  1. I think the previous post is very good advice. I (although wasn't expecting to so soon) got pregnant a month after my band. I am 9 weeks pregnant and miserable. We wanted to get pregnant. I just was having so many problems getting pregnant that I thought I'd go ahead and get banded and the baby would come later. Well, I guess the change in menality allowed me to finally get pregnant, but at an akward time. I am having more problems with the band now than before I got pregnant. Vomitting, not able to keep foods down that I could before. It is very trying. I would wait a while. I was still in the process of learning what I could and couldn't eat, and now with nausea and food aversions, it's making it even more difficult. (I'm still very excited about having a baby though ). Good luck with your decision.

How long did it take you to lose?

I was banded 6/28/08. I lost about 7 pounds pre-op, then about 1-2 pounds per week after that. I've lost a total of 17 pounds so far. I can't eat a lot of starchy foods, so I have unintentionally done a low carb diet, which may be a contributing factor. I go belly dancing twice a week for some exercise, though I need to do more. Trust me, you will lose. It may not be as much as quickly as you want, but that's healthy. Good luck to you.

    Abdominal exercises- Anyone had success?

Belly dancing is awesome. It works your waist, your belly, your thighs, and it is fun so you don't feel like you're working out. I have been taking it for over a year at my family y, but there a numerous dvd's you can buy as well. I have always been curvy, but anyone any shape can learn to belly dance. It's a great workout and you feel sexy in the process. Good luck to you.
  4. Hey, first, I just want to say that you look absolutely terrific! If you don't mind me asking, how much weight did you lose on average in a week or month? I just had my band on 6/28/08, and I've only lost 17 pounds. I feel like sometimes I can eat more than I should be able to, and other times I feel like I can't eat anything without hurting, but I feel like I should have lost more than I have. Should I, or am I doing ok? Is it time for another fill?

    Hello.. new from GA

I live in Georgia as well. There are a lot of bariatric centers. We have several here in Augusta. Have you tried other places? Did your cardiologist reccomend any other bariatric surgeries or only lap band? If you live anywhere near Augusta, try this link WWW.AUGUSTASURGERY.COMAlso, go to www.lapband.com and they have a surgeon locator. Wellcare is a Georgia program so it shouldn't matter if you use a local surgeon or not as long as they are in the state. Best of luck to you.

    Please cheer me up

I'm still new to this, I was just banded on 6/27/08. I will say though that the first week was very depressing for me. I got to telling myself about all the things I couldn't eat, all the things that needed to be done around the house that I couldn't do because I was sore, etc. I made myself depressed. Just rest as much as you can, don't over do it, because believe me it will cause you pain, and don't stress about losing weight because you WILL lose weight with this. Others will notice before you do. So take care of yourself.
