  1. Happy 45th Birthday coloradogirl!

  2. 3 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 3rd Anniversary coloradogirl!

  3. I had my LB surgery 4/22/08 and Dr. Johnell was my surgeon. I was an outpatient case and went home the same day. I love this practice and this doctor is wonderful. He is thoughtful, caring and his staff is incredible. I love my band (still struggle some days) but this was the best decision I ever made. His team taught me so much and took extra extra care to make sure I was healthy pre-surgery, tested, prepared and ready. I have had fills/unfills/fills and then unfills and everytime they are so nice. I have gained/lost/gained etc.. and never once did I feel they were judging me. I am now down almost 72 lbs from my initial start weight and I attribute my success to his group. They are the best. Pls email me if you would like to discuss more if you are making a decision about a doctor or lband. I have nothing but rave reviews for this doctor.

    New from Colorado

I went to Johnell, he's amazing. I am on depression meds for other reasons and its not an issue. They are, more than anything, looking for alcoholism ... it's bad to be an alcoholic and do this and Johnell is so thorough he doesn't want anyone in his office that will not succeed on the program and I love that about him. I'm in Broomfield!

    Colorado Surgeons

Surgeon Name - Dr. Michael Johnell Location - Greeley Hospital - outpatient Date of banding - 4/24/08 What your surgeon closed with (sutures, glue, staples, etc) - disolvable stiches covered with bandages How many incisions 4 or 5? Type of band (if you know) Lap- 10cc new one Overall cost of your surgery (if you wish to share) 24k but includes 10wk of follow up all pre op test etc.. all covered my insurance, had copay of $800 as it was part of my deductible. I have Blue Shield of California and lap is covered. They got me approved in one week. Started investigating on 3/1 and had surgery 6 wks later. Got all paperwork from family doc, had been on 2 diets with documentation, failed the ordered sleep test and was diagnosed with sleep apnea. And your personal review of the surgeon and his/her office and staff There are not enough words to use to tell you how much I love this staff and this man. They are AMAZING - ask me a million questions, I can't say enough. I had my band put in and he tested it and it had a leak. He replaced it b/f closing me up. I'm so relieved he tested. Would love to meet more Colorado friends. I need a support group of friends to eat 3 bites with.

    I'm miserable

I feel your pain and understand your feelings. I had a terrible internal pain in my left side that I was later told was from the camera that was inserted into my body - I was given patches to help the pain and they worked well. I also was really sore for a really long time, I had read and even know people who were up and better in four days. That was NOT me. I'm now 2.5 months out and I don't even remember the pain and feel great. It does get better and I know you will love it long term. Hang in there, you are not alone
