  1. I actually eat whatever I can and drink whatever I can just to get my caloric target. So I have no guilt surrounding drinking a really sweet Starbucks drink loaded with whipped cream. But even all those sugary foods and junk food and also protein and carbs, my weight is still going down that I dont even want to exercise because my muscle mass is so low now I'm scared Tell me it gets better and I can eat better later on. I really want to put on weight now and go back to the gym and tone my body.
  2. So how long does it take you to eat a sandwich for instance? Bread surprisingly digests faster and I can eat it faster. My staple diet is rice since I'm asian and let me tell you a cup of rice takes at least an hour to finish with a chicken thigh. I dont even try to eat pasta because after half an hour it tastes horrible at least rice can be reheated and tastes better after being reheat. I've cried and broken down multiple times because of how skinny I am and the comments from people around me really take a toll on my mental health. Whenever I'm stressed I also don't feel like eating because it's a hassle. Has everyone's appetite stayed the same or has it decreased like mine?
  3. I am 8 months post surgery and have hit my ideal weight. But I still can't eat like a normal person. 2 spoons of anything and I feel full. I have to wait another 15 minutes to eat another 2 spoons. I'm losing more weight than expected and I'm worried that I might be underweight soon. I don't wish to eat like I did pre-surgery but I do wish I can eat at least half the portion I used to eat at half the time. A normal portion of food takes me an hour or two to finish. I'm worried that I'll be malnourished and losing a lot of hair because of it. I've seen that some people have gained back some weight after a year into their surgery. I just want to eat like a normal person again. Sort of regret getting the surgery because I did not anticipate the depression that comes with not being able to eat and the muscle loss I've experienced. Can anyone share their experience 1 year post surgery? I need to know if I can eat normally again. 2 3 bites of food and then being full and not wanting to eat anymore is torture and unhealthy for my body.

Do you try to finish it later or…

I'm on my 4th week and I take 2 bites of whatever I'm having and stop for like 10 minutes or until I dont feel like my stomach is going to burst, and then I keep going. For example I cooked 2 scrambled eggs with tomatoes at about 4PM and now it's 8PM and I still haven't been able to finish it. I hate wasting food so I try to finish whatever I cook even if it takes a really long time because if I dont get enough proteins, I'll lose my muscle mass and the weight loss rate decreases because your body thinks you're starving yourself. It's soooooo annoying not to be able to finish my food in one go especially when it's so little, like not even a quarter of what I had pre-op. But I'm just thankful if I can finish my food, no matter how long it takes and keep the food down without throwing up. Do you guys still have to do this even months after the surgery? I'd like to be able to eat normally although not as much as my pre op days.
  5. For you it's already more than 6 months and you still feel full after 1 mouthful? That seriously sounds like torture T___T Have you gotten used to it? What about the discomfort and heartburn and tummy grumbles? Does that still happen to you?
  6. Hi Maisey! I'm still on liquid/pureed phase so not sure how to chew haha Do you know how long is it swollen for? Like on average? How long until you were able to eat comfortably?
  7. I realized that since today I've only had soups and a very runny egg and I haven't felt like throwing up. But my chest still feels tight and there's a slight discomfort in my lower left chest and also tons of tummy grumbles. Are the tummy grumbles normal and when does that disappear? Or do I have to expect that this is a long term discomfort?
  8. I'm 1 week post op and based on what I've read, the first 2 weeks is liquid stage. My surgeon has a very different 4 phase plan and by day 7 I can start eating soft foods. Runny scrambled egg is fine and cream of mushroom soup or chicken soup goes down fine. What I'm worried about is when I do eat, I get full in like 1 bite. I'm so traumatized by the experience that I dont feel like eating because I'm afraid of the tightness in my chest whenever I do eat and the nauseous feeling I get. I know it's only the beginning for me but I've read on here that even months after the surgery, the amount of food you can eat is very limited and that sounds depressing. And between meals, sometimes I get chest discomfort and my stomach grumbles and I have no idea how to combat that or get rid of it. Please tell me this gets better because I can't imagine going my whole life not being able to enjoy food properly. I'm hoping that I don't go back to my pre-op eating habits that can scarf down 2 bowls of instant noodles but I'd imagine that my new normal would at least be able to eat half a serving. I'm eating 1 egg and I already feel full. Need some motivation and some of your stories. When you started out eating soft foods, how many ounces could you eat in a serving? I'm worried I'm not going to get proper amount of nutrition because of this.
  9. It's been 1 week post op and I'm having buyers remorse since I'm in discomfort all the time. Drinking water is fine and I dont have to take minute sips. But the tummy rumbles when I'm not eating and the tight feeling in the chest as if I've had a huge meal. When does this get better? Also, it's getting really depressing not being able to eat properly. I thought that for the first few days it'll be uncomfortable and of course it's getting a lot better. But the tightness in the chest wont go away and it's a nuisance. And having like 1 bite and feeling full and having to wait for the feeling to go away until I can have another bite, it's torturous. I dont want to eat like I did pre-op, but I'm terrified of not being able to enjoy food like I used to. At least half a meal. Does it get better and when usually can you eat like a normal person?
