  1. today is my due date and I am 50% effaced and dialated to a 1 with a soft cervix.. truely hoping this baby comes soon!
  2. oh.. I lost 33lbs with the band before I got pregnant thats what that meant.. I have gained about 38lbs this time around.. and I am so thankful to have the band to help me when I am all done.. I will probably do weight watchers at first before getting tightened again becasue I am BF and I want to make sure before I start messing with the band that I have a good milk supply going.. and then I will get tightened.. also I am self pay and my year of covered fills was put on hold when I got PG so I only have 6 months of covered fills left.. so I want to make sure when I get my first one I am ready to start using my 6 months! I think I gained more in the beginning this time just because I went from eating bandster style.. (1/2 cup) to eating more at one time.. so just the natural influx of taking in those extra calories my body wanted to store them at first.. then it started to slow way down.. so most of it I gained near the beginning to middle. with my first I was so sick.. I threw up every day for 7 months so eating did help and so did ginger altoids.. I sucked on them all day long with this one.. I cant even touch ginger.. I guess its association with being sick last time.. this time around salty things and sour things helped me.. so a small amount of a salty snack would curb the nausea and I would water down lemonade... like 1/3 lemonade 2/3 water in a huge glass and that helped too.. however I also took nausea medication this time around that wasnt available as a generic with my first.. so that really helped. I would use that on my really bad days or when I had to really function. but mostly eating a small high protein snack every 2 hrs or so really helps. If you over eat or dont eat cause you feel sick.. youll feel worse. hope that helps!
  3. Newlife.. Congrats on the pregnancy! just hang in there with the gaining thing.. try to eat healthy and eat small frequent meals and dont watch the scale to closely. pregnancy brings on all sorts of weight gains without rhyme or reason so if you keep track of the scale you may get really frusterated.. theres water weight, doubling of your blood supply, added fat that you body uses to balance your growing tummy.. and lets not forget the placenta, baby and aminotic fluid!! having something in my stomach was the trick for me too.. if i even got close to being done digesting I would turn green!! try to eat high protein things that take longer to digest.. carbs will go right through you and youll have to eat again sooner.. with both my pregnancies I ate a lot of lean cusine type things.. portion controlled and helped me stay full. Obviously you have to eat what you feel like eating too.. meat was hard for me the first 4 months so I ate peanut butter, beans and granola. good luck!! and remember every pregnancy is different!!
  4. They are measuring your fundis height (the top of your uterus) its not that big of deal.. and it doesnt really say anything about when the baby is coming. Some women have a jump in fundal height at like 30-34 wks.. and some women just grow slowly and consistantly.. I always had a burst of growth and then it slowed down.. it all depends on how your baby grows and they are all different  sometime a high fundal height can tell the size of the baby.. like if your child will be large or small.. sometimes it can just be how you carry (high or low) and sometimes it can alert the doctor that their is too much amniotic fluid.. but that is usually not the case  hope that helps.. I am still sitting here PREGNANT and trying to be paitent..

I found this interesting.. especially the part about not seeing results.. I am definitely guilty of over doing the cardio and doing nothing else "Ma'am, step away from the treadmill!" - 4 Indications you're doing too much cardio - Healthy Living on Shine
  6. YES I am so ready. I have been having menstrual like cramps so I know somethings happening.. but who knows. I will keep you posted!! Hang in there.. I felt the same way past 32 wks.
  7. I was 6 months into the band when we got preggos with number #2.. We were not trying persay.. but we were stopping it either  anyhow.. I had just gotten a fill and I normally lose like 1-2 lbs in the day after the fill and I gained 6!! I was like something is wrong.. so I took a pregnancy test like a week later on a suspicion because I had been having some pain in my ovary area and we were pregnant! you're weight gain and band tightness could be hormonal from your body ovulating.. since its like a week after your period. but you never know. I just know this time that I knew so much sooner because had I not been watching my weight I might have not picked up on it. as it was I knew 7 days before my missed period.
  8. Hey Renee, Hang in there! ya the end is the worst! although I am tired and really want to meet my little one. chasing my 2 year old gives me a feeling that its ok if the baby stays in a little longer! :bored: I cant imagine having both! Also I am starting to get nervous about labor.. not necessarily labor itself.. but being exhausted when labor starts! I have my 36 week appointment tomorrow and I know my midwives are wanting me to do acupucture at 37weeks to get my body going on this labor thing :smile2: I am trying for a vaginal after cesarian so they want me to have my best fighting chance of going into labor since I cant be induced.. it freaks me out that it could even be sooner than 40wks!! anyways. I will try to post pictures.. you'll have plenty to do at the hospital for 3 days.. like sleep and goo over your little man!!

