Can some of you give me an idea for breakfast? Since I was banded in July 08 I have eaten eggbeaters and fruit for breakfast. Since my last fill (5th) I can not tolerate the eggbeaters. I just don't know what to replace it with that is low carb. I just got off the insulin completely and don't want to mess that up. Thanks jazie

Available Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Anyone lose restriction like this?
jazie posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am not sure I am in the right place, but I need help. I am 1 1/2 years out of surgery. I have had 10 fills, my dr is not aggressive at this point. I just realized, that if I eat something that gets stuck, and I have to upchuck, I lose a lot of restriction. I thought I was at a perfect spot, then ate something that stuck. I started pbing and I guess got irritated. when I finally got back to "normal", I had lost a lot of the restriction I had before this episode. Has anyone done this before? I am going to make an appointment with my dr and ask his opinion, but I wanted something to bring with me so we could discuss it in the office. I also attend support meetings every month and thought it would be a good subject for discussion, if I could get more info. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks jazie -
Did anyone find the naked nuggets in the south? I am from Louisiana and Sam's is the only local warehouse that we have. No Costco in the area.

One Year Bandiversary---Wouldn't change a thing!
jazie replied to kgloverii's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I have tried it all. My dr suggests Miralax. It has no taste at all, but I wanted to throw up everytime I used it. Exlax pills seem to be the best yet. Just afraid to use this too often. -
One Year Bandiversary---Wouldn't change a thing!
jazie replied to kgloverii's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
July 1st 2009 was my one year anniversary. I only regret that I didn't have it sooner. It hasn't all been roses. I had to have a revision of my port because it tore loose. That second surgery went great. My ONLY problem is going to the bathroom. Seems after a year my body would have adjusted and I would no longer have this problem. If I don't take a stimulant, I don't go. I have tried every thing I read on here but nothing has worked. I love my band though and would do it again in a heartbeat. -
My dr told me that if the insurance approved it in the first place, they should cover anything pertaiing to it. I had to have a revision and they paid for it.

What are some foods you aren't able to eat now?
jazie replied to NYC_gal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have pretty good restriction now, just recently, I realized that I can not eat smothered okra and tomatoes. I ate this 3 or 4 times before I knew this was what was causing the PBing. I guess too much fiber, but I can eat brocholli raw. Don't try to figure it out, everyone is different. -
Should I wait to see if I need an unfill?
jazie posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope someone of you can give me your opinion. Last Thursday, I had a fill of .3 in my 10 cc band, for a total of 7.3. I was fine until Monday. I had a salad and a few tablespoons of spaghetti sauce. This has made me PB before but I thought it was a one time thing. I started PBing that afternoon and I am still having a problem keeping things down. Everytime I have PB'd before I could feel the inflamation in my esophogus. That is just what I feel now. Do you think I need an unfill? I keep thinking it is due to the inflamation, but it has been 48 hours now. I started taking Nexium last night. That is what I was told to do last time this happened. Has this happened to anyone else? I would appreciate any help on this matter. Thanks Jazie -

I forgot to say on here that I will be a year out on July 1st. Seems like I could figure this out on my own, but I just can't decide what to do. Jazie -
I don't think I would do it until I was completely sure and ready for it. Which ever one you choose, you have to be commited to the surgery. Don't let the anxiety change your mind once you make it up. It is the best thing I have ever done. I just wish I had not waited until 64 and a great grandmother to do it. Good luck with which ever choice you make. I don't think you will regret it. jazie

It would be about a 2 1/2 hour drive but Dr. Keith Chung in Lake Charles may see you. I know he has welcomed anyone to his support groups, and also the seminars. He did my sugery and I love him. So glad I chose him. I live 45 minutes south of Lake Charles but it is well worth the drive. jazie

Banded 5/5/09-bandster hell
jazie replied to witchy_Jenny's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Don't be too hard on yourself. If you weighed on a different scale, it could be a big difference from your doctors scale. My dr moved offices and his new scales is 5 lbs heavier. The exact same kind that the hospital has for our support meetings weighs right. We always tell him to take the hospitals to his office. jazie -
Try talking a friend into going with you. My friend and I have been doing water aerobics for 10 years. Way before I considered the band. We help each other when, sometimes we feel like not going. jazie

My dr said the same thing. If I get a low profile, they are harder to locate to fill. I can feel my port easily though. It is on my left side a little higher than my naval. My port flipped and I had it repositioned. Then last time I went in for a fill, he told me that it is turned side ways. Not happy about that but he was still able to fill. Hope it stays put now. jazie

Thanks for the info. I didn't know a lot of these. jazie

It did affect me. I live at sea level, went to Red River N.M. in February with perfect restriction. I could have eaten just about anything, but watched it very close. Elevation is 10,300 ft there. I was really concerned that I had lost all restriction, but as soon as I returned home, it was back. Next time I will know what to expect and won't stress so much. jazie

The meetings are the second Thursday of every month. They are at Womens and Childrens Hospital at 6 pm. I know it will be an inconvience but we have to drive 45 mins. to get there, so we usually go early and shop. That is in Lake Charles. My email is joelynbb@aol.com -

Great job! I am now 10 months out and I have lost 66 lbs. Please try to make the support meetings, they are such a big help. My DIL and myself have both had surgery with Dr. Chung and think he is great. She had Gastric bypass and she is doing great also. We both feel that the meeting once a month is our day out and it really takes a lot for us to miss it. In fact, only have missed 1 in the last 11 months. Please feel free to email me anytime, or post on here. Good luck, jazie -
*New* Weight Watchers + Lap Band Group
jazie replied to CapitolChick's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Is this a physical group or a virtual group? And what does social mean? I have a WW group about 20 miles from here but have not heard of the social group. I may be interested. jazie -
I think maybe if you keep a diary of your food, you might realize that there is too many calories being consumed. I am asked to do this every 6 months and it is very eye opening. They can sneak up on you even though it looks like no change. Hang in there things will turn around soon. Just know we are all supporting you. jazie

I would take it as a compliment also. Just hang in there. It is all worth it. jazie

Can anyone help me with this?
jazie replied to jazie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thank you all for the help. It can't be my gall bladder, it is already out, but it does feel more like gas. I don't really think that is it either, I am not trapped, but I have been constipated ever since my surgery,July 2008, I have had a problem with that. I have used glycerin suppositories for the last 2 days, and it helps. I will call my Dr tomorrow and try to see him in the next day or two. I will keep you posted. jazie -
I am almost 9 months out and I am looking for someone to tell me the symptoms of a slipped band. I have a bad pain below my right shoulder blade. It is pretty bad at times. It has gotten worse in the last 3 days. I would appreciate any help with this. Just hoping its not the band. jazie

I know that I was not hydrated because I had a horrific headache and was told that I needed to drink, drink, drink. The headache was gone the next day, so maybe that is the reason for the loose band. Thanks, for the tip, I will definitely remember that. jazie

Thanks, I have felt so well for the last 2 days, I am thinking my esophagus may have been inflamed from the pbing on my vacation. I had soup for a couple of days and maybe that is what helped. I am going to give it a couple of more days and if I still feel good, I will put the unfill off. jazie
