Any Military Dependants out there????
bugginbri replied to mljalways's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My husband is a cop. He's currently deployed to Kuwait but he's flys into Iraq weekly. He's been gone almost 3 months and we have 3 more months to go. Its been tough mainly because I have three young boys to take care of. Finding time to focus on me is hard. I am still loosing but I have bad days. On the days that I am feeling sorry for myself and lonely I have noticed that I don't eat as well as other days. I know that I am an emotional eater and its tough. I just keep facing forward because I know that when I go to bed that is one more day closer to my husband coming home. -
My husband and I bought a nice treadmill in January and it sat and collected dust for many months. Now, since I had my surgery I have used it much more than ever. I got one with an incline option so I set it at a 3% incline and walk briskly. I add a little bit more time each time I walk. I have three young children so I have to find the right time to exercise. I would recommend getting a treadmill for sure.

I can sympathize. I haven't lost any weight since I started mushies. I don't feel much in the way of restriction either. Its disappointing for sure but I am hoping that my first fill (2 weeks away) will boost the loss.

Expanding on "mushy" foods
bugginbri replied to Lonestar925's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on mushies now and I can have egg salad. I just cut up boiled eggs with a little big of light mayo. Chew it well and it goes down great. -
Fat free refried beans thinned with chx stock and topped with cheese.

Is there a mushy thread
bugginbri replied to illinoishusker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The ricotta bake sounded so great. I had to try it. I went to the store and bought the stuff and its in the oven now. I can't wait to try it. Question. How did you eat the hummus? With anything? Do you make your own? -
Okay, i'm getting closer to the big day. I will be banded on the 23rd. Does anyone on here have any advise or thoughts about Dr. Warnock? I'm in the Wichita Falls, TX area.

Ugh! I'm on day two. I was SO hungry last night going to bed. I thought for sure that I was going to be STARVING this morning but I wasn't. I had my shake. I think I finally made it taste decent. I put half a banana and blended it with ice. The banana really made a difference in the flavor. I have my nutrition class today. I'm anxious about that. One day down, nine to go.

Ugh! I start tomorrow. I'm dreading the two weeks of basically nothing. Tonight being my last night of a real full meal, I feel like i'm on death row having my last meal or something. I think I am starting with a bad attitude but I hope that it gets better.

Hi All, I am just a few weeks away from my surgery. I am scheduled for October 23rd. I am anxious and very nervous at the same time. I have to start my liquid protein diet on the 13th. It consists of liquid protein shake for breakfast and dinner and a small salad with protein at lunch. Is this what everyone means when they talk about a "liquid diet?"

How funny that you say that. My husband is so excited about all the uniforms and gear too. Especially the winter Gortex.

I was approved by Tricare but haven't heard anything about having to pay. I better check into this since my surgery is only 2 weeks away.

Hi, i'm an Air Force wife. My husband is preparing for his first deployment. We've been in for 8 years. Anyhow, I will be banded on the 23rd. He leaves early December. I'm nervous about my transformation and his thoughts when he gets back. He is very supportive of my doing this so I hope and pray that he will be happy with the results.

Dr. Warnock is in Wichita Falls. His office is right by MSU. Check out bariatricsofnorthtexas.com

I am interested in what it takes to get Tricare to approve Lapand. I have scheduled my first appointment with my PCM on base. I am 100 lbs overweight and had Gestational Diabetes with my third and last pregnancy. I also have a huge family history of Diabetes. My mom just passed away at 54 years old from complications of diabetes. I just don't know if all of this will be enough to get approved. I know that Tricare requires a person to have some sort of health problems along with being 100 lbs overweight. Does anyone have a similar experience? Can you tell me what I can expect to hear from either my PCM or Tricare? Also will I be referred to the HAWC before anything else? Any help is greatly appreciated!:scared2:

Thank you all for your thoughts and advise. I am hoping that the PCM that I will see is going to be the right person. It seems that it can go either way but that it depends alot on the PCM.
