    4 days post op

For anyone wondering about recovery, some thoughts from me while they are fresh in my head… The first 48 hours were pretty rough. I wasn’t in any real pain from the incisions (laparoscopic VSG, outpatient) but I had horrible pains and pressure from the CO2. I also had very painful gas bubbles in my stomach whenever I drank. It felt like a bad hunger pang. It was also very uncomfortable to be reclined so sleeping was hard. My surgery was on Thursday, it’s now Monday and I feel much more like myself. I’m going to try to work at my desk (at home) tomorrow and feel like I should be able to get a full day in.
  2. Why are all commercials for food? I’m sitting here struggling to remind myself to sip Gatorade but my brain still suspects it wants an entire footlong sub.
  3. I’m only 3 days post surgery but this was the most disheartening thing for me too. Horrible, bubbling hunger pangs. The way it was explained to me is that your sleeve is swollen and very narrow. Now imagine pouring liquid into a funnel. It’ll bubble down and displace gas. Those bubbles hurt and feel like your tummy is growling. Anyway, that’s what I’m hoping is true because it feels so horrible and is stopping me sleeping for more than an hour or so at a time.
