Need to refind my motivation.
Pegsinthewoods replied to Angelhope82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We sound similar. Banded about the same time, lost about the same amount, etc. I'm thinking "the honeymoon is over." The first twelve months, I lost weight without trying. Now I've been wrestling with the same four pounds since July! This week I decided that I need to get back to my roots. I pulled out my old food/exercise diary and committed myself to eat and exercise like I did when I was first banded. I've learned more about slider foods than a bandster should know. Let's toughen-up and eat our lean protein first and then some veggies. Take your vitamins and go for a walk. Please, Lord, if I can't do it for myself, let me do it for those who love me. -
I have a little cup warmer that I use. It's one of those you plug in and it has a little hot plate. I've seen something similar for candles. It works for me.

Is this really worth it??
Pegsinthewoods replied to MrsBerggren's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not going to get into whether it is worth it or not to be banded, I'm just going to share something that works for me. I have found that sometimes I irritate my pouch and I need to revert to full liquids for a day or so. It seems whenever I get stuck, I get sore. -
Rockbandster? Is that you?

11 months later.....
Pegsinthewoods replied to creed2474's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded 14 months ago. I have been at a plateau since the end of July. This past week I started adding weights to my walking and hopefully, that will start me losing again. What I want to say is that part of our problem (we who are obese) maybe that we have metabolic syndrome. Our bodies don't want to lose weight. I had the same plateau on my way up. I was at this weight for about four years and so that I have remained here for the last three months, “shouldn't” get me down. I didn't gain this weight in 1-2 years and I probably won't lose it that quick either. I have to remind myself, this is for life. If I'm not working my tool - shame on me. Get back on the wagon. If I am and it's not going as fast as others, I take solace in knowing that I am healthier now and if I remain steady, more weight will come off. Good luck on your journey. -
How do you get your 64 ounces of water in a day?
Pegsinthewoods replied to katmeow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink my Water on a schedule. I drink 20 oz bottles three times per day and each takes me about 30 minutes to drink. I figure I get the other four ounces just in other beverages/fruits/veggies. 1 - first thing in the morning I drink my first bottle. wait 30 minutes, eat breakfast 2 - eleven o'clock am (done by 11:30, eat lunch at 12:00) 3 - five o'clock pm, drive home and drink water. 5:30 start supper and eat about 6:00. I find if I schedule things, exercise included, it is easier for me to accomplish. -
I had a check-up yesterday and when they measured me, my waist was smaller than my hips!!! I also am no longer morbidly obese! I love my Realize Band!

My Waist is Smaller Than My Hips
Pegsinthewoods replied to Pegsinthewoods's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded Aug. 4, 2008. I have lost 48.2 pounds. I have been on a plateau since July 16 but I feel like I am getting smaller and I think it will show-up on the scales any day now. -
Thanks for the input. I see my doc the week after next. I probably will just wait until then and ask for a small unfill. I do know that if I burp, the pounding in my ears lessens. I feel like the weirdest bandster ever! :smile2:
-
This might sound a little weird but has anyone been so tight that they could feel it in their eardrums? I got an adjustment last Wednesday and I swear, everytime I put something into my stomach, my ears start pounding. I'm considering a small un-fill.

anyone try unflavored unjury?
Pegsinthewoods replied to hessekids's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use unflavored Unjury all of the time. I like creamy soups (cream of brocoli, etc) and I sprinkle one scoop in my bowl with the soup and sprinkle on a little cheese. Can I taste it? Maybe a little but it is worth the small taste to get my protein. I am a slow loser, though, but a steady one. -
Any Realize Bandsters Finally starting to lose weight after a long time
Pegsinthewoods replied to Sydney Lucy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded Aug. 4, 2008. I have lost 47.2 pounds with the Realize Band. My weight loss is slow but it keeps going in the right direction plus, I can live like this. I'm not constantly looking for food! :tongue_smilie: -
Bra question
Pegsinthewoods replied to june09bandit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On days when I am especially tight, I feel like my bra actually inhibits my band's ability to pass food. Like the bra adds to the restriction of the band. I'll unhook for awhile and usually those days, I have to stick to mushies. It's not everyday but I do notice it periodically. :smile2: -
I experienced port pain after surgery and after the one fill I have received. Both times I used an abdominal binder and it really helped to relieved the pain. My doc prescribed it so my insurance covered it but you can buy them at Walmart.

protein, protein, protein. I find I frequently plateau due to "metabolic resistance". If I up my protein, for awhile, the plateau breaks loose. I'm not a quick loser but I am a continuous loser.

Calling all august 2008 bandsters!!!
Pegsinthewoods replied to MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded Aug. 4 and though I have not lost near what you two have, I am still doing really well for me. I have lost 45.2 pounds and two sizes. I know it doesn't sound like much to some folks but to someone like me who couldn't lose weight before, it is AMAZING! I love my band! -
Did your un-banded spouse lose weight after you got banded?
Pegsinthewoods replied to slbedgood's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have lost 43.4 pounds so far. My DH has lost about 30 (w/o the band). -
How the Lap-Band actually works, fills and refills
Pegsinthewoods replied to Wendell Edwards's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am nine months out and got my first fill Wednesday. My doc doesn't encourage fills as long as you lose about a pound/week. I had slowed to a .5 pound/week and requested a fill. Listen you to your body. You'll know when you're at your "sweetspot". :glare: -
Around the port pain
Pegsinthewoods replied to Ivernous's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same thing. I first went to the doc to be sure I didn't have an infection or any other complications and then he prescribed an abdominal binder which worked great! -
painful port site
Pegsinthewoods replied to londongirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same situation. I visited my doc to be sure there wasn't any complications and he prescribed an abdominal binder that I wore for a couple of weeks. It worked great. -
My port site was very painful after surgery. I went to my doc to be sure it wasn't infected, etc, and thankfully it wasn't. He then prescribed an abdominal binder which I wore for several weeks. It gave support to my port area as the stiches that attached the port to my body healed. :crying:

Help!! Banded 4weeks ago and still having pain at the port site!!
Pegsinthewoods replied to chocolate diamond's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
While you're at the doc, you might want to ask about an abdominal binder. I had one for a couple of weeks and it really helped me. :sneaky: -
I need feedback please! ASAP!
Pegsinthewoods replied to robync_14's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a similar situation after being banded and my doc prescribed an abdominal binder which I wore for a couple of weeks. It worked great! You can buy them at Walmart, etc w/o a prescription but with one, my insurance paid. -
words that have stuck with me...

Whew! thanks, I needed that. -
Is there anyone out there banded but not filled
Pegsinthewoods replied to Lolagirlie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded Aug. 4 with the Realize Band. I have lost just over 40 pounds and have not had a fill. As long as my progress is one pound per week, my doc says no need for a fill. And, that's fine with me! Forty pounds may not sound like a lot to most folks but it is MAJOR for me. I have never lost that much without a relapse. I have VERY good restriction and my eating and exercise habitats have vastly changed for the good.
