Susie Girl 75 replied to hersheymalone's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tea is fine. I was drinking sf iced tea the night before... -
I have ALWAYS had chronic heartburn. I would sometimes get it everyday, having the band hasn't helped... that's for sure. I tried the two weeks of Prilosec OTC and it helped, for about a month and now I'M back to the same old b/s... My triggers are coffee, garlic, chocolate and anything with acid like orange juice or lemonade. Heartburn sucks! I hope the meds the doc gave you will help!

Clumping....omg it hurts
Susie Girl 75 replied to MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've never heard it being referred to as 'clumping' before... I've heard that you just get 'stuck'... ??? -
I disagree with you gadgetlady. I see nothing wrong with a light tap on the bottom for an out of control, tantrum throwing 5 year old. I am NOT talking about hitting or beating. I agree that is abuse and is absolutely sick and wrong. Parents that do that need serious help and should be reported to the police. I'm talking about constructive discipline and not letting your 4 year old run the show. You are correct when you say the problem with some parents these days is lack the follow through. I've seen children acting up, rather loudly in the grocery stores and the mothers don't lift a finger to take control of the situation. I think parents today are too worried about hurting their childrens feelings and they concern themselves with being their childs friend instead of being a parent. Kids need and thrive on structure and discipline... I think parents today are concerned about not hurting feelings. It's just not right. Again, that's just my opinion!

Just a crazy food question
Susie Girl 75 replied to Jillbeme65's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try the Fiber One Carmel Delight. It's super high in fiber and as you know, things highest in fiber will keep you full longer. It tastes good too! It has like 9 grams of fiber per serving. Just be sure to watch your carb count the rest of the day is all!!! :crying: -
weight gain because of surgery
Susie Girl 75 replied to chicamam1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
that's totally normal. It's from the swelling and the fluid... not to mention they blow up your belly with gas to make room for for the surgery... You will see the difference in a week or so. -
Things To Have On Hand Post-Op??
Susie Girl 75 replied to jetsy62's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
GasX Strips and lots of sugar free liquids... sf popcicles also saved my life the first two weeks. LET THE PUPPIES FLY FREE! -
8 fills to me would an unacceptable amount. I would have researched fill doctors in your area and gone to see somebody else. I have had 3 fills and that was frustrating enough. I couldn't imagine going through that 5 more times and STILL not feeling the proper restriction... I would do your homework and try to find a new doctor, but that's just my opinion.

Feeling Nauseous
Susie Girl 75 replied to healthysue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had zero restriction until after my 3rd fill, so no worries! I was still able to eat as much as I wanted and whatever I wanted until then, so it's totally normal. As far as being nauseous, I'm not quite sure about that. You might want to mention that to you Doc when you see him today. -
how long
Susie Girl 75 replied to MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had three adjusments and FINALLY now feel like I have restriction. I'm actully debating weather or not I want to go just a smidge tighter. I'm going to give it another week and see how much I've lost total over the past three weeks and then decide. My doc makes you wait a week before having anoter fill. He's pretty good about making sure that everyone has proper restriction. he's not all about playing the waiting game! -
Obama has my vote.

Correct restriction or not?? Please help me...
Susie Girl 75 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Everyone! I need some help... I had my third fill last week. I wish I could tell you how many cc's I have by my doctor wont tell me that. When I ask, he tells me 'enough' ... ok, fine... so he doesn't want me getting hung up on a number... I understand that totally. So, here's my situation. I can eat everything except for bread and bagels... I start to pb and get stuck, etc... you know the drill. But on most all other foods like chicken breat, veggies, (whole wheat) Pasta, etc...I do chew well and I have noticed that I am eating slower than I used to!!! The thing that has me worried is taht I can eat more than just a few bites. Not that much more, but more than the suggested 1/2 cup at a time... I find that it keeps me full for hours after and I am not hungry first thing in the morning like I used to be. I have also noticed I don't realy have a desire to snack inbetween meals, which is good... I guess I know that it's working, to a point but with the amount I can still eat, even though it's all healthy stuff... does that mean that I maybe need a slight fill still??? Can the veterans help out the newbie??? Thanks, Chi-Town Susie Girl -
Lose Over 100 lbs.
Susie Girl 75 replied to jetsy62's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jetsy, I think that you have the right idea. I too have around 100 pounds to loose, maybe a little less depending on how I feel when I get to where I want to be!!! You're right, don't go by a number. Go by how you feel, and what your energy level is and how great those new small size clothes are fitting!!! :rolleyes2: -
Lost my carving for carbs have you?
Susie Girl 75 replied to Renob's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have never lost the craving for carbs, but after my third adjustment last week thursday, I have discovered that they get stuck, and I PB and slime, etc... it's not a pretty picture. I tried once with a WW bagel and the other was piece of whole grain toast. Both had the same horrible effect. So, in my head I want them because I used to be able to eat them in mass quantities, but now that I know I will get sick if I eat them, the desire fades and I'm good with that. I'm happy that I can't have that anymore... they were my downfall!!! -
I saw the same commercial and I also thought they were joking. I thought it was something out of the onion newspaper! I have to go check out this website now.

I did quit smoking two weeks prior to surgery per my doc's request. Somehting about sucking air in, like with a straw... I think that will worsen the gas pain you experience after surgery. I did quit for a whole month after surgery but have since cheated here and there! Shhhh.... don't tell my darling fiancee! I am finding my food addiction much easier to stop. The cigs are a killer!!! I will keep trying though! it's so unhealty!

I met with my dietician, I have a ?
Susie Girl 75 replied to Mommy07's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No LoveAngel, you're not alone. My doc recomened the Unjory shakes, but tha was only for my pre-op diet. He said you need to drink shakes for Protein once you're back on regurlar food... I guess every doc is different... -
Wow, cant we just let it go? How long has this post been on going? I have never seen so many grown adult women beat a dead horse like this. She didn't say anything to be mean or malicious and she has since apologized for it. No reason to crucify the poor girl. She mad a mistake and said she was sorry. Can't we forgive her and move on??

Jen, You and I are in similar places in our lives and it looks like were both in Chicago. I too have a brother that was/is and addict and I have been dealing with that for over 10 years now and it's not a easy road. Although I haven't lost the amout of weight you did (I was only banded this past july), I think we might have more in common than you think. Feel free to pm me, I'd love to talk more with you off line.

Keep up the good work and keep on dancin!!!

Hi Everyone! I just had to write a quick note to let everybody know that I have had my third fill and I FINALLY have proper restriction!!! It's a new feeling for me but I'm feeling better about the whole process now. Before I had this restriction, I was feeling sort of discouraged. I am feeling so great about my band now, I just had to share! I never thought I would be happy to PB, but when I did this mornig I was like 'whoa, so this is what everybody is talking about' HAHAHA! :tongue2: P.S. I learned the hard way this mornig that WW bagels wont work with the band... Thanks for listening! Chi Town Susie Girl!

Well said Kellster! People sure are sensitive, aren't they? I didn't find what you said one bit offensive. I think it's a part of your Kell-ism's, just like I have Suz-ism's!!!! I can tell that you didn't mean anything by it, so no worries.
