18 days post VSG- can’t tolerate protein shakes
Tysheena84 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello all. I am new to this forum. I am 18 days postop and struggling to get my protein shakes. Prior to surgery…nonissue. Now any dairy causes me to go to the bathroom. I assume this is normal due to the rapid dumping from stomach to intestines. Has anyone found any tolerable non dairy protein? How did you get your protein in postop? Also… I was home on FMLA for 2 weeks postop. Felt great so I went back to work Tuesday. Now for the past two nights I’ve had some left sided flank pain. What could it be? This happen to anyone else? -

Thank you!!! Fairlife is my jam. I did some research and decided to give it a try. It taste just like chocolate milk. I am actually going to buy mine in bulk now. I was never really a huge dairy person pre-op; so it’s just intensified postop. -
Hello all. I hope you are all doing well. I am 4 weeks post op and on softs now. However, everything that I eat gets me super nauseous. I don’t know what it is. I’m staying in the guidelines of what I can and can’t eat, but I am miserable. I haven’t really lost any weight, but I do see the inches disappearing. Has this happened to anyone? What advice can you give because I am getting very depressed?

I am postop day 6 and I’ve been achy. I am on a full liquid diet now. I will be on it for a week. Today has been rough. I’ve been very emotional and have been doing a little too much today. I know it will get better. Everyone who’s going through it keep pushing forward. -

Prayerfully… 3 days and a wake up for my surgery. I am excited and starting to get a little nervous. I’ve been on this liquid diet for about 11 days and I’m not getting hungry anymore. How’s everyone else doing? -

You can say that again!!!! This is work forever. I too get sick a lot. I know it’s because I’m not eating a lot. I’m at work now and I ate some jello. I’m ok for now, but I’m fighting back the sleep. The clock is not moving fast enough for me. -

Honestly, not that bad. I just make sure I have enough stuff to “eat” and I’m ok. Most of the time I’m so busy that I don’t think about eating. My only thing is fatigue. I am super tired all the time. -

I’m on day 7 and I am doing ok. I’m not fighting hunger as much. I’m doing horrible with my water. I’m drinking probably 2-3 bottles a day vs. my 5 a day. My issue is the stomach aches and headaches. I’m also very tired. I try to do stuff when I have the burst of energy. -

Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!! Day 2 of this liquid diet. I am hungry. I’m doing good, but people keep eating around me. I’m good when I am at home. However, I have to work and it’s soooooo hard to stay focused at work. I’m a nurse and If you’ve ever known a nurse… We love to eat! I’m going to stay strong and keep pushing forward. -

My surgery is scheduled for Jan 18. I am supposed to start my full liquid diet on the 4th. I decided to start on the today. I figured Starting today would give me the weekend to go through the possible side effects of not having any food before I have to go back to work on Tuesday. I am super excited for the future. What are some success tips??? -
I am beyond excited. I have received approval from Tricare and my surgery date is January 18,2021. I am so ready to start living. I am planning on taking 3 weeks off work. I work in the hospital and do not want to go back until I am at least on soft. I do a lot of moving, pushing, pulling, and running to operate on liquids. I am anticipating on going on the liquid pre-op diet January 3rd. So BP friends…give some tips to get me through the additional waiting? P.S. I am hoping that some additional days open sooner and I can be moved up.

I am so ready to get started. I have family coming into town for Christmas. So I am going to enjoy myself and enjoy the family time. I am actually going to start my full liquid diet January 1,22. I figure why wait 4 days. I’m just going to do it. I am trying out different shakes, yogurts, and puddings now. I am very texture oriented. So this will be interesting. For those who work… how much time are you planning on taking off for recovery? -

Surgery: Surgeons plan vs. Tricare approval
Tysheena84 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have Tricare and my surgeon told me that I had to do the “program” for 3 months. However, anyone using Tricare ACTUALLY had to wait that long? I have documented weights from PCP dating back to 2016. We’re there any issues getting approved with Tricare? All advice is welcomed. Thanks in advance 😊
