A fill CAN be too much of a good thing!!
KawasakiChick replied to KawasakiChick's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, he put me on liquids for 5 days, I'm just starting to eat reg foods again! I can go back next week to have another fill, but I'm kind of apprehensive and still have restriction, so I may wait a couple of weeks. Speaking of loss...WOW! 61 pounds!! Share your secrets girl!! That is AWESOME! CONGRATS! I am dibbling in the 30 lb. range still, I think it's bc I am lifting weights at the gym now... -
Hey Hotties!! I haven't been online in a while, so I thought I'd share the reason why.... I had my first episode of becoming VERY sick. I got a fill last Monday for a total of 6cc's in my 12 cc band. I was feeling great until Sunday afternoon (almost a week later). I just could NOT hold anything down. Food, soft foods, liquids NOTHING! I started vomiting and it didn't stop. I also started getting really bad tightness and chest pains. I knew it had to be that my stomach was aggigated from all of the vomiting, needless to say though, I thought it would pass. I stayed up all night Sunday and all morning Monday, completely miserable. I called my nurse twice and my surgeon once and left messages, but they didn't return my call until I was already taking action. I called my hubby at work and had him take me to the ER. I'm glad I went, I was dehydrated and needed to have the fluid removed from my band. Finally about 6 hours into the ER, they decided to admit me because I still seemed pretty washed out. Well, I just got home a few hours ago (THANK GOD) and am feeling much better, but I just wanted to pass along a warning to all my fellow bandsters... You know you're body and you know when something is not right. Be careful with your fills and if something doesn't feel right within a couple of days, take action and do not wait. My thought was that my Dr. is always a month out for scheduling so that I wouldn't be able to get in anyway, but ALL doctor's set aside time for cases like this. TRUST ME, you do not want to get sick like this, it sucked!!! I hope you all are doing well and I'm happy to see that so many of you are meeting goal!! Congrats!! Take care hotties!!

Hi all! Hope everyone is doing well! B: 1/3c. Cottage cheese and a cup of decaf coffee L: Egg drop Soup and a couple bites of a small egg roll:blush: D: I am cooking right now...Grilled shrimp and Whole Wheat Angel hair Pasta with a small bit of Alfredo sauce ( I know pasta is a bad choice but I haven't gotten in enough calories today) S: SF Jello pudding if I need it Since my fill yesterday I already dropped 1.5 lbs!! Looks like it's working...haven't noticed a change in my eating except in the volume. I can still eat almost anything:thumbup: The only thing I haven't tried is steak...afraid it will be too tough and chewy. About to work out after dinner for about 30 minutes on the treadmill and a goal of 20 minutes on the elliptical....we'll see how it goes  -
Had my first fill today! It took all of 5 minutes, and it was sooo much easier than I expected it to be. I had anxiety over it I swear! They used a local anesthetic which helped, I didn't even feel them put the needle in my port. I'm curious to see how this helps! We put 4cc in my 12cc band! I'm on soft foods for 24-48 hours and then back to normal. I'll keep everyone posted!

Favorite "post-band" chain restaurant?
KawasakiChick replied to cookiebaby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a few... TGI Fridays - Potstickers seem to fill me up right now, but I also like their Key West Shrimp Chinese - Anywhere with a good Egg Drop Soup is okay by me!! Fish Daddy's - (This is a chain but may be an Oklahoma thing) They have great Stuffed Fish. It is enough for 3 meals for me, I LOVE it!! If I'm with the kiddos... McD's - Chipotle Snack wrap (grilled) maybe some apples if I want something sweet I must say though, that it is amazing that I don't drink pop anymore...but it makes it challenging to find something to drink if you are not in a water-type-of-mood. I always carry a few different flavors of Crystal Lite packets with me just in case. -

Thanks for the yummy recipe Lena! I'm going to make some this weekend when I have more free time! B: FF Yogurt, Black coffee with a scoop of Protein powder L: Taco salad minus the taco shell...(I think I just wanted the taste of a taco lol) S: Small piece of beef jerkey, handful of almonds D: Small piece of roasted chicken (about 3 ounces) and steamed veggies Got in about 72 ounces of Water today and a whopping 76g of protein!! Yay me! (Tip: I love Fruit punch Crystal Lite and mix in Protein bullets with them...you can barely even tell they are there since the Fruit Punch flavor is so intense) Had a 45 min run/walk session on the treadmill and took my daughter's to their school's skate night...so good exercise day too! -
Do you get sick of other people.......

OMG, I sooo feel all of you in this forum. My DH does the same thing. He is trying to be helpful and I know he is but it is ANNOYING. We were at breakfast yesterday and I ordered 1 egg and a small slice of ham and I didn't even eat HALF of it and he was like "Why are you forcing it, you know you shouldn't eat that" I got so mad. I'm still an adult and I know that ham isn't the best of protein choices which is why I spent an hour and a half in the gym yesterday and lost .5 pounds for the day by compensating with healthier choices during lunch and dinner. SOOO annoying UGH!! To play Devil's Advocate though, I have talked to him about me being scared to fail and I know he is only looking out for me, it's just the WAY people say things. -
Hello there! I also have BCBS and I had to do the 6 month diet...It took me a year to complete all of their requirements and get an approval ( I was denied twice) but it is all sooo worth it. Send it in, see what they say and don't give up! There were days when I was sooo discouraged, but they want to find a way not to pay...be adamant that this surgery will change your life. Keep us posted, best of luck!!:sneaky:

Thanks everyone for the support! I have reduced my calorie intake but maintained my Protein and today I stepped on the scale and I was one pound lighter!! Woot woot!! LOL:thumbup: The weight thing is such a mental game, it's crazy! I'm gonna be optimistic though that it will work out. I'm working out 4 days a week now and I'm feeling good! I can't wait for a fill to see what it does for me since I am doing my part! Kristilaw - It's a small world, I also went to Jenks HS!! Class of 2000!
