    My experience with VG.

Anthony you are great to share this info! If I have to lose my band, or if I am not pleased after a year and a half out, I am comitted to have an alternate surgery to address this weight issue. It really helps to hear other peoples experiences!

    Up and rolling...early

Today is Friday!!!!! Other than a meeting that I don't want to attend this afternoon, I have an easy day ahead (I hope!). I had a rough start to the day, I was awoken at 5am by the sound of a transformer behind my house blowing. I got out of bed and grabbed a flashlight, got dressed and went outside to make sure it wasn't just a breaker. Well I ended up showering in the dark at 6am, at least I had hot water still. I went off to work, but my poor kiddos had nothing to do until 10 am when the lights were fixed. It's just a good thing that it didn't happen in the heat of the day when it is 100 outside!!!:embarassed: Now, usually when something goes wrong, I really let it disrupt my life. I won't be able to concentrate on my diet schedule (yes, I have to have a schedule to keep myself going like eating at the same times each day) but I will let a disruption in the norm turn into an excuse to forgo the diet for the day. BUT... I am very proud of myself because I kept the food issue on track, had my slim fast shake and didn't blow it by using comfort food. I even used my morning break at work to lock my door and do aerobics. OOOHhhh, on another positive for myself (as I pat myself on the back) I have not eaten my total points allowance on Weight Watchers for the entire week!!!! I get 30 food points per day and I have been trying to keep it around 25, and I DID IT!!!!

    scary stuff

I do not eat any breads (which is a good thing!), I cannot eat chicken, salmon or mushrooms. I have been afraid to try lettuce, but my favorite veggie is green Beans and I can eat them just fine. I can eat extra lean ground beef, but I haven't tried a tender steak yet. I do not eat regular Pasta, but I found out that I like the multigrain pastas just fine. I do find what I am able to eat to be limiting, but I am happy with my fill level as it keeps me from starving all the time. SO an unfill is out of the question.

    Overeating or PB?

I agree with Wheetsin... Try measuring out your food before you eat.
  9. Congrats on your surgery. It sounds like you are doing great!!!

    Lets rock

O.k.... This is my first journal entry, although I have been banded since April 19, 2006. To date I am down 5 pounds. I have run through the gammot of emotions for the last couple of months. I have spent alot of time depressed about getting the band, and wishing that I had an alternate surgery. I am sick of thinking that I spent $11,000 to lose 5 lbs. I finally have seen myself pull up from my slump over the past two weeks. I joined Weight Watchers online, and journal my food like a MoFo. I started REALLY exercising almost daily. I am finally proud of myself again. I am working towards: a) doing the harder level aerobics dvd being able to finally fit into the fat clothes in my closet c) being able to get into the next lower size in the attic d) doing crunches again e) doing my measurments again and actually seeing the numbers decrease. O.K.. that was alot of mini goals.:clap2: I remember how good I can make myself feel when I try hard enough and put the energy into myself. Obviously for this to work for me I have to make it work, because it sure ain't is easy to lose as I thought it would be. Silly me.:Banane20:

    Grrrrr frickin' fills

It is probably better for you to have it done under fleuro anyways... They will be able to see how much restriction you get from the fill. Sorry your day sucked so bad! ((hugs))

    Bye-bye Star!

I have never been a fan of hers. I didn't like her when she was heavy, as she really seemed to have a pissy attitude. I don't like her thin, as she now seems to be really over the top self-absorbed. I never cared a rats a$$ if she had the GB (in my opinion she definately did), or not. She lost even more brownie points with me when she wrote the book about weight loss then apparently omitted major facts. And she really chapped my ass with the freebies for her wedding. How trashy. But ya know, she is still really wealthy whether she deserves it or not.

    Still no restriction????????

My doc won't do them closer than 4 weeks apart. If I were you, I would have my fill under fleuro to watch the flow through the stoma and that way you could see if you got enough fill.
  16. I'm thinkin' Vegas baby. But... a major TT and to have my boobies back where God intended them to be is pretty high on my list too. I may just have to settle for a new leather jacket, or a nice purse since I am going to be paying for this surgery for the next couple of years.

    Supersized Surgery

I have been following the show faithfully. I think that the one husband sucks. He paid for her to have the surgery, only to bitch about it constantly and throw it in her face. What help is that??? He is completely non-supportive. He eats in front of her constantly and makes comments about how it tastes so good-- and that was when she was on a liquid diet!!! She definately needs to change jobs. She is a food taster and it looks like she eats junk food constantly during work. The other lady who lost alot of weight (170 lbs, I think) has done an awesome job, but got really carried away with her looks. I don't blame her, I would too if I had such a complete transformation! But, she quit paying bills to spend alot of $$ on clothes that she wasn't even wearing. She became obsessed. My heart goes out to both of the ladies. This weight loss issue is alot to overcome.

    Gas pains. Is it food?

I did liquids and had my "last supper" a week before surgery. I am really glad that I stuck to the liquid diet, but it wasn't just for the gas pains I was not going to risk damage to my liver from it being fatty. I had no problems with gas, walk ALOT is all I can say.
  21. Honestly, as of right now I do regret which surgery I chose. I wish I had chose a more drastic approach. I am also not liking the port, the fear of band complications or how it hurts to PB or sometimes just eat. I can also forsee how frustrating the fills could become if you can't get to your sweet spot quickly. BUT... I just had my second fill yesterday and I am already feeling a little better about my band. So maybe I can give you a different answer in 6 months.

    Pre-op tests for Self-Pay Patients

I had alot of pre-op testing, and I am also self pay. My PCP had no problem pushing through all of my tests and my insurance covered them all.

    Wish Center or Mexico

I had my surgery at the Wish Center in San Antonio. I am very happy with the pre & post care. Dr. Rincon was my surgeon and I am confident in his abilities.

How aware are you of your port?

I notice mine alot too. I don't like having it. It caused me the most pain post-op and continues to bother me when I twist, bend, do exercises, roll over and lift things. I really didn't think about it being a factor before I had surgery, but I wish that I had because I probably would have had a RNY instead.
