    Whats wrong with me?

Don't be discouraged! At first, I only lost a few pounds after my gastric surgery - literally about 5 during the first two weeks. Then I stalled for a week. THEN the pounds started really coming off. I listened to a friend of mine who told me not to worry what the scale said - to look more at how my clothes were fitting. She even went as far to say that the scale would discourage me and then I may revert back to my old habits which would mean that all my pain would have been in vain. She was so right! I've gone from a 22 dress size to a 14 dress size! And I've lost a little more than 50 pounds at this point! I'm on my way to the gym for the first time since my surgery! I feel great - good enough that everyone says I'm glowing! And while I haven't kept to my diet (because living in New Orleans, I NEED FOOD THAT TASTES GOOD!!!) , I am still eating smaller portions and cutting back on sugar. I am losing about a pound and a half a week now. I just want to encourage you and anyone else that needs it - to KEEP THE COURSE and KEEP THE FAITH!!! As hard as it is, STAY OFF THE SCALE FOR NOW! Weigh yourself in a month if you want, but for now, use your clothes as your guide! The looser they become, the more you will be encouraged! After all, that's really what matters - that you feel comfortable in your clothes! The very best to you and all of us! Again, KEEP THE FAITH! YOU WILL WIN!!!! 💜💚💛

    Stalling

I had my Gastric Bypass surgery on October 6th. I was experiencing the three-week stall myself - just couldn't lose an ounce. Stepped on the scale this a.m. and I am down 2 lbs 4 oz! I knew about the stall and I just kept with the plan. It's now broken and I'm losing weight again! If I can encourage you in any way, I hope you just stick with the plan. Leave the scale alone for a week or two. You will be happy when you see that you've broken the stall! 😀

    Liver reduction day of surgery

The first day is the hardest. There is a lot of pain and things don't seem to settle well with your stomach. Take the pain meds as you need them to get through that discomfort. I went home after two days and used all the pain medication within the first two days after I was home (because I really didn't receive much). I told my doctor and had a refill of the medication. But by day three at home, the pain was tolerable. Make sure you are not gulping your liquids. I did that once - and I realized that I would never do that again. Take things slowly! I know you will want to rush things (at least I sure did), but I have learned that this is a sprint and that my body is healing while learning new habits. I don't want to have any further problems, so I am making sure that I don't rush the process. Keep us updated!
