I actually live in new zealand and there aren't many stores here either, i wish I could sew 'cos I think it would be a great business to start up. Here all the big clothes are the same and you see them on everyone else:mad: Why is there a wheel in the tree in your photo, hehehehe!!!! Regards Fiona

Yeah, it did, not the best standard of photo though, this was me at my cousins wedding in Australia last week, I was very subconscious of what I was wearing and my weight, so made me a bit down, but more determined when I got back that I was doing the right thing!

Trying to send a photo through so you can all know me better, hope this works......(holds breath)!!!:phanvan

anyone having surgery on April 19th?
amourette replied to sheree a.'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
HI THERE, maybe is irrelevant but I am being banded on April 18, in New Zealand. it is great how you are both ( your hubby and you) going thru' this together, I wished i had someone to share this with you are so lucky! When I posted on this site no-one had the same date, but now they are all coming out of the wood-work so to speak! Here in NZ you must make a date well in advance, but people don't seem to on these sites, can you book suddenly or is it more a case, that people book then suddenly discover this site? -
:omg: :omg: I agree you guys are really strong. My one will be only 2 weeks and starts in 12 days.........it seems like there are so many different approaches to this doesn't there. Some have to do nothing. But good on you all.............best of luck!:clap2:

Wow, our group is getting bigger still in the small time I was away!!! Wow! Welcome to jellibeanz, disneynut, Ceparano and Shackdog, and Kathi and also Infaith (again did you say, what happened)!!!! wow, some are even starting to get the same date as me, was feeling alone there for awhile as you were all so early in April. Re my insurance, I am still going ahead with it, but am damn well making sure I send EVERY SINGLE bill I get for consultations etc, which may be more in the end anyway, and then they say if they give the $4000 i wouldn't be eligible to claim for follow-ups so maybe it is a blessing in disguise:) So I am all happy again, well except for the terrible Last Supper Syndrome I am having. 2 Questions for you all, does anyone know how I can post a photo of me into this thread so you can put a face to my name, and secondly anyone into coming into the chat room at a set time for us all to chat? Might be hard to organise but we could try?? Hugs to you all:clap2: :hungry:

Anticipation of Band leading to out-of-control eating
amourette replied to CLOE's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have it so bad also Cloe, it isn't nice, I feel like a big piggy wiggy eating everything in sight.......I have felt yuck last few days so think it is catching up with me, I am due to be banded April 18 and think in next few days I will try and get better as my liquid pre-op diet isn't far away!!!! Good luck with it, you are not alone here........:hungry: -
I am trying to hang in there, but feeling so down at moment, maybe i need a good sleep.............I will go ahead, but was thinking about your situatiom which is probably worse than mine..........:cry

I know a lot of meds get thrown at us before many of us go down the lap-band option, would also like to hear what others have been offered. I was offered metformin, which I think is something to do with diabetes? maybe, also tried the old xenical and reductil..........my reduction in appetite never reached the scale it went off the other way heheh!!! Love to you all especially all those going down this road this year!!! Fiona Due to be banded April 18th!:help:

Hi all:cry I'm so sad today, just had a few tears. My health insurance rang to say I didn't fit the criteria for financial help, it was only $4000 but it was a lot to help with the $15K fee that I am facing............am a bit heartbroken as I really thought there would be no problem, am surprised doctor said there would be no problem, surely he sends enough of these evaluations off to know what will get thru' and what won't. I will go ahead with my op but it means I will be financially strapped even more, damn it!!! How did all us other bandsters get their ops financed would love to hear.........other than that hope you are all well, hi Picardy3, hope you are getting thru' your days fine!:hungry:
-
Hi Angelu, welcome to the April group.........wow, another one getting banded in the first week........... and Indababy......and JenR!!!! nanahanna, hope you will check in with us and let us know when you do get the go-ahead. Picardy3..........I am thinking of you and your crockpot;) Well gang, when I rang up to make an appointment to pick up my pre-op diet drinks the nurse said I may not be able to be flying before the op, as you probably know by now I am a long-haul flight attendant and this just isn';t an option for me.......I have to break for 4 weeks as it is from flying after op and have a mortgage to pay by myself on top of that!!!!! So waiting with bated breath to see what will happen, if I can't fly so close beforehand I am going to try and push my date forward a week, so I may be with the 10th -15th April group also........will let you know! Having to be grounded from my job has made me realise how big a thing this all is, and how important it is and how much I need to want it..........one of my distance kind of relatives comented on my weight and didn't I have to be skinny to be flying as a job, it got me so down and depressed after, I wish I had had the guts to be rude back to her........I mean I used to be skinny, and I am really good at my job........still hurts a bit!:phanvan

