    Banded soon!!!

Well, this time tomorrow I will be banded. I have to report to the hospital at 6am for a 7:30 surgery time. I can't believe it's here already. Thanks guys for all your informative posts. It's helped me become more prepared for this surgery. I was nervous but now I'm excited and can't wait until it's over. I have to spend the night so I will be back sometime on Tuesday to let you know how everything went.
  2. Well, today is the start to becoming banded. I officially start the two week pre-op diet. I'm a little nervous about giving up certain foods and wondering if I will be able to survive on just Protein shakes and veggies. My wife is starting with me today even though she doesn't have to officially start until tomorrow. She wants to get an extra day. For the past couple of weeks I haven't been dieting, but with my wife we were visiting all of our favorite restaurants so we could order our favorite foods. Yesterday, for our last meals we went to Red Lobster for lunch and then an Italian restaurant for dinner and I pigged out for the last time. It has been our "Tour de Food" so-to-say. I'm glad we did this b/c now I am ready to say good-bye to that lifestyle and begin this diet. Not just the pre diet but the whole change in eating once I am banded. Any suggestions on how to get through the two week pre diet? What were your favorite Protein Shakes with Water?
  3. I was just watching CNN and it seems Obama announce he know who his VP will be but he is not saying anything at this time. Any guesses?
  4. Nanook, I will be banded tomorrow and it's sad to hear you had such a difficult time with your band. It doesn't bother me either way if you keep the band or get it remove. However, you are coming across extremely frustrated, disappointed and mad. I understand this is due to not losing and the problems with the fill tech but in my opinion it's not the right frame of mind to make the decision to go through with another surgery. To me you are coming across with the attitude "because they messed up I'm just going to quite." I don't mean to offend you by saying that but that's how your posts are coming across to me. Now that you had all your fill taken out my suggestion would be to use this break from the band to get some counseling to help you past these feelings of anger and disappointment. Then in a few weeks or months once you are feeling better, with the help of your counselor and doctor make your decision to keep or remove the band.
  5. Tomorrow is the day! It's really exciting to be able to write that and see that in print. I started the two week pre op diet on the 11th and I am now down 12 lbs. I did cheat a little bit but I'm not going to worry. Today I'm only allowed clear liquids. I think it is going to be tough but I will not cheat today. My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow at 7:30am. So this time tomorrow I will be banded and eating my ice chips. That's all I'm allowed after surgery tomorrow.

    Newbie to Lapbandtalk.com

Hey, you came over to the thread and look at that you found a band buddy. I have to admit the August AllStars is the best monthly group here. You're lucky you didn't get a September date. Not that the September group is bad or anything. I'm just bias towards our group.

    Finally Banded :)

Congratulations on being banded!!!!! I'm sorry to hear you are in such pain right now, but I'm sure it will all pass quickly. In a few days you will feel like a new person.
  8. Thank you Roheryn. It's really exciting that it's finally tomorrow. As soon as I get back home on Tuesday I will post to let everyone know how everything went.

    Mushie Things

This probably doesn't help much, but my diet allows me yogurt and sf pudding at 7 days post op. I can't have applesauce and mashed potatoes until 15 days post op.

    I'm scheduled!!!

:thumbup:I just received a call from the hospital. I have to report in on Monday morning at 6:00. My surgery will be at 7:30 am. I can't believe it's only days away.

    I'm scheduled!!!

MIGMOM, my wife, is doing well. She did not get her time for surgery yet. She was told they will call her on Monday with her time for Tuesday. We got a call the other day saying I could push my surgery back a day so both of us could get banded the same day, but my wife wanted me keep the original schedule and go ahead of her. We are both excited. It's hard to believe it's all happening so soon.

    hello everyone!!!

Welcome to the forum Jason. I am getting banded the day before you. It gets more and more exciting as it gets closer. Good luck with your surgery.
  14. Double check too if the $200 dollars covers only your first visit or for all following visits. I had to pay $300 for the initial psychiatrist & nutritionist appointment but this also covers all additional appointments, phone calls/emails with questions and their support groups. I've heard of some people submitting it to their insurance and getting it approved after some insistence. You should not have to pay for your doctor's pre and post diet food. You can shop around for Protein shakes and find the best prices and the ones you like the most.

    Shocked!! Approved!!!

Congratulations!!!! Did you tell your doctor's office yet? Did you get a date yet? That's the next exciting thing.
  16. dwrd73

    Finally got my date!

Congratulations!!! It's really exciting when you first get your date. Don't worry you will remember everything you need to do. Everyone feels some nervousness, so your not alone there.

    I'm scheduled!!!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! It does seem more real or more official that I now that I have a time for surgery. A friend said she was glad that I had the first time slot of the day b/c the doctor should be more refreshed for the procedure. I am also all stocked up on the GasX and everything else I need. Today, Saturday, is the last day I can eat veggies and have protein shakes. Sunday I'm only allowed clear liquids.

Who do you think Obama will pick for VP?

Well, I was wrong. Biden go the job. Any thoughts?

    Pre-Op tomorrow...(what to expect?)

Great questions!!! Many I know the answers to for my doctor but a few I didn't even think about asking.

Who do you think Obama will pick for VP?

I signed up for the text message as well. I'm betting on Hillary Clinton. I think anyone else would just be giving the election to McCain. We'll see or hear soon.

    Last Appt today...nearly there...

Concerning the shot in the belly...my wife said to just relax. Do not tighten your stomach at all. When she gives her insulin shots in belly it's a lot less pain or even pain free when her stomach is relaxed. My natural reation will be to tighten up when I see the needle. I will have to make sure I don't look.

    Pre-Op tomorrow...(what to expect?)

During my pre-op appointment I met with a PA to discuss my what meds to take or stop taking the before the surgery. They took some blood work to verify my blood type for the blood bank if needed. They also went over the two week pre op diet again and then wanted to know if I had any other questions.

    Last Appt today...nearly there...

That's exciting!!! My wife and I were both excited after our last appointment. We also felt more comfortable knowing we will be in good hands. I know what you mean about the shot in the belly. I feel the same way. My wife is diabetic and takes shots in her belly several times a day but I would rather just have it in the arm. I read on a thread that some people with a BMI <40 do not need the shot b/c they are less likely to have blood clots. So I ask the PA during our visit and, of course, got a "NO, EVERYONE GETS THE SHOT." Oh, well. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that they will give it to me AFTER I'm a sleep. If not, I'll tough it out.