    July Butterflies Master Thread

Hey all.. just saying hi.. I still check in with this thread even though my weightloss is on hold. I have about 4 1/2 weeks to go and I feel about as big now as I did with my first right before I had her.. (I guess thats true with the second) anyhow.. I am anxious to get going with the weightloss again.. I probably will start out about where I started when I got the band (weightwise) but thats ok.. the great news is that the band is there!! I have heard that a lot of bandsters do well on Weightwatchers.. so after the baby I am planning on BF so I will do weightwatchers until I am able to get a fill... just so I make sure I am getting enough calories for BF and losing.. I dont want to just sit here and wait.. I want something to tell me how much to eat so I dont overeat thinking I need the extra calories for BF I just want to encourage you all.. plateaus are so normal in weightloss.. ask anyone who has tried to loose a large amount of weight.. banded or not.. your body kinda settles into a size and it just takes serious long consistancy to get over the plateau.. I know tons of friends who are always trying to lose 20-30lbs and they struggle so much.. a particular friend talks about it every time I see her.. but if you ask a trainer or anyone who has done it.. it just takes consistancy over time and you will succeed.. may I suggest getting a personal trainer?? places like the YMCA have them pretty inexpensive.. its just that person who will push you where you wouldnt be willing or able to go on your own.. its interesting.. they always say.. just when we think we cant go on any further.. its about 1/3 of what we are capable of!! crazy... anyhow.. thinking and praying for you guys.. cant wait to join up with you all again even though you are ages ahead of me!
  12. thanks Heather.. I didnt think I remembered this with my first pregnancy.. but we forget.. and thats why we do it again its probably just my abs being sore.. which is possibly from them being kicked so hard are you feeling better??
  13. Heather.. I am glad you're feeling better. hang in there! I have a question to everyone who has been or is PG with the band and is near the end. I am 34 weeks and I am really sore at the top of my abs where my port is.. not necessarily the port itself or just the area around the port.. but more like the top section of my abs.. it doesnt hurt persay.. just sore and uncomfy.. especially when my little one decides to stretch out and put his/her feet in my ribs. anyone else notice this??
  14. Wow Heather.. I am so sorry.. that is my worst fear! I am so sorry that you have had to go through this. Its so bothersome that you are told things by your dr that may not even be true.. like its safe to throw up if the band is opened. I have had bad problems with gas being trapped below my band and its painful at times.. I have gone to the drs and they just scratch their heads.. I am so thankful for the band but its interesting to find out after the fact that the things they say shouldnt happen do. i lost 30 lbs and have gained 29lb so far with this pregnancy and I would do the band all over again with the risks and all.. its far better than being trapped! I am praying for a speedy recovery for you. You will lose all that Water weight and your baby will just be one blessing after another! I promise. Children are so much fun to watch grow. please keep us posted on your progress! youre a champ!!
  15. Hey Heather.. I have heard that hormone levels can make the band tighter even when there is no fill.. and after having a baby I know it takes a couple of months for your hormones to balance out.. especially if you are breast feeding.. so it could just be that.. (one of the nurses at my LB center.. had a daughter with the same issue.. so she didnt get a fill for like 6 months after.. so she warned me about feeling tight near the end of my PG and after) also there is supposed to be no risk of the band slipping if you throw up when the band is deflated. that is why I had all my fill taken out with this pregnancy. because I threw up every day with my first.. I was told by my doctors that I didnt have to worry and that it was safe to throw up. I have noticed that after I threw up that the bad was tighter.. but I think that is because my stomach was irritated from throwing up. I have noticed all thru this pregnancy that even with no fill sometimes I am tight and sometimes I have no problems at all.. breads and dry meats have continued to be a problem.. not that I PB'd I havent done that.. but that they were just hard or slightly uncomfortable going down.. I also didnt get a fill for months after my LB surgery because I was tight with no fill.. sO I think there are lots of variables.. keep us posted.. I am really interested to know if you slipped.. I hope that all is well and its just something that will go away.
  16. I was terribly sick with my first and that was pre-band.. so when I got Preg again I just had it all removed.. I am glad I did.. I probably have gained a little more weight than I would have with some fill.. but I also dont worry if I am getting enough for the baby or if I am going to cause slippage from throwing up.. so for me I just got a complete unfill.. and because I am self pay.. the remainder of my free year of fills went on hold till after the baby when I decided to fill again.. I hope you feel better
  17. Im so sorry your frustrated.. its so hard when your frustrated to hear people to tell you to be patient. my first was 17 days late.. I thought I might go crazy!! and all the unwanted advice was just the real kicker!! people told me crazy things like eat hotdogs!!!! Just a little encouragement though.. and I tell myself this all the time.. the best thing about pregnancy is your days are numbered.. meaning that baby is going to come out one way or another and I have never met a woman who was pregnant for 11 months!!! The other good news is although you feel like you are going through all this crap and discomfort for nothing.. its not for nothing... your body is getting ready for a huge thing.. and some bodies take their sweet time especially with the first.. BUT the body is warming up.. its doing something.. even though you dont see or feel the results.. be encouraged,. you will be holding a sweet baby in no time..
  18. Crystal, HI! sorry you had a rough start. I was pretty sick too. I think its kinda a personal choice.. I was very sick with my first and decided from the start of this pregnancy that I would empty the band and just focus on the pregnancy and not so much on the weight loss.. I just didnt want to spend 9 months obsessing about how much weight I was gaining and if the baby was getting enough nutrients. So I just do my best to eat healthy and be healthy.. and I decided my weightloss journey was on hold until this baby is born,.. the band is there for me when Im done. :crying: thats why I went the adjustable route. some people go through pregnancy with a fill and do just fine.. so its really what you feel is right for you and your baby. I can tell you that I susposedly have all my fill out and there are times where i am still feeling restriction. maybe its hormonal.. Well good luck!
  19. I kinda know how you are feeling.. but I also have learned now is not the time to be concerned about losing weight.. I gained quite a bit in the beginning because I went from being tight and banded and then to eating what I wanted.. I think its just the normal flux from the jump in calories.. and now I am eating pretty well.. trying to behave, but also following some of my cravings because I know its the body's way to tell us that the baby needs something. (with in reason ) I am up about 24 pounds and I am at 27 almost 28 weeks.. I guess i just changed my mindset to eating the healthiest I can and not freaking out about gaining weight.. one because I am SUPPOSED to gain right now and 2 because the band is there for me when I am all done. I guess what I am trying to say is.. I know its hard to go from focusing really hard on weightloss and losing to.. completely putting it on hold and feeling like you are reversing all your hard work.. but remember.. this is why we got the band... so we could get pregnant.. and have healthy pregnancies and then have the band waiting there for us when we are all done.. try to focus on the baby and being healthy.. and not so much about the scale.. most OB's tell women not to even look at the scale because your body is doing what it needs to do... remember that a lot of your wieght is baby, placenta, water, double the blood supply and extra muscle that your body gets to help you carry the growing baby. we will all get there!! and have cute little babies to show for our extra pudge.. being that this is my second I can tell you its all worth it.. I lost all my pregnancy weight with the first.. just in time to get pregnant with the second :crying: and I would do it all again!!

