    June Surgeries

I get what you are saying albeit a little condescending. Unlike most people who are obese, I am quite healthy. I have normal glucose, blood pressure and cholesterol. I exercise very regularly and get around seamlessly. My sole focus is getting the weight off. I am sure that will bring me long term health improvements but right now, it is the weight that is of concern. I am sure there are others like me out there as well.

The advice to not weight every day is MUCH easier said than done. The whole focus of our lives right now is weight loss, so not checking weight is worse than being hungry and sitting in front of a hot cheesy delicious pizza and not atleast smelling it and thinking about a slice.....not going to happen and you have to give in and weigh yourself.

Stalled? It says you lost over 50 pounds. Think about it....2-3 pounds a week will give you 8-12 a month which will give you 96-108 in a year. You are fine.

Maybe get more protein in the form of shakes or liquid? I see that has worked for some to break the stalls.

    Update On Me (Surgery: 5/19/21)

Great point. I am scheduled for surgery in a few week and I am wondering the same thing. I guess my expectation was that the weight will be much more rapid although my brain tells me that is unrealistic. The weight went on pretty slowly over a long period of time so 10-15 pounds a month is pretty damned good. That mean over 100 pounds in a year.

    Update On Me (Surgery: 5/19/21)

This is good advice. I was watching Youtube videos last week from a guy called Dr Vuong. He is pretty eccentric and out there but his stuff does ring true. He mentioned what he called "chasing your sleeve" meaning that you should not test it....or eat up to the restriction then eat a little bit more. He explains how doing this will change your restriction and allow you to eat more.

    Update On Me (Surgery: 5/19/21)

Very helpful. I was not aware that the restriction is delayed. I think that will put me at ease for the first 3 weeks if I do not experience a quckly full stomach. Such good information I am gathering on this forum.

Great detail. Thanks for that. My surgery is in a few weeks and I am gathering as much information as possible so I know what to expect. Good luck!

    May Surgeries - check in!

You say initial goal weight. I have been wondering if I should create a goal that was closer to achieve then reset the goal or just have the end goal in mind. Not sure what works best for most people. I would be interested to hear what people are saying on this.

    May Surgeries - check in!

This post is very encouraging to me. You have very similar height and weight characteristics to me so I am motivated by your progress. I have not been down below 210 in over 20 years as well and am encouraged. My surgery is on 8/31. good luck and keep it up.

    Please Help, Advice Needed!

If you are drinking your water, sticking to the food program and walking then you should come out of the stall just fine. Don't panic day to day.

    Question need answering Help Please

I think you need to log all your food and limit your calorie intake along with getting more active. I think we all know at this point that it is either too much food, not enough exercise or both.

    Alcohol 😳

Not a very encouraging thought.....I certainly want to have some drinks but not at the expense of blacking out....thanks for sharing.

    Alcohol 😳

So another benefit for the wait loss surgery. I will be able to have just one drink and feel the affects without spending more money on booze. Bonus!

    Thinking about Lap Band surgery

My Doctor told me the same thing. I initially went in thinking that was my best option but soon realized it was not. Having a foreign body in there pretty much guarantees a second surgery at some point to remove it.

    Any August 2021 Bypassers?

Try a different brand of shake. I have heard that has helped some

    OOTD

Obviously a Surgery success story. A before and after would be motivating if you had it. That usually motivates me when I see those.