Wow, I see we have a couple more 'bandits' for April, will add you to the list and keep us informed if you can of how it goes. Picardy3, I thought of you on Friday going for your appointment, see I am jealous that you have started your pre-op diet 'cos it means you are closer to your date, I still have about 10 days to go before mine starts and I am stuffing all the food in my sight, did you have that problem also? You will get thru', 'cos you can come on here and talk to us!! Maybe you could write a list in large writing and stick on your wall, in your purse why you are doing this and look at it every hour..........I know I am all talk, as I really don't see how I am going to get thru' my pre-diet of 4 Protein shakes only a day, my mom said she would do it with me for encouragement but balked when she heard what I could only have, um, don't think she is joining me now, hehehe!!!!! Do you need any ideas from us for protein meals? Nanahanna, sorry about your news, I understand, I have to pay fully for my own op, my medical will cover perhaps $4k if I am lucky, but I am up for about $10k myself out of my own pocket, so it has been a bit decision for me to undertake. In Australia it is covered fully by medical insurance, they are soooo lucky. I had a hard weekend, i will post more in next message in a few hours as I have to go and do some errands, but it really got me down about my weight. So hi to you all!!! Thinking of you :biggrin1: :clap2:

:biggrin1: Well hello all, after sitting on this site for the last six months I am due to be banded ( all going to form) on 17 april, I have sat on this site for a while before decidiing what I wanted to do, I can't express how amazing this site has been for me, has answered so much more than a doctors clinic could, and I appreciate all of you that have made contributions to this site, thank u all!!! If anyone is due to be banded at this time I would love to make contact you and go thru' this together, I am 35, female, single and looking to get my life back...............anyone else feel the same Kind regards fiona:)
-
I put you on the maybe list.......... Picardy3, I can't believe your pre-op is Friday, would love to know how it goes.....post us something if you can!!:biggrin1: We all seem to be similar ages as well which I find interesting........I was doing a chart of us today......Yes I had a bit of free time, so I knew exactly who was going when, and I can bug you all with questions hehehe!!:hat: I am hoping to post of photo of me soon, so you know my face as well as my name..........does anyone else want to do the same! My biggest problem (excuse the pun) is that I am tending to eat everyhing in sight. It is like every meal is my last meal.......apparently that is normal, but I feel a bit down about stuffing my face. My reasoning is that I want to enjoy it all before the liquid diet. On a better note I just went to the movies and saw Failure to Launch, it is sooooo funny and the Pink Panther movie, highly recommend it also for some laughs........so feeling happier now, nothing like a good laugh.:biggrin1:

Hi all, I have been searching thru' the posts but can;t find anything relating to why people suffer gas pains after surgery? Sounds like some people are in a lot of pain, why does this happen, is it because the stomach is swollen or something?:omg:
-
AAaahhhh, thanx Tilly, now I understand.............would you know also why people often get pains between the shoulders also??? Many regards
-
:clap2: so this is the total i have for us at the moment, there are 9 definites being banded, wow, some of you are on the same day, and 3 maybes.........I am relying on you all to let me know how it goes, as you are all before me, I am the 17th at the moment!!!!:clap2:

Don't worry too much about losing the weight, just be true to yourself and tell yourself everyday how much you want this, come on here and read these messages everyday, that is what I am going to do!!! I think I saw somewhere on here, that it is to shrink the liver more than anything, so maybe weight doesn't matter that much. Yup but also getting worried about liquid diet, I am eating foods now I love, before starting liquids, I think I am due to start 30th March!!! Yum, mexican tonite, hehehe!!!!:hungry: :clap2:

Hi All I am interested in this question greatly, as I am being banded in April and am a longhaul flight attendant. I asked my doctor all about this, but I suspect that he hasn't banded many before, he said he had already done a pilot though. I am not allowed to fly for a month after the op, it seems to be more for DVT ( blood clot possibilities) than anything. I begged to be back at work earlier as if I don't fly I don't get paid, but they are being very firm on this, wonder if it may be to do with a chance of problems while being in an overseas country and not being able to get to the doctors? I am nervous that I might have a bad experience in front of passengers while getting used to what foods work for me..............! Guess I will be the expert in this field in 8 weeks time, (grins)!
-
Thanks Kathy, how do you feel after a year........are you glad you did it, has your life changed much........??
-
I am scared also, but would love to have a family one day soon, so I am looking at it like, how bad can it be, if I can't get thru' this how would I ever give birth.........does that sound daft? Do you have children already?
-
Yippeeee, I think that is 4 of us altogether now, where are you from? ARe you excited, scared? Did you do a lot of thinking about it all before going ahead with the appointment?
-
I see what you mean about bandits (puts down her gun):phanvan My doctor calls his patients and support group the bandits, hehehe!!!! I am so glad to hear other people going thru' this at the same time, my liquid diet will be only 2 weeks thankfully pre-op. Would u guys let me know how you go as you will be slightly before me...................also what is a pre-op Picardy3 and Vicki 1177??
