    March 2022 Surgery Buddies

Well, tomorrow is the big day for me. I have a showtime of 0530. Today, I am only drinking my shakes and my water and I am feeling good. I'm just finishing up getting the house (wasn't expecting this word to be a curse word) and span, laundry done, meals prepped for hubs, and everything ready for when I come home. Tonight we will drive to Ann Arbor and stay at the Holiday Inn so that we don't have any issues in the morning. Let the games begin!

I love you for this reply! Thank you for telling me it is water weight, it probably is. I haven't had a good bm since then either. I am pushing fluids today and I have lemons at home that I will add tonight. Good luck on your diet, you can do it. I had cut out caffeine 2 weeks prior and sugar one week prior and I do believe that helped me to adjust without headaches or pain. Cheers to being in the 5'11 club!! We're gonna rock these healthy bodies in due time.

So, I cheated on my 2 week liquid diet on Saturday and now the scale is back up 4lbs that didn't drop after going back to the diet full force Sunday. My advice, don't go off it. I only had a bowl of egg drop soup and a salad at PF Changs and here I am regretting it. In my opinion, it is not worth it to go off the 2 week diet - because it feels really good to see the scale moving down ( I was going down 2 solid lbs. a day before). This diet is totally doable. Best of luck to everyone!

Today is my third day and your comment really hit home. I am starving today! Grilling eggplant with the hopes that helps ( I doubt it...)

You are not alone and you are not crazy! I can relate with you about the food not tasting as good as my mind told me it was going to be. I had been experiencing similar affects in the weeks prior, I ordered Wendy's chicken nuggets and they just tasted like cardboard to me (minus the honey mustard). I had a similar experience with other foods, a lemon shortcake that made my mouth feel like it was just coated in shortening - which I was happy to experience because that had previously been one of my favorites. So have you started your 2-week diet yet? How's it going? I'm on day 3 and I feel good. I was successful in cutting out caffeine and sugar(for the most part) out prior to this start. I'm having some cravings - but only when I see food, smell food, or see a commercial with food - to which I just look away and try to ignore it. I am losing about 2lbs each day, so that is encouraging! All the Best

I just went and got my little surgery book. Looks like I can have 2 pieces of fruit a day and then an 'optional' 1 bread or 1 dairy - the examples of this are 1 slice of bread, 1/2 cup cooked whole grain (I had oatmeal this morning), 1/2 cup low-fat cottage cheese, yogurt, 8oz milk, OR 1 oz low fat cheese. The little books says I can mix 2 tablespoons sugar free pudding mix to my shakes. So far I'm totally fine. I thought about food when leaving work to run home (forgot my mixer for the shakes) but other than that so far so good. I'm ready to stop feeling powerless. I'm ready to like myself again.
  9. Hi. So sorry you are struggling. Maybe try medical marijuana - sounds like you should qualify with your pain. It helps me with PTSD and depression. But it can bring on hunger, so there is that... I find that it is difficult to abuse an edible - as far as vice transfer goes.

Hii Toomany#'s! We are surgery buddies!! My two week diet started today and my surgery is on the 8th as well. My pro-op diet consists of four 8oz protein shakes a day, unlimited veggies (there is a list), one dairy a day, one fruit, and 64oz of water. What does your surgeon have you doing? I'm excited and nervous, too! I just pray these days fly-by. How are you feeling otherwise?

    March 2022 Surgery Buddies

Tomorrow I start my 2 week diet and I was having some major anxiety and urges to eat junk in a last ditch effort to qualm my cravings? I'm not sure what to call it. I hadn't been craving the stuff before I got to the weekend - I felt like I just wanted to binge on everything and anything delicious. Anyone else experience something similar?

Hi! The binder is like shape wear only it is thicker and has large strips of velcro to hold it tight. It's a white surgical garment - for medical use.

You guys, I am getting so close to my 2 week diet and I am so excited about it. 2 weeks ago I cut out coffee, this week I cut out sugar and so far I have been feeling pretty good. I'm confident that starting my two week diet on the 22nd will be a fairly easy transition on the home stretch to this goal. I need to lose weight ( I gained 120lbs. since November 2019). I was active duty Air Force for 15 years before and this weight has been accompanied with a lot of stress. We lost our baby at 25 weeks in August 2020 - my ultimate reason for this procedure is fertility. I really hope to be pregnant as a result of all this .. and be a super cute mom who can't teach her kids the same bad habits that I picked up by default.

Yay!! I'm so excited too .. but I'm only nervous that COVID will delay it again. I NEED to get this surgery done and over with so I can get on with my life! What about it makes you the most nervous?

I have been stalking the COVID hospitalization rates in my area every single day, multiple times a day - obsessively - looking for rates to be going down... and it looks like they are. I am starting to feel somewhat confident that my surgery will happen on March 8th. Fingers crossed! Congrats to everyone else who received a surgery date in March after a cancelation due to COVID!

Test yourself for COVID - and/or just hang in there. I would go to the hospital if your energy doesn't improve by today or tomorrow. Good luck!

I spoke with my doctor's team yesterday ... the nurse said she had just been thinking about me ... she said the VA is canceling bariatric surgery again ( I was originally scheduled Jan4) but she is hopeful that my date of March 8 will be fine. Time will tell. 😏
