goodness me I should take my own advice!!!!! UGH having bread and hot chips way to often these days, it's a slippery slope people stay away from "indulgent foods" as long as you can. I am battling the steady weigh gain train now

Let's Talk About Maintenance
SleeverSk replied to maintenanceman's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I guess there are 2 sides of the coin when it comes to maintenance it didn't even occur to me that losing to much would be an issue but obviously it is. for some. I am in the cant keep it off category. I'm back in my mindless nibbling from the fridge 100 times a day habit -
Let's Talk About Maintenance
SleeverSk replied to maintenanceman's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
i'm Having a hard time with maintenance . I really don't feel like I have even had the surgery most days. -
You are so right, here in Australia dr's surgeries are run like a money-making enterprise not health care providers, you get 5 mins max in the office and dare you want to address more than 1 issue regardless of if the symptoms could be related you have to make another appointment. its 1 symptom per visit. How is that providing good health care and getting a full picture of what's going on with someone?

Had surgery for GERD, need to gain weight... suggestions?
SleeverSk replied to jesscanntoo's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
well, if it was me, I would be indulging in higher calorie foods but obviously don't overdo it. allow yourself a few little luxuries like pasta and bread if you can handle them. -

New to this and facing anger
SleeverSk replied to Theia103121's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
it's a good thing you are going through the anger now and not after surgery as it seems so much worse then, the benefits certainly outweigh the bad. but in time normally around the 12 months to 2-year mark you will wonder where your restriction has gone and long for the early days post-surgery. you will be able to eat your fav foods just don't overdo it and make the most of the early post op days as the past very quickly. I thought I would never eat normally ever again and that I would never enjoy food again, but I did, and I can, and you will too. -
Embrace this period while you can, don't rush into things. but yes, you will be able to have a beer before a meal, yes you will be able to guzzle some water you will just have to learn where your new stop point is. yes, you will be able to eat way more than you thought would be possible and long for the early days of restriction. 20 pounds in 6 weeks is good you are right on track

Yes, I just saw the link and read the info on the page; I see its more of a treatment rather than a "surgery". But still having constipation to that level is not good and something else might be going on.
-
WOW, I'm sorry but that's not normal, why on earth should you "expect" to have more Surgeries and to put up with your bowel issues, it sounds awful. A little bit of constipation sure but what you have described is full on. Has your dr checked you for any underlying issues? am I missing something here? I would be getting a second opinion.

2 years out and went to show someone 6 months ago and I couldn't even find them lol

I went through the same thing and the same feelings; it gets better it really does. once you start eating normal food and drinking more than a sip at a time you will feel much better. once you get over that stage things go back to normal pretty quick to quick for me. My advice, don't rush it because this period of restriction can lessen a great deal anywhere from the 6-month mark to 2 years. I didn't believe my surgeon when he told me this but it's true. now I wish I had the fresh post op restriction. But yes it sucks right now but you will get through it and in 12 months you will know it was the right thing to do.

Normal? Suggestions?
SleeverSk replied to Wolfgirl17's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it's pretty normal, I remember licking chips just to get the taste lol. I remember craving a burger and chips but the thought of them rarely crosses my mind these days. I think it's because you know you can't have it you want it -
Will I ever enjoy food again?

Bitter Skin?
SleeverSk replied to Flamingowatcher2023's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's not ketosis maybe directly after surgery it is but I am 2 years post op and I'm experiencing smells that aren't there and I can taste salt in foods intensely but to be honest I had never connected it with surgery before -

Curious About Post-Op Days
SleeverSk replied to FlowerGirl44's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it was ok, I think the first week you are tired and just concentrating on healing, week 3 however I was over it and regretting it big time, but I don't anymore. -

Bitter Skin?
SleeverSk replied to Flamingowatcher2023's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have started to smell smells that I don't think are there, I can't remember if this was happening before surgery, but it does happen now, don't know if its surgery related but I don't think so but maybe it is. -
this was me all over I am almost 2 years out now I don't regret it one bit. when I was in the stage you're in now I was even googling stomach transplants lol. but I know it doesn't feel like it now, but it does get better took me about 4 to 6 months to feel better then 10- 12 months to realise it was the right thing to do. Big Hugs you will get there.
