Why why why did I do this? Slow suicide.
oldandtired replied to Lornapc's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I STILL have nausea. I know you said you couldn't take pills because of your kids, but that would not include anti-nausea pills, would it? I am on two different ones, and I highly recommend talking to your doctor about it. -
I think there was an old song, "If it feels good, do it, if not, just let it lie...." 🤣

Post Op Return to work question
oldandtired replied to DezignDiva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am older, and while getting over the surgery was surprisingly easy, your body has been through a shock. You will get tired more easily, and "your nerves" as my mother used to say, may take a while as well. Look around the boards here. You will see people stressing over what some may consider as minor stuff...it isn't minor to them, but you may burst into tears over nothing. Take the time off. You will need it more than you may think. And there will always be those that will be cleaning house, baking a cake and cutting the grass the next week, putting us all to shame, lol.. -
Dealing with the Changes... Like Loose Skin
oldandtired replied to SuziDavis's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
At (very very) close to 69, I see the loose skin after weight loss too. Do I like it? NO! But I like the way I look in clothes, and I would not go back for all the tea in China... Besides, one hurdle at a time. Face next, then a little nip and tuck for the body... maybe. -
You know, sometimes we eat what we are supposed to, and sometimes we eat what we need to HAVE, LOL! Instant mashed potatoes, refried beans with some cheese never hurt my stomach. Plain old Campbell's Tomato Soup is still in my rotation, and I am 5 months out. Egs, prepared any way, even hard boiled, as those can be chewed down. Sometimes I eat something I shouldn't, and it lets me know, and I retreat back to these old standbys. You'll find your faves....

They call it "food avoidance" - I call it "feeling like I have to yak all day." Go up to the search function here on the boards, and type in nausea. You will find my posts (and plenty of others) about it. I am 5 months PO, and on anti-nausea meds. Ask your doc for some.

4 days post op and feeling so sick
oldandtired replied to 3TAforumgastric's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you have nausea, and no meds, ask for them. If you have meds, and they are not doing the trick, TELL THE DOC. Frequently, the dose you start on is the lowest dose, and they will usually up it. Be vocal. -
I need help... Everything makes me sick
oldandtired replied to Cara_luvnlite's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm 5 months PO, and still deal with nausea every day. My doc said it has to do with the same hormone that makes you nauseous when you are pregnant. It hurts even when I drink water. I am forceful when dealing with docs, as I have had... things... happen to family members in the past. I requested an anti-nausea med, and when that didn't help enough, I requested another. I am on two different scripts for it. I asked him if it was maybe a stricture, and he dismissed that. (That is ME, I don't know about YOU) Anyway, no one cares about you more than you do, so go to him, or your primary, and be forceful.) If they blow you off, find another doc that will listen. There is NO reason you should suffer. -
Same here. Sometimes. Getting better, overall, but hoo boy, those times when it hits. It's the processed sugar. I LOVE sweet southern tea, and can't have it anymore...

That is probably just nerves. Every one of us was at a minimum apprehensive about it. Think about anything you have done that was difficult, and said, afterwards, oh, that wasn't all that bad. Think about 3 months from now, when you will see results! I personally subscribe to Scarlett O'Hara's thinking--I'll worry about that later, and find something to distract yourself. Don't let the heebie jeebies win!

Has anyone else...
oldandtired replied to SlimmingLanie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
But there are hoops to jump through. Dietician appointments, a psych appointment (which is pretty useless, as you would have to be an idiot to not see where they are going with their questions.) 6 visits with your primary, one a month. If the place he is going is anything like mine, they give you step by step instructions, and the forms, etc. -
Nerves and am I choosing right?
oldandtired replied to mrsjo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are overthinking, and will worry yourself into the ground. I chose the mini bypass, no regrets yet. Advice? Ask your doc, or your primary and ask them their honest opinion. -
Normal stall? Advice needed please
oldandtired replied to Lou51's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You may be dehydrated due to the poops, and feeling what you take to be hunger pains. Try drinking more--but I am not a doc. Push up that appt. with the gastro doc... -
Has anyone else...
oldandtired replied to SlimmingLanie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have both Medicare and Tricare. Yes, it took 6 months, but I have not been billed a penny. -
Search the keyword nausea for these forums. There are a lot of people (Like me) who are on anti-nausea meds. He said it's a hormone that does that. I am on TWO different drugs-one was suppositories 😳-and I made him change THAT. Without the meds, it is a constant state of nausea. He said it would get better--BUT there is no reason to SUFFER til you do! BE vocal! If he won't help, go back to your primary, or a gastrointestinal doctor. THEY work for YOU.

I thought I may have been the only one that imagines a petulant, tantrum throwing child. My "child" is more of a baby, who sleeps (when things are going well), then can be that baby who is about to wake up in a bad mood, twisting and turning and frowning (usually if I have eaten a little too much) then once in a while, the devil personified....

Sometimes the truth hurts

I have always been blunt...so Team Tony -
I am at work, so didn't have too much time, but after reading some stuff about the freezing temp of it and why your nose runs....🤢 I decided another time....

Of course, NOW that makes me have to look it up--- 😂😂

I am 3 1/2 months out, and have struggled with nausea/queasiness every day. They say it will get better, but not yet. There ARE meds-ask your doctor! I am on two different ones, and after a couple of months, started taking more of them than prescribed--after looking them up and finding out his dosage was on the low end, and I was not going to poison myself. Call your doc-and be VOCAL!

Do you ever "forget" you had surgery?
oldandtired replied to lizonaplane's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Might be just the way your vitamin is formulated. Try another brand? LOL my doc said Flintstones twice a day, and that's what I do..for now... -

Surgery midweek-eek and yay-big change at older age
oldandtired replied to Whats Next's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You know, I'm almost 4 months post-op. I have yet to have hair loss... Pain--and I have had a few surgeries in my lifetime--is not that bad. They will probably give you a few pain pills. Use them. After the first few days, you should start to feel better. I have had nausea--but figured a way to cope with that. Just bought some new clothes this past weekend, in a smaller size--nothing feels better than that, lol! -
Weight loss/increase 2 weeks post-op?
oldandtired replied to Vivis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 4 months post-op, (I put the wrong date for my surgery, and can't seem to find how to change it) and the only thing I can say is that there is NO NORMAL. It will come off. Your body is still in "shock." Don't get discouraged.
