Turkey Day - at my house?!?!

You could always say that you are not feeling well, which would account for you not eating much. Also - you could order the food in - it seems that the grocery stores these days will cook the turkey and pack it all up. All you'd have to do is ask someone perhaps to bring a jello salad... everything else would be there.
  2. My surgeon told me that it is from the band rubbing on your diaphragm. The pain radiates to the shoulder. I had it right after surgery for awhile... then every now and then. I too had shoulder surgery. This one doesn't stay around forever.

    Older Candidate With Concerns

Arizona Grandma here. I had the surgery on June 30th. It took a while longer to get over the surgery than when I was younger but everything turned out ok, with the exception of one incision that lost a stich and is just healing up. I'm scheduled for my first fill on August 6th. I've lost about 15 pounds, but the inches are going even though the pounds are not. So far, so good! Good Luck to you!
  4. Just banded 6/30 and live in Corona...I had Dr. Monash who is in with Dr. Schwartz. I would be interested in a "band buddy". Do you go to the support groups at St. Joseph's hospital? Sherry

Please help me pain in left rib

Hi Barbiek - I may be using the wrong term...I believe the doctor said diaphragm. The pain is immediately under my left breast...it hurts to take a deep breath. When my shoulder starts to radiate pain....it kind of all goes together. There is a kind of pressure where the band is. It sounds as if you could have the same thing. It helps to lay down...kind of flatten out, and ice seems to help in a big way. I usually put the ice on my shoulder, but I have put it where the band is too. I hope this helps! Sherry

    1st fill---shoulder pain??

I am new - just banded 6/29, and had my first visit to the doctor yesterday. I don't know if this will help, but one of my major complaints was that my left shoulder pain was really bad...and also hard to breathe. He told me that the shoulder pain was from the band rubbing on my diaphragm and that since the skeletal system is all linked...that the shoulder was actually from the band rubbing. I put ice on it at this point and take a tylenol and it seems to go away. Don't know if this could be your problem too. Sherry:smile2:

Please help me pain in left rib

Hello - I was just banded on June 30th and had my first appt with the doctor yesterday. I told him that the worst pain I have had is with my left shoulder...also from my breastbone and sometimes it is hard to breath. The pain is enough to stop me in my tracks from anything I'm doing and I have to lay down. I thought it was from being pulled around in surgery. He says no, it is from the band rubbing on my diaphragm and that the bones structure is all connected...and the really bad shoulder pain is from that. He said that it should keep getting better....if not report. Evidently, about 1 out of 500 people have to have the band moved. Right now, I take extra strength tylenol and lay on an ice bag for about 30 minutes and that seems to have the pain subside. Hope this helps! Sherry