I would skip on the Gastric Bypass.. my parents both had it and they get sick almost everyday and after their intial loss they are gaining weight back.. adjustable, although a pain in the bootie gives you more options,, if you get the GB and stretch out.. your options are gone.. I think they really wish they would have known about the band,, although I kind of doubt my dad could have been successful with the band.. he doesnt have the discipline. I have a friend who had the band taken out and got the sleeve.. she seems to be doing fine. but she already lost all her weight with the band before she got the sleeve..
  21. Has anyone breastfed in the process of getting the band? my daughter is 10 months old and a great eater, so its not imparative that I continue but I would like to finish the last 2 months out like the American Academy of Peds suggests.. Heres my issue.. for the 2 week pre-op diet I was allowed to be on a diet of regular foods, low carb 1600 cal. becuase all the breast feeding studies say not to drop below that. then today (3 days before my surgery) my Nutritionist said she wants me to do liquids for 2 days before (I know nice warning!) I know its susposed to be low-carb but the low carb liquid diet I have has only 800 cal. you can see my delimma.. does anyone know how much Protein we can ingest in a day? because I am gonna have to have protein if I cant have carbs. any suggestions for good liquid cals? second.. I have to do clear liquid for 4 days after and I got Isopure and boost breeze for that but even if I drink 4 boosts, and 1 isopure with 40g protien I am still only at 1000-1200... ahhhhh I am stressed out!! I cant wait to be 5 days post-op! and hopefully my milk supply wont dry up by then!! (ps I have pumped a small storage of milk for the 24 hrs post op.. have to pump and dump 24hrs after.. the anesth says 72 hrs.. but I know he is just being very conservative)
  22. I use this... its not too bad.. you can also mix it in juice.. but i find it better just to take the teaspoon or whatever it is.. PreNatal Plus DHA Complete by Buried Treasure :bored:

I'm still around though I am on hold.. I have been checking in once and awhile though to see how you all are doing.. I am anxious to get going again once I have this baby.. it will almost be a half a year before I get back into it though. But congrats everyone on your weightloss!! keep it up!
  24. Well I am glad you are feeling better.. and thanks for the tip about waiting.. I think you are right.. its good to establish the milk supply first before looking at getting fills. hang in there and its good to hear you are still BF so many people get scared away by stuff like this.. so you are definately a strong woman for sticking with it! I also just noticed you are from Perth.. my Hubby and I are thinking of going to a school there with Youth with A Mission.. are you familiar with them? its definately a few more years off..but its a definate possibility.
