  1. Hi all, it's been a while scince I've posted anything here. The true is I hit a plateau. I wasn't losing or gaining. I even stopped going to the gym, which was a bad decision. I ended up gaining a few pounds over the holidays. At least it wasn't 10-15 like most holidays before. Anyway, I've had two fills since last posting. I am now at 5cc's and I finally feel like I have good restriction. It feels like the second or third week after surgery. It's great, yet I have PBed several times since my last fill this past Thurday. I'm not chewing my food properly and I am still trying to eat too much. When I feel full I still take another bit or two and of course, I start to slim or PB. Sorry - TMI. I hope this means I'm close to my sweet spot. I hoping to see some loss this week.

    5K anyone?

I use to enjoy jogging years ago. In fact I ran a half marathon once and after it I stopped running and kept gaing weight. Anyway, I want to get back to run/walking. I recently found a podcast called Podrunner Intervals which will help me train for a 5K by run/walking in nine weeks. Check out my thread in the fitness and exercise for forum for more information. Perhaps other Auguest All-Stars would be interested as well. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f81/anyone-up-training-their-1st-5k-76766/#post1007101
  4. This past weekend I discovered Podrunner Intervals on itunes. It's a series of podcasts that contians non-stop music to run to. There is a nine week program to train to run a 5K. It starts by walking for 90 seconds and then running for 60 seconds. Each week the amount of run time increases and the amount of walking decreases until you can run a 5k. The music changes as you workout. It gets faster when you are running and slows down during the walks. It's somewhat similar to the "Coach to 5K" program but it's to music to keep you motivated. Plus you do not need to keep looking at your watch to make your are keeping up with the correct run and walk times. The music tells you when to transition from walking to running and back to walking. I started week one yesterday. It was great! The music kept me moving. I'm planning on completing the nine week 5k program. The DJ suggests to complete each week's workout three times before moving on the next week. However, I am not going to move to the next week until I'm sure I am able to. I want to take it easy to make sure I don't injure myself. So, it may take me more then the nine weeks. Anyone care to join me? I'm not looking for a competition. I just thought we could encourage each other as we move through each training week. For the more experienced runners there is a program to build up to an 8k or a 10K. Plus there is a non interval podrunner for the really experienced runner. Check out his website or go to itunes and look up podrunner. It's free!! http://www.djsteveboy.com/mixes.html

  6. Well I'm experiencing the same. I have 3 cc's in my band but I am surprised with how much I can still eat. Also my hunger comes back quickly. For example I stopped at chick-fil-a and ate only 8 nuggets (only 260 calories) and a few fries and about 2.5 hours later I started feeling hungry again. I think this is mainly why my weight loss has slowed down to .5lbs a week. I'm hoping my 3rd fill will keep the hunger off and I start losing faster, but it will be a few more weeks until I get my next fill.
  7. I also forgot to weigh in last week. I lost .5 lbs last week and this week after getting another 1 cc in my band (3 cc's total) I lost 1.5 lbs. Not a lot of exercise this week, in fact I haven't made it to the gym in almost 2 weeks. I'm making it a point to get there this weekend.

    3mos - Am I eating too much

I feel like I am eating too much as well. Plus my hunger comes back much sooner. I now have 3cc's and it will be a few more weeks until my next fill. My weight loss has slowed down to only 1/2 lb a week. At least it is something. I'm hoping I continue to lose and not start gaining.

    Friday weigh in October 31

Down .5 lbs I'm really late posting last Friday's weight loss. I figure I better post tonight before everyone starts posting tomorrow.

Anyone up for training for a 5K?

Congrats 2Big4U!!! You do get use to the 3 min intervals. At first I thought they were way too long but I then got use to it. I'm on week 5 right now.

    Confessing, Then Moving On

I have to laugh. I'm sitting here reading your post with a bag of chips in my hand. I justified it by telling myself that I had an o.k. day when it came to eating. But I have to admit I am having a hard time lately eating well. I had one fill of 2cc's and I have another one coming up on Nov 6th. I can't wait.

Friday Weigh In Oct. 17, 2008

I just realized I posted this week's weight loss on last week's thread. Anyway, which ever thread you read, I am now down a half a pound this week for a total of 32 pounds.
  17. Down .5 lbs this week. I was a little disappointed b/c on Thursday morning I was down 1.5 lbs and then gained a pound by Friday morning. Oh well. At least I am down from the week before. Total loss 32 pounds.

What the heck have i done

I think we wondered what we were getting in to at some point, especially immediately after surgery with all the gas pains. Anyway, seven weeks later, down 32 pounds and now exercising again I have to say...I was the best decision I ever made. Even on what I call a bad day (a day in which I eat more then what I should or not the healthiest choice in foods) I cannot eat as much as I use to before.

    Since my surgery....

Great post and you are doing awesome Claudine!!! It's always a good idea to look at the big picture when we have a bad day or week. Look at all we have accomplished since being banded or even the first day of that long two week presurgery diet. Remeber when we were all struggling with that diet. Just remember when we hit our one year bandiversery we are going to be completely new people. Thanks for reminding us to look at our montly acheivements.

    5K anyone?

Congratulations Krtork on starting. Remember there is no need for speed. Take your time and enjoy each workout. With each run you will get stronger and faster. Also move on to the next week of running when YOU feel ready. You do not want to injure yourself. Keep it up!! I'm sure your husband can't wait to have a new running partner.
  21. I guess I really need to be thankful I have a good doctor. He has never scolded me. Generally I am a rule follower and he said we expect people to cheat. He also told me he wants to know how food goes down if I drink while I eat b/c this is a sign that there is no restriction at all. I love my protein shakes for breakfast and after my workouts. My doctor is fine with it and even said it's a good source of protein to start your day.

My mum's got her band date

Just curious (you don't have to answer if it's too personal)... Why didn't she get banded with you and your dad?
  23. I never heard of McDonald's offering a Deli Choice Wholemeal roll. I'm going to have to check this out online since it is not available around here. It's interesting to hear what McDonald's sells around the world. When I traveled to Spain both McDonald's and Burger King sold Flan as one of their Desserts.

Anyone up for training for a 5K?

I'm not an exercise porfessional, but personal opinion is that you keep moving. I wouldn't worry if you are making the right bpm. As long as you are moving faster during the higher bpm and slower during the lower bpm you are doing well. Years ago I would worry about how fast I was going and how far. I would even get upset if I stopped a run and had to walk. But now I all I care about is movement. I have to remind myself that the simple fact I am off the couch and moving again is the most important thing. I like the intervals b/c no matter how fast or slow I was moving I generally go a little faster and farther the next time. I hope this all makes sense as you read it. Yesterday my knee felt better so I ran on the treadmil instead of the eliptical. I did well and felt great, but now today my knee is sore again. I'm not sure what to do at this point. I want to run so I am going to have to take it easy or something b/c I do not want to stop due to an injury.
