are right. I have full confidence in my Dr. so I will leave all of that to him.
-
My Dr. told me how much he put in but would not tell me how much my band would hold. He just said it will never be completely full.

Well, today was my intro to PB. I am just wondering if eating too fast, or too much causes this. I really don't think it was too much because I hadn't eaten much at all. I ate a small piece of baked chicken, and it was moist, and a small piece of meat loaf. I was eating out and alone and I think I just rushed it. Not a good feeling at all. I surely want to know what caused it, so I don't do it again. I appreciate your answers.

Thanks you guys. I am pretty sure I did not wait long enough between bites. I will make sure I never do that again. Unless I forget and do not have my mind on eating, which is what happened then.

Taking medication with a lap band
jazie replied to Becksie2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take 12 pills a day and have not had a problem. I did the the Calcium Citrate in the new smaller pill, but never have had to cut them. I have only had 1 fill, but I can tell it is there. I really think you will be ok for now. Maybe at a later date we might have to reduce the size but not now. Hopefully, some of these will be eliminated in time. I have also been able to cut my diabetes meds in half. Good Luck -
Are you counting your protein? My dr told me that most of the time this happens with the bypass.
-
My dr put me on liquids for the day of the fill (today). Tomorrow I can eat regular food
-
I forgot that I also came home with a motion sickness patch behind my ear. I think it really worked too, because the anesthetic usually makes me really nauseous.
-
My dr gave me Percoset, but in pill form not liquid. Good luck with your surgery. I only took one pill after I got home. Only pain was gas.

HELP! AM I HUNGRY or do I have cold feet?
jazie replied to lenore25's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have all the confidence in the world in my dr. But I do feel like he would rather have done the bypass. I am 63, my husband was against it mainly because on my very first visit, 3 years ago, he told me that my risk was greater because of my age. That cinched it for me. I got banded on 7/1/08. My husband was supporting me and I have felt great. I think the nurse was very rude to you. Hang in there, we are all behind you. -
Older Candidate With Concerns
jazie replied to OctoberGal's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am a baby boomer. I have only had my band since 7/1/08 but I would do it again in a heartbeat. I am 63, absolutely no problems with the surgery, and I am going to get my first fill Monday, 7/28. I had catarac surgery on 7/16, no problems with that either. Going to get other eye done on 7/30. My band dr was all for it. -
i gave in and weighed myself LOL..
jazie replied to armywife4life's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am all for this. Sunday will be the big day to weigh. I gave in and weighed today and I was disappointed, no loss in the last 2 weeks.Had my band 7/01/08. Reading and posting on here sure helps though. My first fill will be 7/28/08. My husband said I worry more about food than I used to, but I have to plan ahead now, and it is all so new. I have not let myself eat anything not healthy. Gave up all cold drinks. Now it is only water or tea. I don't miss it. Lets keep the Sunday date. Join us if you will. -
Should I be losing more???
jazie replied to detroitdame75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think that is great! I am not doing that good. My banding was on 7/1/08. will be 4 weeks on Tuesday. I have lost 17 lbs. and that includes 5 pre op. I have been on 800 to 900 calories a day, and still stuck on 217. I was told not to expect to loose but about 1-2 lbs a week. But the first 15 came off quick, now nothing. I am trying to stay positive, but it is hard. I have been walking a mile about 3 or 4 times a week, I am going to pick it up to at least 5 or 6 times. Hang in there and I will be right with you. -
I posted this on another thread but it may have been the wrong one. Can someone tell me what happens when the band is filled to its limit? My last visit to my GP kind of confused me because he told me he heard that the band sometimes has to be replaced. Any ideas on this one? Thanks for all the info.

Help 3.5cc fill today now constant PB
jazie replied to elaine3758's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Can anyone tell me what happens after a 10cc band is full? I didn't think to ask my Dr. that and now I am curious. -
I had my band on 7/1/08 and I can honestly say that after the first day I had almost NO pain. The only thing was gas but I walked and that went away. I see on here that a lot of the people have pain for a lot longer. I was on Byetta injections for diabetes, maybe that is why I felt so good so soon. The dr took me off it and I was in heaven. I am no longer on that and have cut my Januvia, also for diabetes, is cut in half. I fell so good, it is unbelieveable so soon! Good luck and don't be afraid. I am sure everyone second guesses their selves just before surgery. It is the best thing I have ever done. Lost 20lbs so far.

I had a cramp in my calf this morning but I never associated it with the surgery. It's an idea though. I don't usually have these.
